Trump Offers New Plan to Address Rising Healthcare Costs
With the shutdown now over, Senators are scheduled to vote in December over whether to extend tax credits for millions of Obamacare enrollees or not. As the nation argues over healthcare, however, President Trump has put forth a different idea to fix the cost crisis.
Let the IFA community know how to pray for you.
From CBN:
President Trump opposes extending the existing system of directly paying the insurance companies, saying he’d rather see the government give the money straight to the patient.
“Instead of giving it to insurance companies, big, fat, bloated insurance companies. We’re giving the money directly to the people to buy their own health care,” he said.
When asked by a reporter whether recipients will use the money to buy health insurance, the president said, “Some may. I mean, they’ll be negotiating prices. It’s really free enterprise. You can do it through an insurance company. You can also buy it direct. You know, they have savings accounts.”
Instead of giving money to massive insurance companies, President Trump is suggesting that the government gives that money to the people instead. Americans would then be free to negotiate and purchase their own health care plans as they saw fit.
This plan comes as health care premiums are expected to increase across the board in 2026. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has insisted that, if the Senate does not vote to extend the Obamacare tax credits, Americans covered by the plan may pay $500-1000 more per month for health care. And for those who get health coverage through their job instead, CBN notes a 7.5% hike is likely next year.
Some Republicans have already signed on to the President’s Plan. Senators Rick Scott and Bill Cassidy, the latter being a medical doctor, both voiced support for the plan, with the former vowing to “fix Obamacare.” Democrats, meanwhile, are resisting the idea, with Senator Ron Wyden suggesting that many patients will sign up for poor health care plans if they are put in charge of negotiating themselves.
According tot CBN, nearly half of all adults say it’s difficult to afford health care, with one-third reportedly putting off health care due to the steep cost. Let’s pray for wisdom for our leaders as they seek to solve this crisis and protect Americans.

Father, You know what the answer to this situation is. We do not need the government dictating health care, nor big pharma dictating what we need, nor insurance companies dictating what kind of or where we obtain our health care. Father, make a path that helps all of us have affordable health care. Move everyone out of the way who is causing healthcare in our country to be so expensive. Thank You. Amen.
I think this is a fabulous idea!! Truly a God given idea and I pray it happens and works!! In Jesus name amen!!
They need to DOGE the entire health system. There are so many third parties in the middle of the health care system that are causing the high price of our healthcare such as billing systems, redundant billing, discount companies that add to the expense ratio of our healthcare such costs. Fraudulent billing and excessive pricing by health care providers not to mention ridiculous drug prices. There are so many areas in the system that need to be addressed that have caused us to have the most expensive system in the world. Giving credits to companies or even giving money back to the individual is not going to solve the problem.
I love it when I see such common sense solutions proposed by our wonderful president. It is a shame both political parties can’t align with such reasonable guidance. It really takes a business mind to see our way out of the mess imposed on our country by narcissistic political leadership. Please, God, bless America and shine Your light on this dark situation.
