Hurricane Ida hitting on the same exact day as Hurricane Katrina (16 years later) is a crisis on top of trauma. How are you praying for the people of Louisiana and Mississippi? Hurricane Ida battered Louisiana as a category 4 hurricane when it made landfall on Sunday, before weakening to a category 3 hurricane later on in the evening…

Edwards said in a major disastrous declaration that the hurricane was “one of the strongest storms to ever hit Louisiana.”…

The storm will be the biggest test that the state’s upgraded levee system has faced since 2005 when Hurricane Katrina, which made landfall in Louisiana 16 years ago to the day, devastated the area.

Lord, I pray that You would be with and comfort Louisana residents and bring restoration to all who are affected by Hurricane Ida. I pray also that You would prevent any more hurricanes this season. Give me an opportunity to do whatever I can to help those affected by this terrible storm. In Jesus name, amen.

Don’t forget to pray for the people 60-70 miles south of New Orleans,LA and below. We live along bayou Lafourche and our area is devastated. Port Fourchon and Grand Isle may never recover. We are hurting here too. Also Terrebonne parish is demolished. We have not seen this amount of damage in 50 or more years!

Lord we watched with heavy hearts as Ida struck the state of LA and surrounding states. I, like many Lord, have a sense that Your protective hand has slowly been removed from America. With disasters like the hurricane, drought with constant fires, many godless and incompetent government officials (because they are not “leaders” in the sense You require of us), etc., we know You are serious about judgement upon a nation that has basically forgotten, ignored or stood in defiance of You. Many in our nation have traded freedom for bondage and then we have tried, in desperation, to convince ourselves that we are “free”. So many have been forceful in trying to convince us of climate change – dismissing the truth that You alone are Lord over everything on this earth including all weather.
We are grateful for the protections that have greatly reduced the loss of life in N. Orleans and other areas. But we ask that You would comfort those that lost loved ones and that others who live there, who don’t yet know You, that they would call on You for salvation. We pray for a great soaking rain of repentance and revival to wash over N. Orleans and the state as well as AL. MS and all states that suffered through Ida. May that repentance and revival consume our entire nation. May Your presence become constant, powerful and real in the weeks to come.
Thank you for protecting so many in this storm. They will need to know You are close to their needs in the coming weeks. We pray for those working to restore the area would have ample resources and that You would protect them as they work.
We ask You Lord for cooler temps for the area in order to further protect the people and those who are there to help with physical restoration. In Jesus name amen.

There are so many of the above prayers that I agree with! The the identification repentance of Daniel is of paramount importance!Repentance in this nation is of paramount importance!
I’d like to point out some other things here.
I believe the body of Christ in some ways has indeed matured since the days of Katrina. I live in North Texas where summers are blistering and dangerously hot. In 2016, my prayer partner and I agreed that this heat in the summers was not Gods will. The summer heat here killed people, plants and animals. Every year. We began to take authority over the weather as Jesus himself did. We have learned so much by doing this. And now in 2021 we have mild or more manageable summers in North Texas. The weathermen here for the last few years have been baffled because the heat index has not done what it had done in prior years. There has been more rain, breezes during the summer and lower temperatures. We speak to the clouds and tell them to multiply and cover the sun. We take authority over all predictive weather words that have already been spoken by others that do not line up with God‘s will. God showed me that the weather does not have free will like man does. When we speak to it we do not get that type of opposition so it’s actually easier than praying for a person. All that to say this. Since Katrina in 2004, progress has been made in this area of authority. Many prayed against Ida and took their God given authority over this storm so that there would not be a repeat. Though I see much damage was done, Katrina took 1836 lives. The death toll from Ida has been low. So far I think maybe 4 to 6 people. Even though it could go higher it wasn’t able to do what Katrina did. I believe this is because of the authority taken over the storm by believers. That is progress!
We must continue to ask God to help us understand the power he’s given to us and exercise it over this world we find ourselves in today.

Oh, dear Heavenly Father, We pray that this latest hurricane to hit Louisiana and surrounding areas will strengthen rather than weaken the human spirit through Your intervention. We pray that You will make Your presence known to those who have been deeply affected, to those who have come to the aid of their countrymen who have lost loved ones, homes and businesses. May Your Spirit be felt in the aftermath and draw us all closer to You. Bless those (such as Mercy Chef and Samaritan’s Purse)) who are providing food to the hungry and shelter to the homeless and most importantly the love of Christ in action.

Father God, be with America as we face crisis after crisis in these latter days. Give us the sense of urgency we need in a time such as this to stand against evil, against oppression, against those who mock us for our beliefs in the one true God. Help us to realize we have within us the power of the Holy Spirit which is far, far greater than any demonic power in our paths. We claim this in Jesus’ name. Amen

I would like to share todays devotion from David Wilkerson.

I believe one of the most important things that we can pray for is for the people to turn to with repentance, trust in, and get to know Jesus. My hearts desire it that people will see and touch Jesus in the midst of this storm. That He would be extolled and exalted in the midst of this.

I watched roof after roof get blown away off of hospitals – I believe there is a lesson to be learned here by the demonstration. On Jesus can “Cover” us and protect us in the midst of this storm and in the storms & wrath to come. All else will fail us because God’s beginning judgments are designed to strip away our trust in our idols – as in the days of the plagues of Egypt. We need to repent and put all of our trust in Him – NOW – because greater wrath is coming.

Every tree is calling my attention to Psalm 1.

Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;

But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night.

He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.

The ungodly are not so, But are like the chaff which the wind drives away.

Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the ungodly shall perish.

We must get ourselves rooted deeply and securely in Jesus!!!

Here’s today’s devotion:

Becoming People of Prayer
By David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

In Jeremiah 5, God pleaded, “Run to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem; see now and know; and seek in her open places if you can find a man, if there is anyone who executes judgment, who seeks the truth, and I will pardon her” (Jeremiah 5:1, NKJV). The Lord was saying, in essence, “I’ll be merciful, if I can find just one person who’ll seek me.”

During the Babylonian captivity, God found such a man in Daniel. When the Holy Ghost came to Daniel, the prophet was reading the book of Jeremiah and asking why God was not delivering Israel after the promised 70 years. When the revelation came that Israel had not repented, Daniel was provoked to pray, “I set my face toward the Lord God to make request by prayer and supplications, with fasting, sackcloth, and ashes. And I prayed to the Lord my God, and made confession” (Daniel 9:3-4).

Daniel knew God’s people had failed, yet did the prophet lambaste his peers for their sins? No. Daniel identified himself with the moral decay all around him. He declared, “We have sinned and committed iniquity, we have done wickedly and rebelled, even by departing from your precepts and your judgments… O Lord, to us belongs shame of face, to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, because we have sinned against you” (Daniel 9:5, 8).

God strongly desires to bless his people today, but if our minds are polluted with the spirit of this world, we are in no position to receive his blessings. Daniel made this powerful statement: “All this disaster has come upon us; yet we have not made our prayer before the Lord our God, that we might turn from our iniquities and understand Your truth. Therefore the Lord has kept the disaster in mind, and brought it upon us; for the Lord our God is righteous in all the works which he does, though we have not obeyed his voice” (Daniel 9:13–14).

We must examine our own walk with the Lord and let the Holy Spirit show us areas of compromise. We should do more than pray for a backsliding nation. We should be crying out, “Oh, Lord, search my heart. Expose in me all of the spirit of the world that has crept into my soul.” Like Daniel, we could then set our faces to pray for the deliverance of our families and our nation.

Dear God, right now I lift up the people of Louisiana and Mississippi who have been affected by this awful hurricane. Their lives have been turned upside down. I ask You to let them know your peace and Your comfort. I pray for the families of those who lost their lives. Please let them know that You are near.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen

I live in Alexandria.
I blew my shofar on the night of 27 August.
I have been praying for the safety of those who were unable to evacuate or simply chose not to.
I am praying for restoration of electricity and communications in the areas most affected by hurricane Ida, for quick and effectual damage assessments and for repairs to be made or started before any more storms hit the affected areas.
I am also praying for those that are dealing with the loss of their property, possessions, and loved ones. Especially for their peace, for salvation for those who do not know the Lord, and for strength and courage for those involved in the cleanup and restoration of services, and for those repairing the damage.
I am also praying for an abundance of workers and volunteers and for those who were waiting to come into Louisiana and Mississippi to repair the damage wreaked by hurricane Ida.
Specific damage was done to roads, bridges, and levees, not to mention downed power lines and all the downed trees that need to be cleared to restore access to the damaged areas.
I am also praying for an outpouring of financial support and giving, specifically to the Red Cross, the Salvation Army, and the various interfaith disaster relief services involved in the restoration and repair of homes and businesses.

Lord Jesus, I pray for the multitude of people who have been affected by the hurricane: the ones who couldn’t evacuate such as the elderly, the sick, and the homeless. Protect them while the rescuers look for survivors. You are able. Amen.

Dear Jesus,Would you visit the people of Louisiana in the night season, when their souls are at rest, in dreams and visions, to show them that You are with them? That You are their Saving Grace, and You have not left them. In their weakness, You are strong, Soften their hearts, dear Lord, so that they will call on You for healing and restoration. And in Your Mercy, send those who carry Holy Spirit to be a Physical Light in a dark place, bringing them Love And Hope, found only through the totally free gift of Salvation, in believing in the Mighty Name of You, Jesus, as Lord and Savior. We know that one day, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that you are Lord. So we pray for a Revival to come to Louisiana, that will ignite and spread across this Nation. We pray that America will be Restored to its Divine purpose, and we will Rejoice in the words, “In God We Trust”!!!
