As believers pray for our President and new administration, there is one prayer that will set them apart from those who oppose God’s plan – the fear of the Lord. It is the fear of the Lord that needs to grip the hearts and minds of those in public office.  Here are some prayer directives for our leaders as they seek to make godly decisions and choices. …show no fear towards evil but overcome it (Isaiah 8:12-13)

…be open to the counsel of others (Proverbs 1:7)

…be teachable (Psalm 25:12)

…show no partiality and take no bribes (Deuteronomy 10:17)

…not consider themselves better than anyone else (Deuteronomy 17:19)

…fill their mouth with good things (Proverbs 16:9-13)

…hate all forms of evil (Proverbs 8:13)

…operate in wisdom and humility (Proverbs 15:33)

…have true judgments by the Spirit and not by man (Isaiah 11:3-4)

…love God’s truths (Psalm 112:1)

…keep their personal house in order (Psalm 128:1-4)

…show the fruit of riches, honor, and life (Proverbs 22:4)

…walk in obedience to God’s commands (Psalm 86:11)

…let no sin rule over them (Psalm 119:133)

…have no fear of man, but walk in the fear of the Lord (Proverbs 29:25)

…rule with justice, counsel, and might (Isaiah 11:2-4)

Christian or not, these attributes will become evident as we pray for the Spirit of God to hover over each governmental leader.  Yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God (Proverbs 2:3-5 ESV).
