Father, do not let us live in fear. Help us to make no provision for the enemy to attack and give our nation wisdom and discernment.

Fifteen days to flatten the curve has turned into months of hospital and health facility visitor bans.

The New York Times calls it a heart-wrenching thing and I must agree.

While they are referring to the rights of elderly and disabled people, this applies to many more than just those two groups.

It has been devastating for everyone who has been separated from a loved one, unable to hold their hand as they took their final breath.  Yet this ban continues, with no end in sight.

The New York Times article continues, “Of all the ways the coronavirus pandemic has undermined the conventions of normal life, perhaps none is as cruel as the separation of seriously ill patients and their loved ones, now mandated at hospitals around the world.”

“It’s a heart-wrenching thing to do,” said Dr. Laura Forese, executive vice president and chief operating officer of New York-Presbyterian Hospital in New York. “But it’s for everyone’s protection.”

For everyone’s protection?  How then do we explain those who are dying alone from depression, heart attacks, and untreated illnesses?

Imagine if your loved one was in the hospital and you could not be with them.  Think for a moment of a spouse or child going to a doctor’s appointment to receive devastating news—alone.

Thousands have walked through the reality of this trauma in the past few months which has affected not only those who died with COVID, but also countless others who have died alone because of the bans associated with the virus.

As President Trump warned in the beginning, the cure has become worse than the virus.

We all understand the need to keep people safe.  However, people need people—especially in a crisis.

Over and over I hear of sick people refusing to seek medical attention because they have to go alone.

How many are dying or getting sicker by the day because of this strict, harsh ban?

Recently, a complaint was filed against the State of Connecticut concerning the hospital bans and the effect it is having on the elderly and disabled.

The complaint states that when family and support workers are banned, many elderly and disabled people can’t make informed medical decisions, which can adversely affect their care.

While I believe this is true, it applies to all people, not just the elderly and disabled.

When someone is incapacitated in the hospital, who is watching over them if their family and loved ones are prohibited from being with them?  Who is standing up for them?  No one.  We are forced to trust in the medical facility.  The same facility —tells us it does no harm to the patient as they forbid family from accompanying them.

The article further stated, “Office for Civil Rights, (OCR) investigates complaints about discriminatory health care policies. Last month, it announced settlements in Alabama and Pennsylvania after investigating allegations that elderly and disabled people were denied equal access to treatments for COVID-19. Those rulings then became guidance to states around the country. An OCR action on hospital visitor policies could set national practice, too.”

Others have pressured the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, (HHS) to act. Senator Robert Casey (PA-R) contacted the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, whose job is to oversees health care facilities, and instructed hospitals to ease their limits on visitors.

I partially agree with Senator Robert Casey. It is time for the health care facilities and hospitals to ease up on their limits for visitors but for all people, not just the elderly and disabled.

What can we do?

Please take time right now to send your elected officials a message asking for restrictions to be eased for all patients.  It’s easy to do, just CLICK HERE and follow the instructions. Also, contact the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Office for Civil Rights.  It is time we let our voice be heard.

Did you send your message? Share in the comments below if you did and any further thoughts on this issue. . .

IFA received several touching emails about personal stories of loved ones dying alone and other stories of pushing back on these restrictions and being then allowed to be with their loved ones. Do you have a story? Please share!

So sad. What has happened to our beloved country? All of this has been conspired by evil men to usurp Donald Trump and God’s goodness toward this nation.

Perhapt speaking in tongues would validate family to “interpret” and speak for their hospitalized loved ones.

Thankful for this article. I know there are way too many far worse stories, but this one is mine. In early April my husband raced me to ER – thought I was having a heart attack. He had to drop me off at the door, sat in the car as I made my way the best I could into an empty waiting room- only after stopping in the ante room for some compassionless screening. I thank God for my nurse-angel who walked out, noticed me and rushed me to the back. After a mighty rough night followed by surgery, I never saw my husband again… until 5 days later when he picked me up to take me home.

I have a brother very ill, not from COVID who’s been in ICU for two months. At one point the drs didn’t think he was going to live. He’s single, lives alone & only has myself & another sister. We all live in different states: IL, TX, & NJ, but our brother is hospitalized in IA. We want to see our ill brother but because of restrictions at hospitals, it is difficult to arrange visiting when traveling from far away & then you may have to quarantine, etc. there are so many other details involved, but these restrictions make things difficult & involves so much time to get anything done. However we’re trusting GOD to lead at every step.

Holy Father,
Thank you for this article. Thank You for all the prayers that people sent from their heart to cope with Covid19.

Father God, YOU ARE the giver of life and ONLY YOU have the right to take it. Let us remember that. Let us enjoy everyday that You made for us.
In Jesus’ name, I pray for the people hospitalized and their family who can’t visit them. Please protect those in the hospital Father and keep them company. Make them feel Your company so that they don’t feel alone. Also I pray that they will draw close to You.
So as family that can’t visit. Help them to feel that You got their back Father. I ask in Jesus’ name that they will also draw close to You.

In Jesus name, I pray for the all medical personnel that have to do their job. Extend their compassion, have enough rest, give them strength, more energy and most of all keep them healthy. Make them feel that they’re appreciated.

Father God, please made the HCQ be allowed to be used. It’s affordable and have been in the market for 60 years.
Father God, please help the pharma co to have compassion and not all about profit.

I pray for those in the management, to have compassion to their worker and patient. They can follow the rule and law YET they do not neglect compassion.
I pray for them to draw closer to You too, Father.

Without drawing close to You, we can’t have power to life everyday with confident. You Are our power source Father. Please help us to remember. Always to Trust YOU first before any step that we make which we pray and we take our step with confident.

Probably Covid19 is here to stay. But I pray that life will be normal again that we can hug each other. You said in Your word that I don’t have because I ask not. Thank You for the reminder verse that YOU ARE OMNIPOTENCE GOD.

Thank You Father for sending Jesus on the cross for us. Let’s not forget that so that we can always extend our grace to others who we think wrong us.

We thank You Father. Amen.

    I too have practiced medicine,
loved and cared for all of the patients entrusted to my care.
The numbers are fallacious. Fear is the true pandemic.

FYI- this rule does not apply to the illegals in our area. Because they say they cannot speak the language they are allowed to have a revolving door of friends and family members in the hospital with them to “translate” for them. I personally watched one Mexican woman go inside the hospital while I was there and she had 4 people with her to “help her understand”. I took enough Spanish in HS to understand that the woman’s family was saying she needed all 4 people with her because she could not speak English and because they would need to go and come at different times to translate. Hmmmmmmm……. There is something very messed up with this policy if illegals can get around the policy while our friends die alone.

Lord I have personal friends that are experiencing this with their loved ones. Lord please help the elderly and all those suffering alone in the hospitals, nursing homes and even in quarantine by reaching the hearts involved in this. Lord soften hearts, set the captives free and have mercy and Grace over those vulnerable. In Jesus name. Amen

I was conducting Sunday School at a local nursing home until the pandemic. I have not seen or heard from anyone in that nursing home since the beginning of March. I wonder how many have died lonely there. Of those still living, their cognitive skills must have declined completely.

Plus, I had a serious procedure two weeks ago and no one from my family was allowed to come inside the surgery center before or after the procedure. So, I am still unsure of what the surgeon actually did.
How can Senators and Governors and Mayors sleep at night knowing that they ALLOW mass protests to continue day after day without any social distancing yet they deny others the right to say goodbye to loved ones???? The protestors are shoulder to shoulder, most are not wearing masks, and they number in the hundreds. How can they allow these demonstrations yet not allow people to go to work in order for people to be able to pay their bills???? When will this hypocrisy and insanity end??????????

Amen, Robin! And we need to see about our taxes being prorated at the end of the year because these publicly funded hospitals and nursing homes are not using as much electricity, water, and food without the visitors there.

How many did die. It didn’t have to be this way. S. Korea curbed it Germany did. We can even go to foreign countries now. They don’t want us. They are building walls. Sad.. Good heart there I wish you could visit this all should have been stopped.

Thank You for addressing this in prayer. I know several of my friends that have to deal with this in the states. Separating the elderly from their children and grandchildren and younger family members is taking its toll but to be separated during their last days is almost like a prison sentence. I agree with the question “how many are dying and getting sicker by the day because of this harsh ban” I believe it adds an unbearable suffering we will never understand.
Just recently we have had to deal with this. My Mother In law passed away about 2 weeks ago In Ireland. She had been in and out of the hospital since late January and the situation was very difficult. Three of her children and a few of her grandchildren live in Ireland and three live outside of the country. The 2 week quarantine did not allow for travel or visitation. Three did get to say goodbye at the very last hours but three could not. This was added suffering in death and to the grieving.

Yes,message sent. We been asked to do something that is so heart and so unnecessary. The workers of the very hospitals come and go every day. I think at least 1 person can be assigned to be with these family. Help us God.

Thank you Kim Potter. I too am devastated by this hideous, barbaric nonsense. I said the other day that a “hand touch” is healing, but these evil folk & their ulterior motives outweighs compassion.

“As President Trump warned in the beginning, the cure has become worse than the virus.” So true.

I will send this to as many people as I possibly can. This is a prayer answered. It absolutely breaks my heart that folk have to die alone frightened.

This is
absolute overreach. Lord expose the evil deeds of this barbaric practice.

Kim, thanks so much for bringing our attention to these issues. It breaks my heart to hear stories of people separated from loved ones in hospitals and nursing homes. It seems the medical establishment is so focused on protecting people’s physical health that they have forgotten thr value of wholistic Healthcare which concerns itself with the whole person. Our emotional and spiritual health also matters and often directly affects our physical health for better or worse. Father, give all of us wisdom in this time. Help us to lean into you more as the true source of our health and well-being.
