DO YOU WANT CHANGE IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS? YOUR PRAYERS ARE NEEDED!
Our youth are in crisis—depression, suicide, sexual/gender confusion, and a myriad of other kinds of spiritual and emotional brokenness—and more than 85% of our nation’s children attend public schools. Christian educators are a powerful force in God’s hands to pour out His grace, love, and truth into the lives of our youth. After 15 years as a public high school educator, I joined the leadership of Christian Educators Association International (ceai.org). The Lord spoke into my spirit, “My army is already in the schools—your job is to wake them up.”
How do we help these often overwhelmed educators to step out in faith to partner with God to bring transformation to their classrooms and schools? Prayer.

First, pray directly for your local educators:
- Pray through the staff list on your local schools’ websites, and even send an email or note to each educator as you pray.
- Go to everyschool.com and sign up to pray for a specific school.
- Join a Moms in Prayer group for your local school (momsinprayer.org)
- Call your local schools to find out if they have a Christian club, then ask for the names of the faculty advisers. Pray with and for them.
- Visit your local school (bring treats!), meet the principal, and ask how you can pray.
As you intercede, pray that Christians in our schools would see what God is doing on their campus and how to partner with Him. Pray for courage and boldness in their witness. For those in public schools, pray that they would understand what they can do legally to live out their faith. (CEAI can help with this: ceai.org/whatcanwedo).
Second, Christian educators themselves need to pray. Teachers and administrators have a greater degree of authority to pray over their classrooms and schools. A high school principal faithfully prayer walked his campus every morning. After a fight broke out, he later realized he had failed to prayer walk that day.
One student was aware of a darkness that would constantly follow her around at school. When she finally described this to a teacher, he asked her, “Where is it now?” Her response was, “Oh, it’s outside…it can’t come in your room.” This teacher was a Christian who prayed over his room. We not only need prayer outside of schools, we desperately need prayer on the inside as well.
If you know a Christian educator in our public schools, encourage them to connect with us at CEAI. We encourage, equip, and empower Christian educators to walk out their calling in our schools, and we protect them legally should they face opposition.
As the Body of Christ, let us embrace these Christian educators for who they really are—possibly the most strategic missionaries in our nation. May we be faithful to intercede for them.

The Lord called us to pray across Alabama in Moms In Prayer that God would reinstate His Word back into our schools. When I last checked 13 states had signed legislation to bring it back and I thank God Governor Kay Ivey signed into law that the state will pay the legal fees if the school gets sued! That is why so many schools have not fought for their own values! Thank you Lord for doing more than we asked or imagined!
Lord, I also pray for all those families who sacrifice financially to homeschool or send their children to private Christian schools so their children can hear the whole truth in every subject area. Provide for these families. Reward them for their obedience to Your calling them to choose this path. Help us all guide our children and our children’s children to stand in awe of the omnipresent Architect of geography; to bow before the providential and sovereign Developer of history; to seek to understand the infinite, orderly, and reliable Source of mathematics; to communicate with the Author–the Logos–of language; to honor the omnipotent Master Designer of health and physical education; to gain the mind of the omniscient Inventor of the sciences; and to delight in the Creative Genius behind the arts. Amen
Amen to your prayer Lori! My family has homeschooled for 22 years. We are in our final year. God called us to homeschool for a variety of reasons, too many to list here. I can attest to the beautiful fruit that homeschooling produces, if this task is carried out with commitment, prayer, and the Lord’s guidance. However, homeschooling is not an easy path. There are very few prayer groups, churches, etc. that actually take on the burden of praying for and supporting homeschoolers. Thank you so much for caring enough to pray those of us who homeschool. Most homeschoolers I know do it as an act of obedience to the Lord’s direction for their families. So I want to lift up my fellow homeschoolers in prayer today. May God be glorified in all you do this year. May Christ’s presence be experienced not only in your “classroom”, but also everywhere that the soles of your feet go! In Jesus Name!
Amen and Amen! I am grateful God has been gracious to you, allowing you to see some fruit of your labors. Eternity will reveal even more.
Heavenly Father, I come to You in the mighty name of Jesus our Savior, asking You to minister to our schools at every level from preschool through college. Holy Spirit send forth Your power to minister to and through the Christian teachers, all other Christian staff, and the Christian students in our schools. I ask for creative ways to reach the lost teachers, other staff, students, and the bus drivers. Father, I pray a revival will take place in our schools.
Father, according to Matthew 16:19 we bind the demonic lying deceiving spirits causing gender confusion, drug addiction, sexual promiscuity, racial divide, gossip, dissensions, hatred, jealousy, selfish ambition, witchcraft, cheating on tests, and all other sin in our schools. We loose the Truth of Your Word with love, peace, joy, patience, goodness, kindness, wisdom, knowledge, understanding, and self-control. Let Thy Kingdom come and let Thy will be done in our schools as it is in heaven, at every level of education. May this reach into the unions, textbook manufacturing, school boards, and the state and federal departments of education. Amen and Amen.
In agreement with this prayer. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Yes and Amen…

Please moms, grandmoms, and aunts, join/start a Moms in Prayer group for your child’s school. It’s an hour out of your busy schedule that puts our children, their teachers, and their schools before the throne of the Lord God Almighty. We need to raise our out loud, one accord voices in the enemy’s ears. Moms in Prayer (formerly Moms In Touch) has spread internationally since 1984, yet is spreading faster outside of this country. We have become too comfortable and complacent, but the enemy is in our schools. It’s simple to do yet powerful. Take a look at http://www.MomsInPrayer.org.
Amen Debi!
You and I know this so well, Lee. May other moms catch on and battle for our schools.
Yes Debi, I used to be in a ‘Mom’s in touch’ prayer group when my children were young!!! We saw so many answers to prayer!!
I will check out the website. Bless you!
Please do. We changed our name in 2012–more clear as to what we do. My group members are moms of older children and most of us have grandchildren. The Lord bless you.
This is my first year of retirement. I prayed all the years I was in school both public and private. I did prayer walks and tried to meet with others. I also prayed on the way to school amd the way back, sometimes this encompassed several districts. I have offered to pray with one of the local principals. I will remind her again. I have seen lots of changes for the good. Teachers of faoth meed lots of encouragement and not criticism when they are on their mission field.
Praying for my son and daughter who are teachers. May they be a light and a witness to everyone they come in contact with. Thank you for the love they have for their students.
Justvprayed for them too Karen!
Please pray for a public school where yesterday bullying, physical harm to others and lawlessness have reigned and the administration is unable to put out the fire. Lord give them Holy Ghost strategy and love to take authority over the enemy.Show mercy on children who come from chaotic, impoverished homes. In Jesus’ name we pray.
Lord, please confuse the strategy of the demonic realm causing hopelessness in children’s lives and schools. Make one lie prove another wrong until they kill each other and fall to the ground, in Jesus name, Amen.
Dear prayer partners and supporters, greeting to you in the precious name of Our lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
I gate this opportunity to express my concern about our children in the public schools, colleges and universities.
We should introduce the participation of pastors as chaplains or missionaries. Christian education should be a subjects in the class rooms. Formation of prayer groups, will help the children to grow spiritually, and fight the enemy the devil. Boarding schools can have Sunday services in the campus.
My dad who was a superb high school chemistry teacher refused to be a tenured teacher this was in the 1950s & 1960s. I don’t know if there was a teacher’s union at the time.
He believed he should only be hired to teach the next year based upon his success in educating the students during the prior year.
We moved every three years because of this which was both challenging and also gave me a much broader view of life.
