Father, we ask You to heal us of the hurt and heartbreak that comes from rejection. Help us to rest in our identity in You.

The following is an excerpt from our devotional series Finding Freedom from Rejection.

SPEAKING THE WORD OUT LOUD

I believe that Jesus carried my sin. He also carried my shame and rejection on the cross so I might experience acceptance. He tore the veil that once separated us and now I can boldly enter the throne of grace.  (To better understand this, we recommend The Divine Exchange)

Pray for your fellow intercessor.

God’s love for me is not based on how well I perform. In Christ, I am approved and favored. He loves me and is pleased with me, just as He is with Jesus. I will never have to strive to earn my Father’s love and acceptance. It’s already mine.

I am not an orphan. I am the son/daughter of God. I belong to Him. He said he would never leave me, so I am never alone. I give no place to loneliness to invade my thoughts and heart causing me to doubt his love for me.

I am chosen. I was handpicked by God before my birth according to His good will.  God loves me and is good. He has purpose for me, even through the pain. What happens to me matters to God, because He created me. He cares for me. He will cause all things to work together for my good.

Because Jesus’ death was so I could experience life and bring me into the family of God,  I will honor covenant relationships with friends and family in Christ.

I choose to forgive those who have hurt me and caused me unbearable pain. I choose to forgive because I have been forgiven. I release it all into the hands of God, trusting that He is a righteous judge and my vindicator.

I reject every voice that has ever spoken lies over me that go against the word of God. I am valuable. I am loved. I am accepted. I am precious in his sight. I matter to my Father. I am not an orphan. I am a son. I am a daughter and that is my highest calling that cannot be taken from me. I am who He says I am. His words are the truth and my reality, and trumps anyone’s opinion of me.

I cast down every negative thought rooted in rejection that tries to exalt itself against the Lord.

I take those thoughts captive and bring into the obedience of Christ. I will not allow myself to feel what Jesus didn’t. I cast down self pity, perceived rejection, victimization, and everything that attempts to hinder my relationship with God and people. I have the mind of Christ.
