A senior writer at The New York Times said in a newsletter that vaccinations, booster shots and masks have not caused a major difference in case rates between parts of the country with different levels of COVID-19 precautions. The newsletter compared COVID-19 case rates for Democratic and Republican areas, noting that Democrats were more likely to wear masks, get vaccinated and boosted, avoid public spaces and shut down in-person schools over virus fears. “Nationwide, the number of official Covid cases has recently been somewhat higher in heavily Democratic areas than Republican areas,” the NYT newsletter read. “There is a strong argument for continuing to remove other restrictions, and returning to normal life.”

“These factors seem as if they should have caused large differences in case rates. They have not. And that they haven’t offers some clarity about the relative effectiveness of different Covid interventions,” David Leonhardt wrote in the newsletter….
“Nationwide, the number of official Covid cases has recently been somewhat higher in heavily Democratic areas than Republican areas,” the NYT newsletter read. “There is a strong argument for continuing to remove other restrictions, and returning to normal life.”
Unlike other precautions, vaccination rates were closely related to death rates, and areas that voted for former President Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election saw approximately double the COVID-19 death rate than areas that voted for President Joe Biden, according to the newsletter….

So now a disease is playing partisan politics? Wake up people! No more Trump supporters died than biden supporters! No poll could tell that! I had close friends that supposedly died from covid and I don’t know nor care who they supported politically! Our world is nuts today! I wouldn’t trust or believe anything the New York Times reported as they have been lying for years! If you want to know the truth about anything, ask GOD! The HOLY SPIRIT will guide us into all truth! Amen!
My science instincts say hold off on celebrations of data analysis. American thought is biased and news can’t be too taken seriously. I thank God for people still seeking correlations and pray He will guide our nation away from tainted political agendas which cite ‘WE folllow the science’ .
(The paragraph on political candidate supporters was not really clear. Why did Trump supporters fare worse? More comorbidity factors? Were fewer Trump supporters getting vaccinated or just older & sicker? )
I praise God that we may be out of the pandemic politics and are racing now to new national concerns. It may take several decades for statistics to be honestly evaluated without politics tainting conclusions. May God bless America with a new generation of hearts for Truth. Lord, our world needs your hand to guide us through all the mazes. We seek you. Amen
