The Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC) announced in a memo that its 2022 priorities are to defend legislative victories by Republicans in states like Florida and the priorities of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R). In the memo, the committee derided the efforts of the President Joe Biden administration.

“In Joe Biden’s America, inflation is rising, crime is raging, and unions still have more say in education than parents,” the committee said. “As state Democrats continue to stand by the leader of their party and the disastrous policies that are driving these crises, voters across the country are looking for state Republicans to step up and serve as a counterweight to the socialist agenda. This means more places for the RSLC to win in 2022.”

RSLC is also seeking to defend Republican majorities in a number of states, including Florida.

“The remaining six defensive states on our target list all have chambers that national liberals spent a combined nearly $50 million failing to flip in 2020 and we don’t expect them to just pack it in after one unsuccessful effort,” the committee said.

“We may have started the cycle exclusively trying to defend our razor-thin majorities, but the failures of President Biden and his Democrat allies in the states have created opportunities for us to go on offense in places we never could have imagined,” said RSLC President Dee Duncan. “Democrats across the country will be held accountable for standing by Joe Biden and the disastrous policies that have given us the highest inflation in 40 years, record gas prices, raging crime, and learning loss for an entire generation of kids.”

Since DeSantis has taken office, the Florida Legislature has passed a number of his pieces of priority legislation. Most recently, the Florida Legislature approved an illegal immigration crackdown measure, a second notable election integrity bill, essential churches bill, a 15-week abortion ban, and legislative victories against “wokeness” and Critical Race Theory….
