4 Takeaways From the First Antifa Terrorism Trial

Nine defendants are on trial for allegedly shooting and attempting to ambush law enforcement at an ICE facility outside of Dallas on July 4, 2025. Five of the defendants face the most serious charges of the group, including attempted murder and providing material support to terrorists. If convicted, these five could face up to life sentences in prison for their crimes.
The Epoch Times has provided a list of four key takeaways from the trial.
First, this is the first time Antifa has been prosecuted since President Trump’s executive order designating the group as a domestic terrorist organization, making it a groundbreaking trial. Other antifa members were offered plea deals to testify against defendant Benjamin Song, who allegedly shot at law enforcement 11 times. If Song and the other eight defendants are convicted, it would empower our government and law enforcement to take down Antifa and other left-wing terror groups.
Second, the defense attorneys neglected to call any witnesses. The attorneys argued that witnesses were unnecessary, as the prosecution, according to them, failed to prove that Song and his ambushed law enforcement. Song’s attorney alleged during closing arguments that there was “no call for arms” until after police arrive on the scene and drew weapons.
Third, the trial provides a look inside Antifa. Cooperating witnesses revealed the consider themselves “victims of society” who want to protect the “marginalized,” according to the Times. Members of their specific cell reportedly held karaoke and poetry nights. The defendants also reportedly practiced shooting at an outdoor firing range after of July 4.
Fourth, this trial exposed the connection between Antifa and transgenderism. Two of the defendants in this care identify as transgender. Some witnesses allege that Song uses “they/them” pronouns, and other defendants are reportedly gay. This shows the deep connection between far-left terrorism and transgenderism, something that IFA has covered previously.
A win for the prosecution in this case would deal a significant blow to left-wing terror in America, while a win for the defense would likely cripple the government’s efforts to stop far-left extremists. Let’s pray for the jurors, for the judge, and for a just verdict!

Lord, please let us see accountability and justice in all areas. It seems so far it’s been all talk and no action. It’s discouraging, but yet I know there will be justice and accountability one day because you are a God of justice. Help us to keep our focus on you! In Jesus name.
