One result of the coronavirus pandemic is that many watchmen on the wall are taking a closer look at the World Health Organization (WHO). We found out that the WHO is helping spread  a radical, progressive sexuality education program for the world’s children. Even if you did not have reservations about WHO before, you will now. In 2018, the World Health Organization (WHO), along with five other UN specialized agencies, collaborated with the UN Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to promote a set of sexuality guidelines created by UNESCO. The book: International and Technical Guidance on Sexuality Education: an evidence-informed approach, covers sexuality from birth through adolescence and is blatantly pro-abortion,  anti-family, and anti-God. Every Christian should be on guard as the program could spawn a sexuality curriculum written specifically for your children at your neighborhood school.

The UN engages specialized agencies to promote its seventeen Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). The purpose of UNESCO is to fulfill Goal #4 of Quality Education, which they did by producing the sexuality guidelines. To expand its reach, UNESCO reached out to WHO to implement the guidelines for sexuality within the scope of WHO’s mandate of Goal #3 Good Health and Well Being. The guidelines do not constitute a curriculum but rather serve as an educational toolkit, designed to provide a framework to assist school-based and out-of-school based curriculum writers throughout the world to create comprehensive sexuality education programs for their cultures. With enough partners, the guidelines will eventually affect the world as a whole and certainly will influence the next generation’s attitudes about sex.

In UNESCO’s own words, the users will be organizations such as government education ministers and their professional staff, curriculum developers, school principals, youth workers, nonprofit organizations, as well as decision-makers who can take the guidelines and write a sexuality curriculum designed for their specific cultural base.

Of utmost importance is the redefining of what most of us know as sex-education. The term used for this series is Sexuality Education, which connotes a more aggressive sex education program that embraces sensual behaviors with no restraints, such as religious beliefs that consider sex outside of marriage a sin. According to Sexuality Education’s definition: Sex refers to biological characteristics that define humans as female or male and is often referred to as sexual activity. Sexuality is defined in broader terms as human sexuality as a natural part of human development through every phase of life from birth and includes physical, psychological, and social components.

There is no mention of Planned Parenthood in the document. But if Planned Parenthood produced a sexuality education curriculum guidelines, it might look precisely like this program by UNESCO and WHO.

Some critical elements of the program include:

• Gender equality is of utmost importance.
• Birth control is a decision made by partners and should be available without parental approval.
• Sexual identity is what a person decides.
• The curriculum is “spiral based,” noting the need to sexualize babies so they can grow in their sexuality.
• Individuals make their own reproductive decisions.
• Abortion is a legitimate manner of birth control.
• No mention is made of restriction of sexual behavior as long as both parties are in agreement.
• Sexual behavior is for pleasure and requires no emotional involvement between partners.
• Sexual partners may be from the same sex.
• Abstinence is not a part of the curriculum.

By design, the program restricts only non-consensual sexual behaviors. The authors felt the need to produce a curriculum with a positive professional approach, teaching the child or adolescent to enjoy sex throughout his life. The wording is often vague and speaks volumes by what is not said as much as by what is said; for example, there is little mention of abstinence. There is no warning of the dangers of abortion, nor is it necessary to be avoided. Frequently the guidelines assured the reader that the content is based on expert input.  

The overstepping is one more strike against an already troubled UN program. WHO incurred criticism earlier this year for its mishandling of the coronavirus, the suspiciously close ties between the Chief Executive Officer Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and China, and exposure of excessive travel expenses incurred by the WHO staff in 2018 and 2019 that hover around $200 million per year. This is not WHO’s first attempt to create a birth through adolescence sexuality education guide. In 2010, WHO sponsored a study paid for by the government of Sweden titled, Standards for Sexuality Education in Europe. In the scope of the formal paper, many of the same concepts are present that UNESCO presented in International and Technical Guidance on Sexuality Education: an evidence-informed approach.

On April 14, 2020, President Trump announced he would halt funding to the WHO while investigating WHO’s Chief Executive Officer Dr. Tedros Adhonom Ghebreyesus’ handling of the coronavirus pandemic.  The move caused speculation as to the future of the U.S. relationship with WHO. UNESCO experienced a similar fate on October 12, 2017, as President Trump had the foresight to withdraw the US from UNESCO. President Reagan is the only other President to remove the US from UNESCO.

At the UN, there are few, if any, dissenting voices. Rarely does a conservative take the time or expense to sit in on UN meetings, decipher the presentation, and voice her concern. One lady, a Rotarian from the UK, decided to live in New York and visit as many UN meetings as she could. She said, “I keep searching for a voice of reason in these meetings. Christian countries and conservative governments have no idea the liberal programs their representatives present here. If they did, they would be irate. There are even areas where Christians agree with Muslims, like the importance we both have on family and children, yet no one speaks a dissenting word. No wonder their liberal policies go unchecked.”

Recently included with the UN’s seventeen Sustainable Development Goals, is the phrase leave no one behind, which at first sounds noble, but then there is the memory of a sexuality education program that puts children across the world at risk through the damage it does as it promotes a sexual society with no boundaries or recognition of a just God.  

Dear Lord, we ask You as the judge of all the earth to judge those who intend harm to children. We defeat the enemy of perversion through the power of Your word, and the work You did on the cross. We ask You to set watchmen on the wall at the UN to stop attacks of the enemy against our families and our children.
