The General Services Administration (GSA) announced that it will begin working with Elon Musk’s xAI to give federal agencies access to Grok, xAI’s powerful artificial intelligence model.

The General Services Administration announced on Thursday morning that federal agencies will now have access to Grok 4 and Grok 4 Fast as part of an agreement with xAI, valid until March 2027, that Musk says will make government drive innovation in government.

“xAI has the most powerful AI compute and most capable AI models in the world,” Musk, co-founder and CEO of xAI, said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

“Thanks to President Trump and his administration, xAI’s frontier AI is now unlocked for every federal agency empowering the U.S. Government to innovate faster and accomplish its mission more effectively than ever before,” Musk added.

Josh Gruenbaum, federal acquisition service commissioner at the GSA, stressed the importance of this collaboration, calling it “essential.” He said the partnership will help both fulfill President Trump’s AI goals and build “the efficient, accountable government that taxpayers deserve.”

President Trump has made AI a critical part of his second term in office, creating an AI Action Plan in July. According to Gruenbaum, the President wants to modernize and streamline out government, as well as win the AI arms race against China.

This partnership follows a massive conflict between President Trump and Elon Musk, who formerly worked with the Trump administration as part of the Department of Government Efficiency. Musk did not leave the administration on amicable terms, but the two appear to have made up. Musk was spotted speaking to the President at Charlie Kirk’s memorial service, with the two partaking in a brief conversation that President Trump characterized as “nice.”

The GSA formerly announced a similar partnership with OpenAI in early August. It’s not clear how or if this new partnership will affect the old deal.
