Americans Are Losing Faith in the Media, but Trust in the Gospel Is Growing
A recent poll revealed that trust in all of America’s institutions, especially the media and the government, is falling. However, amid the lies and deception, younger Americans are turning to scripture in unprecedented numbers.

From CBN:
For more than a decade, the American Bible Society has asked Americans each year about their relationship with scripture – asking who reads it, what they believe, and why it matters. The latest findings reveal a nation deeply divided over faith and trust.
Only 36% of Americans believe the Bible is totally accurate, while 39% say it is not. Nearly 1 in 5 people see the Bible as a tool written to control or manipulate people.
“The majority of Americans don’t ever reach for the Bible at all,” said Dr. John Plake, researcher and Chief Innovation Officer with the American Bible Society. “They’re not what we call Bible users. And what we’ve noticed here is that trust is really built on relationship. And so, when people have a relationship with their family, they trust their family. If they have a broken relationship with their family, trust gets broken with it.”
The results paint a bleaker picture concerning organizations. According to CBN, only 5% of Americans trust the media, while 6% trust the government. Organized religion, meanwhile, sits at 29%. While it’s encouraging to see that Americans trust the church more than the media and government, 29% is also still a soberingly low number.
However, the there is a bright spot among these results. While trust in the Bible may seem low, the American Bible Society found that Bible engagement rose by 35% among Gen Z and 290% among Millennials in the past year. Dr. Plake highlighted these statistics, saying, “There is a curiosity and an interest in the Bible that I’ve not seen in 36 years of full-time ministry.”
It is no surprise that the younger Americans are becoming more engaged with the Gospel. While Gen Z and Millennials were once distant from God, many have been returning to the faith in recent years, especially after the assassination of Charlie Kirk. As evil grows more and more prevalent, those who once shunned Scripture are now finding comfort in the ultimate Good.
As the nation turns away from the media, let’s pray it turns back to God!
