CHRIS CHRISTIE TO JOIN WHITE HOUSE EFFORT TO FIGHT OPIOID ABUSE
Thank God that the White House plans to fight the terrible problem of opioid abuse in this country; pray for their success. Pray for all those in the Church who are battling addiction and for their loved ones.
Through you we push back our enemies; through your name we trample our foes. (Ps.44:5)
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is expected to join a White House effort to combat opioid abuse.
A White House official said Monday that the governor would work on an opioid task force that will be announced later this week. The official spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the plans in advance.
Christie’s role in the effort was first reported by The Washington Post.
The governor has dedicated his final year in office to curbing heroin and prescription drug addiction in his state. Last month he signed legislation into law which includes a five-day limit for first-time opioid prescriptions and a requirement that insurance cover six months of substance abuse treatment.
Christie met with Trump on the issue in February. (Contributor: By Associated Press and The Washington Times)

I have a memory of the many people who have died from the open drugs. May God give Christi and all His wisdom how to get free?!
My comment may not be popular, and perhaps to some it will seem irrelevant, but in my heart I hear the cry for the injustice of this epidemic.
Firsthand I have seen the devastation; family members who by God’s grace did not die but the loss has still been as devastating. Recovery is a lifetime process. For many only surrender to God has helped them in this fight for sobriety.
But, the injustice still remains because millions are indoctrinated daily at the hands of unprincipled doctors that prescribe opiates as the drug of choice. What motivates them? Of course, the pharmaceutical companies! They have known from the trials that this line of drugs are highly addictive, and yet they do nothing to control the dispensing of this HIGHLY ADDICTIVE pain medicine.
When the patient runs through the script at the end of the month, then they resort to Heroin. Get the stereotype out of your head of who this is and what they looks like. They are Senators, your doctors, the principle at your child’s school. This is white collar, blue collar, rich, poor, your kids, maybe silently you. Please know with all certainty this will touch our lives, this will impact us at some level, this impacts us as a nation!
I will pray for Christie to be successful, but I pray to God on the basis of HIS justice that those that begun this insidious mess be held accountable. I pray for a reining in, starting at the lobbyist who really control our county, because he who holds the reins…controls the direction of the horse. I pray for God to heal the bodies ravaged, the hearts broken, the lives ruined. I pray that our government has the COURAGE to lay aside all their self interests and reset their goals and focus on the nation of the people, that’s you and me folks, not Gildead Sciences, AstraZeneca, GlaxoSmithKiline and Bayer.
The Joy of the Lord is our strength for He is our refuge and strength a very present help in trouble. (Psalm 46:1)
Father, there are so many hurting families affected by drug use. We pray that your wisdom will guide those in authority to help solve this destruction of our country.
Just moved to PA after 65 years in Passaic NJ. The drug problem up here in these pleasant suburban woods is just as bad as the inner cities. I pray God gives Christy the divine wisdom and influence to bring true change. However as intercessors it’s war against the spirit of pharmakia that must be dealt with.
I CAN SAY THIS MY STATE OF CONNECTICUT AND ALSO RHODE ISLAND ARE SO BAD WHEN IT COMES TO OPIOIDS AND HEROIN IS OUT OF CONTROL IN THE PAST YEAR OF 2016 IN CONNECTICUT ALMOST 2,000 DEATHS BECAUSE OF OPIOIDS & HEROIN ADDICTION AND OVERDOSES SAME AS RHODE ISLAND ALMOST 2,000 DEATHS BECAUSE OF OPIOID & HEROIN ADDICTION THERE TOO THERE NEEDS TO BE TOUGHER PENALTIES ON THESE DRUG DEALERS GIVE THEM MORE TIME IN PRISON AND TOUGHER LAWS ON DRUG USERS TOO AND STOP LETTING DOCTORS GET PEOPLE STARTED ON THESE OPIOIDS WHICH ALWAYS LEADS TO HEROIN AND THAN DEATH WHICH ABSOLUTELY CAN BE AVOIDED….
It’s about time, I live 15 mins away from Camden, NJ the biggest (to my knowledge) drug area around.
My own son is an addicted to heron and opioids.
And the programs to get these people off of drugs are useless. I have tried to get my son into programs and because he is trying to abstain at the time, THEY FORCE him to pollute his body again with drugs to prove that he needs a program. then when he’s ready to go in, there’s no bed and he has to wait again, then when there’s a bed a day or even 3 days later, he has to use drugs AGAIN, even though he has already tested again and again for drugs. How is this getting ahead in any program.
I admire Christie and the work he has done so far in this state. I’m sure if he takes this on he will succeed.
Sorry he did not peruse running for president.
Christie and Trump a better combo.
