Leaders of the City of San Clemente in California want to make a bold statement about the value of unborn babies as their state leaders push to expand abortions.

The Epoch Times reports the city council initially planned to consider a pro-life resolution Aug. 16 to declare San Clemente a “sanctuary for life” and condemn the killing of unborn babies in abortions. However, Mayor Gene James scheduled a special meeting for Saturday to consider removing the proposal from the meeting agenda after it attracted national attention, the San Clemente Times reports.

“The ultimate purpose of government is to protect the life and liberty of humans including unborn individuals,” Councilman Steve Knoblock, who proposed the resolution, told The Epoch Times.
