I Prayed have prayed
Lord, Your word call us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. We pray this peace plan will be the starting point for peace in the Israel.
Reading Time: 2 minutes

Here are some things you may not know about events leading up to the Peace Plan unveiling this week:

  • Pence issued invitations to Netanyahu and opposition leader Benny Gantz while he was in Jerusalem on Thursday. (note: more details in the Pence visit tomorrow.)
  • Pence said Gantz was invited at the recommendation of Netanyahu.
  • Pence made the announcement while on his first visit to the new American Embassy in Jerusalem.
  • Pence is now the highest ranking American official to visit the new Embassy.
  • White House goal by including Gantz: to create the widest possible acceptance of the plan from across the Israeli political spectrum.
  • Jared Kushner and Avi Berkowitz — two of the architects of the plan — were supposed to be in Israel this week for the World Holocaust Forum that drew top leaders from 50 countries.
  • Both canceled their trip at the last moment. Media speculation suggested the cancellation meant the plan’s release wasn’t imminent. But just the opposite was true.
  • Leaks throughout the Israeli media purport to have bombshell details contained in the plan — but for the moment it’s all speculation and rumor.
  • Palestinian leaders are seething — one said, “No Palestinian can accept this dangerous conspiracy.”
  • A livid Mahmoud Abbas said: “We warn Israel and the U.S. administration not to cross any red lines.”
  • Very few of the 50 world leaders who came to Israel this week visited Abbas.
  • In a sad and likely self-defeating move they may come to regret, Palestinian leaders have for more than a year shut down all contact with the White House and have done nothing to negotiate with the Trump administration and try to improve how the deal may affect them.
  • Nevertheless, Trump says of his deal, “it’s actually very positive for them (the Palestinian people). . .

“Joel Rosenberg, a Jerusalem-based author and analyst who has made headlines in recent years for organizing high-profile meetings between U.S. evangelical leaders and Arab heads of state, tells Haaretz he thinks it would be wiser to publish the plan after the election.”

“Is there an upside to releasing the peace plan before the Israeli election in March? Perhaps, but I don’t see it,” Rosenberg says. He adds that, in his opinion, it would be better “to put the plan out immediately after the March 2 vote, but before anyone puts together a coalition. That way, the White House can’t be accused of interfering in the election, but it can still lay on the table core principles and key proposals that a new Israeli prime minister will absolutely need to take into account.”

That said, having decided to plow ahead and release the plan now, I will say it was a shrewd move by Trump and Pence to invite Gantz to the White House for the rollout. That will help blunt (though by no means eliminate) accusations that the White House is trying to boost Bibi’s re-election efforts.

The problem with this plan, and all others before it, is the hubris involved in believing the we (read:USA, Trump) can bring peace to this region separate from the coming of the Prince of Peace. The scriptures are crystal clear that any division of the land (read:Palestinian state) will be judged (Joel 3:1-3)by God. He has given the people of Israel, the Jewish people, a land defined by scriptural boundaries. Any plan that does not acknowledge Gods own words and actions is prideful and will not work. Amy our president, who I love and support wholeheartedly, humble himself and acknowledge fully that no man can bring peace in the Middle East. May Netanyahu treasure our friendship, a blessing for both nations, but stand firm against any ‘land for peace/tow state solution. Father, keep us a sheep nation as we pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

Lori, while I appreciate your thoughtful reply I would like to encourage you to remember, as I have to remember, that God will accomplish His will for the land of Israel in any measure and way He deems appropriate. Our faith is tied to the reality that we cannot WILL God’s hand to move to the left or the right without humbling ourselves before the God of creation. And then He will lift us up and reveal to whom He desires to reveal His purpose and prophesy or imminent plans of action. Even in the middle of a “problem” with Trump’s peace plan, God is the architect and builder of humanity and so we ought to move forward with unwavering faith for what we cannot see to be evidenced by the outcomes of peace and restitution to the land of Israel.

Dear Lord Jesus and God our Father; We pray for the peace of Israel always and pray that this new peace plan that is revealed helps peace for Israel and the Middle East. Let it be an avenue of sharing the gospel to both Jew & Palestinians alike and bringing more to Jesus, and to show that it doesn’t matter if people are Jews or Gentiles, we all can be a family of God through Jesus and His salvation. Help it to develop a plan of hope and a future and a land of its own for the Palestinians so they’re not ongoing hopeless refugees that are a homeless people, so there isn’t any more fighting and bloodshed among them. Soften peoples hearts to see the truth of how the Palestinians have been unwilling to do any negotiating or compromising and have only wanted total destruction of Israel and it’s people. May their be influence and changes in getting them to change their minds. Have the other Middle Eastern Countries support the peace plan. We pray that your will be done in all this so you can get the glory. It’s in Jesus/Yashua’s powerful name we pray.
