I Prayed have prayed
Lord, instead of choosing discouragement about the world around us, let us choose to press in to prayer.
Reading Time: 2 minutes

We loved these prayer helps from a wonderful little booklet by Stormie Omartian, 10 Minutes To Powerful Prayer.Not only are these 8 points helpful reminders for the seasoned intercessor, they are a great way to share God’s heart for intercession with those who haven’t learned about it yet. Let us know if this is helpful to you.

1. Even though things seem to be getting worse, I can’t stop praying.

“Evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them.” (2 Timothy 3:13-14)

2.No matter how bad things get in the world, God is still in control.

“The Lord is high above all  nations, His glory above the heavens. Who is like the Lord our God, who dwells on high, who humbles Himself to behold the things that are in the heavens and in the earth?” (Psalm 113:4-6)

3. No matter how the nations are shaken, the kingdom of God cannot be shaken.

“Since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. For our God is a consuming fire.” (Hebrews 12:28-29)

4. I must pursue my enemies in prayer until I see them all completely destroyed.

“I  have pursued my enemies and destroyed them; Neither did I turn back again till they were destroyed. And I have destroyed them and wounded them, So that they could not rise; They have fallen under my feet. For You have armed me with strength for the battle; You have subdued under me those who rose against me.” (2 Samuel 22:38-40)

5. When I sense the darkness of the world encroaching upon my life, I can pray and expect the joy of the Lord to give me strength to rise above anything opposes me.

“For You are my lamp, O Lord; The Lord shall enlighten my darkness. For by You I can run against a troop. By my God I can leap over a wall.” (2 Samuel 22:29-30)

6. No matter how great the opposition I see to the things of God, I know He is far greater and I can have great hope and confidence in that truth.

 “What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31)

7. My prayers lay the foundation for the pursuit of peace.

“Therefore let us pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which one may edify another.” (Romans 14:19)

8. God hears my prayers when I pray for the demise of evildoers.

“For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their prayers; But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.” (1 Peter 3:12)

Heavenly Father, thank you for confirming in Your Word You are Sovereign. Thank You for always working “good” through spread of evil by principalities and powers of darkness that roam the Earth. In Your wisdom, you have not set up the New Heaven and Earth as yet, and we live in a fallen world where evil is permitted to exist.
“Your ways are not ours” You are so far above us and perfect. Your ask us to trust, and there is much we do not understand. I love the Words You spoke in the 39th Chapter of Job. It causes me to humble myself before You, and remember of Your Supremacy in all matters. Your, “eye is even on the sparrow”. Not one thing in Heaven or Earth escapes Your scrutiny. In Jesus’ precious Name. Amen

Thank you. These are very helpful. I take exception to Number 2, “. . . God is still in control.” God has given the earth to us (Psalm 115) God is NOT ‘in control’. His will, His plan, WILL come to pass, yes! But to say God is “in control” on earth is a bad witness to His character and the Father’s heart. In control of what? Children being molested in their own homes?! In control of the Bernie Maddox’s in the world who steal the llife savings of other people?! In control of Planned Parenthood providing abortions?! And why would we even need to pray if He’s controlling the activities around us? Because the Word of God says life and death are in the power of our tongue (Prov 18:21), I believe the words we use are very important. So we rise up in prayer in the Name of Jesus that His will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. O Lord, contend with those who contend with us! May those who seek the destruction of righteous leaders and true believers’ be disgraced and put to confusion; may those who are plotting harm for them be repulsed and put to shame. Do not let us be ashamed, O Lord, for we have called upon You; Let the wicked be ashamed; Let them be silent in the grave. Amen!

    Remember we live in a fallen world. And nothing is new under the sun. God “IS” in control. Nothing can be done if He doesn’t allow it. The Bible is replete with all matter’s under the sun.

Just the reminder I needed this morning when the enemy comes and says its dark.
So I know we’re advancing and know to carry on. My nose comes in line even from dripping from air pollution.
And The evidence is in hand from the “we win” from Austin, Texas.
Be Blessed as we Stand..

These points reminded me of a stern rebuke the Spirit of God dropped into my spirit while I was reading the Psalms over 20 years ago. I was reading a Psalm where David was asking the Lord to ‘break the teeth’ and do other harm to his enemies. In my ignorance and immaturity, I remarked to the Lord, ‘boy, am I glad we live in the age of grace so we don’t have to pray like that.’

Immediately I heard this thunder in my spirit: ‘Do you think you have more of a heart for me than David did?! LEARN TO PRAY THE WAY DAVID DID!’

Ouch.

That opened a whole new realm of understanding to me on how we war in intercession as David did. When we pray for enemies and those in authority, we must keep in mind the purposes and standards of God as well as love that always hopes the individual will be granted repentance, turn to God, and bear the fruits of repentance. But if not, we pray the imprecatory prayers as David did.

We need discernment and wisdom in prayer like never before.

Father, raise up godly men and women to replace those in our government and other civil leadership who will not turn from evil and are causing our cities and nation harm by placing us in in a precarious position before You. We ask for godly, effective leadership that has been called for such a time as this to bring the reforms You have in mind for this nation – those who will do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly before You. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Lord, thank You for the privilege of prayer and access to Your Word. We find hope and strength in times of trouble through the power of Your Holy Spirit. Thank You for Your faithful presence. Your sovereignty over all things brings peace to our hearts! You are good and You love us beyond comprehension. Thank You for Jesus! Thank You for the gift of salvation through His sacrifice. Thank You for the assurance of eternity with You! We love You. Grant us discernment, courage and perseverance as we move through the day ahead! Thank You for Hope! In Jesus Name I pray

“Remember this, and show yourselves men;
Recall to mind, O you transgressors.
Remember the former things of old,
For I am God, and there is no other;
I am God, and there is none like Me,
Declaring the end from the beginning,
And from ancient times things that are not yet done,
Saying, ‘My counsel shall stand,
And I will do all My pleasure,’
Calling a bird of prey from the east,
The man who executes My counsel, from a far country.
Indeed I have spoken it;
I will also bring it to pass.
I have purposed it;
I will also do it.” Isaiah 46:8-11
