“When in the course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth the separate and equal station to which the laws of nature and of nature’s God entitles them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.”
This first paragraph in the Declaration of Independence clearly outlines that we, and our new government as it was founded, are subject to the laws of nature and of nature’s God. We may have read over that phrase and not given thought to what it really meant or even noticed its significance in the document. But what does that important phrase really mean and why did they include it?

The first step in the restoration of our Christian heritage is the restoration of the hunger for God’s word.
Restoration of the belief that God’s word is infallible. Next is sorrow over our unbelief and disobedience.
Those wanting restoration should meet the requirements of 2nd Chronicles 7:14:
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray and seek my face; the I will
hear them from heaven, forgive them their sin and heal their land.
Thanks be to God this is possible because the Lord lives and His promises are good in perpetuity.
