These 5 Midterm Races Need Your Prayer in 2026
The new year is here, and the pivotal midterm elections are just around the corner. This November, with half of his second term behind him, President Trump stands to lose the total GOP control in Washington that has enabled much of his agenda to move forward.

Luckily, Fox News has helpfully compiled a list of 5 pivotal races that need your prayer in 2026.
Georgia
In Georgia, Democratic Senator Jon Ossoff will be seeking to retain his seat. Fox notes that he, along with many other Democrats, will have to answer for last year’s government shutdown throughout the race.
While the Senator did win a runoff election against his Republican opponent in 2021, he only won by a 1.2% margin. His state also went to President Trump by 2.2% in 2024, meaning he could very well lose his seat in November. Fox notes that Republican primaries will be held on May 19.
Michigan
In Michigan, meanwhile, five Democrats are seeking to replace retiring Democratic Senator Gary Peters. According to Fox, the party’s primary race has become a three-way contest between Abdul El-Sayed, a more radical, far-left candidate, and Representative Haley Stevens and state Senator Mallory McMorow, two more moderate, run-of-the-mill-Democrat candidates.
El-Sayed is pushing for healthcare for all and greater federal restrictions on “monopolistic forces in capitalism.” Republicans have compared him to New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, arguing his stances show that Democrats are openly embracing radical socialism. The state will hold its primaries on August 4.
Minnesota
Just like in Michigan, congressional hopefuls are racing to fill outgoing Senator Tina Smith’s seat. And, while Minnesota is traditionally a deep blue state, the onslaught of recent fraud scandals creates an opening for conservative messaging.
Minnesota will hold its primaries on August 10.
Iowa
Republican Senator Joni Ernst announced in September that she was stepping down, leaving an empty seat that Democrats are hoping to flip. Although Iowa went to President Trump in 2024 by 13.3%, Republicans could still lose thanks to a lack of an incumbent advantage.
Iowa’s primaries are scheduled for June 2.
North Carolina
North Carolina Republican Senator Thom Tillis is stepping down, and eager challengers are hoping to fill his soon-to-be-vacant seat. However, in a state that both went to President Trump in 2024 and has a Democratic Governor, this election is truly anyone’s game.
The general election is likely to see former RNC Chair Michael Whatley face off against former Democratic Governor Roy Cooper. Although Whatley has never help office, he brings expansive campaign and fundraising experience to the table, and he helped bring about several GOP wins in 2024. Meanwhile, Cooper has never lost an election and has a track record for winning over more moderate voters.
North Carolina will hold its primaries on March 3.
