I Prayed have prayed
Lord, with less than two weeks to go until the midterms, conflicts like the one between Ramaswamy and Acton are drawing national attention. Cut through the noise and expose the truth about these candidates.
Reading Time: 3 minutes

An explosive political advertisement featuring the estranged mother of Ohio Democratic gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton has ignited controversy just two weeks before Election Day. The video, which accuses Acton of lying about her childhood, has prompted serious allegations from her family and raised questions about the increasingly personal nature of the race.

Have you taken your place on the wall?

The one-minute video features Acton’s mother, Donna Arthur, urging Ohio voters to reject her daughter. Arthur disputes Acton’s public accounts of experiencing homelessness and abuse during childhood, although the allegations in the advertisement have not been independently substantiated.

From The Daily Wire:

“It’s not easy for a mother to say this, but Amy has a serious problem. She is a liar. She lies about her past. She says she grew up living in a tent. None of that is true. She’s lied her entire life,” Donna Arthur says. “Don’t vote for people who lie. Don’t let her become your governor. If you think she’ll make your life better, you’re fooling yourself. It will only get worse.”

On Tuesday morning, Acton’s campaign condemned Republican candidate Vivek Ramaswamy over what it described as an “attempt to platform their estranged and abusive mother.” The Democratic campaign released a statement from Acton’s brother, Phillip Stearns.

“It is not surprising that Vivek Ramaswamy has stooped to such a despicable low as to attempt to turn the sexual abuse Amy endured at twelve years old from our birth mother’s husband into a political talking point,” Stearns said. “After he was arrested and Amy and I were removed from their custody, our birth mother stayed married to Amy’s rapist until he died.”

The allegations have introduced painful family history into an already contentious gubernatorial contest. Acton has previously spoken publicly about growing up in unstable circumstances, including periods of homelessness, neglect, and abuse. She has credited those experiences with motivating her to pursue a career in medicine.

Despite the Acton campaign’s criticism of Ramaswamy, the source article reports no evidence connecting the Republican candidate or his campaign to the advertisement. The video’s origins, financing, and distribution remain unclear. Independent journalist Walter Curt shared the clip on X Monday evening.

Ramaswamy’s campaign confirmed that it created the ad. Spokesperson Connie Luck accused Acton of misrepresenting her record and avoiding debates, arguing that Ohio voters deserve answers about her qualifications and policy positions.

The controversy comes as Acton, Ohio’s former public health director, and Ramaswamy compete to replace term-limited Republican Governor Mike DeWine. The Cook Political Report has characterized the race as a toss-up, underscoring the potential significance of developments in the final weeks before Election Day.

For intercessors, this controversy is a reminder of the importance of truth, discernment, and integrity in public leadership. Scripture calls us to speak truthfully and exercise wisdom in our judgments. As Ohioans prepare to choose their next governor, let’s pray that unsubstantiated accusations will not obscure the facts, that painful personal experiences will be treated with compassion, that the truth will be exposed, and that voters will have the wisdom to evaluate both candidates fairly.

Amy Acton is already showing what kind of person she is by refusing to debate Vivek Ramaswamy. This behavior showcases her lack of integrity, transparency, and honesty.

Those who wish to hold public office should not attempt to hide their true motivations for running. She is clearly unfit for the governorship if she can’t even attend a debate.

I will be praying for this race in Ohio. Not only are they next door to us in Indiana, but this kind of baiting and back biting on anyone’s part to make personal problems a part of the race is a two edged sword, and as Christians, we know about that sword don’t we? I just do not care for either party anymore, they all seem out for themselves and their political agendas. They are both being used by Satan to distract people from the truth.

It bothers me more that she will not debate Ramaswany. If she can’t debate with him how can she protect us from any one. Isn’t this hiding away too.
