If our prayers are to be powerful and effective, according to James 5:16, we must know the spiritual authority that we have.

The power and authority that Jesus gave believers was to set people free from the works of the enemy: When Jesus had called the Twelve together, He gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, and He sent them out to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick (Luke 9:1-2, NIV). The authority He gave was for the purpose of seeing individuals free from bondage in order to thrive in His kingdom. Not only did He grant this authority to set others free, but He also demonstrated that we can grow in that authority as we personally overcome the enemy’s attacks.

In Luke 4:1-14, Jesus was led into the desert to be confronted by the devil. Though He was God, He faced the enemy as a man and overcame every temptation and test as He stood on His Father’s Word. He did this in order to demonstrate the same power that is within us, as believers, to defeat the enemy and his lies. Though Jesus was “full of the Holy Ghost” when He first entered the desert (Luke 4:1, NIV), it says He “returned in the power of the Spirit” (verse 14). Scripture seems to suggest that Jesus was not only filled with the Spirit, but had also become empowered by the Spirit upon his victory over the devil.

This should encourage every believer as we pray for those who are in a spiritual battle. Our own testimonies of victory and breakthrough can serve as powerful weapons in our prayers. Not only can we walk in the fullness of the Spirit, but we will walk in the power of the Spirit as we overcome Satan’s attacks. As we stand in the gap for those who face similar temptations and tests, we can be assured of victory as we stand on God’s Word.

This should also serve as an exhortation to not quit or give up when the enemy confronts us, either personally or corporately. Our victory is sealed when we stand together, not only under the power of His blood, but by our personal testimonies of victory and triumph. Let us not forget what we have already been given and what we have gained through our respective journeys of faith.

They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony (Revelation 12:11, NIV).

Dear Heavenly Father thank You for the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Please Father draw my children, grandchildren and husband to your self. Grant those who are lost repentance and saving faith. Grant all of them a great hunger for your word and so work in them that they would grow passionately in love with Your word and surrender their lives to live for you.
Father I am claiming Eph. 3:20. You said “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly
abundantly beyond all that we ask or think according to the power that works within us, Thank You Father for that promise that You meant for us to claim. thank You, Thank You for all You will do. In Jesus name Amen

Father God I stand in agreement with my sisters in the Lord Karen, Michelle and Sandy, that what they have asked in prayer will indeed come to pass. There is power in agreement, and so I declare that these things WILL come to pass and that your name will be glorified because of it. We are instructed in Scripture to declare those things that are not as if they were. Let it be done in Jesus’s wonderful and powerful and holy name. AMEN

Thank you Lord that by Your finished work we believers have again the power and authority Father created us to have. As we celebrate Your resurrection, I pray our eyes will be open to this truth and the Church will arise in her calling to set people free from the works of the enemy. Lord let us see as You saw what Father is doing and saying. May Your Bride see the work of the enemy and recognize it as such. May she become bold and speak Your truth knowing she prays not for victory but from Your complete Victory! May we be on high alert to bring Your love to a dying world.
