Former Communist: America Is Now a Society of Madness
This article was originally posted on October 8, 2024. It’s author, Rich Swingle, has added the following preface:
I’ll never forget how I found out Charlie Kirk — who was followed by 100 million, who read his posts one billion times — was assassinated. This update came in from JewishBreakingNews.com:
🚨*BREAKING: Pro-Israel Commentator Charlie Kirk Has Died After Being Shot at Utah Valley University.*
I’m not sure when I first heard Charlie speak, but I know by the time he was done I was looking forward to the day I’d be voting for him for president. So very sad that I can’t.
Praying for Charlie’s young children and the millions of young people who are grieving.
I believe Satan has overplayed his hand. Praying this turns many to the Lord!
My friend and colleague, Hector Ramírez, who I interviewed for Intercessors for America, gave me permission to post his thoughts about it, as someone who used to be a communist:
“I never thought America would come to accept the Marxist ideology,” said former communist Héctor J. Ramírez, who says it has made us “a society of madness.” He pointed out that Karl Marx took ideas from Scripture, and created what Ramírez calls “Christianity without God.” Now Marx’s modern followers are putting his ideas into society and even the Church.

Ramírez explained how communists were chased out of Nazi Germany by Hitler — who was himself socialist (Nazi stands for Nationalsozialistische or National Socialists). Those communists set up in America on college campuses like Berkley, Brandeis, and Columbia with the goal of infiltrating every influential system in America. They called it “the march through the institutions.”
Ramírez said, “By the 80s in America, many people were coming out of most colleges as Marxists without knowing it. That was part of the project.”
Ramírez said, “Christ is the only answer for the problems of humanity,” and his prayer is that the Church will stop receiving the atheistic “help” provided by Marxist philosophers, return to the Bible, and help society see the dangers of embracing communism, which he now calls, “very dangerous.”
As a boy (he thinks he was between seven and nine) Ramírez saw a play and wanted to learn how to create theatre, which had moved him so deeply. He took classes from the actors, who happened to be communists. They “brainwashed” him into their ideologies, but eventually, he accepted an invitation to attend an evangelical church. I asked him why he went as an atheist, and he said he didn’t know. I told him someone was praying for him. Immediately he said, “My mom.”
Don’t stop praying for the prodigals in your life!
Ramírez’s description of how he accepted the Lord could be straight out of one of the great revivals.
In 2007 Ramírez founded Madrid’s Ars Performing Arts Center, where his wife Lilli Szinovatz continues to teach dance. In 2019 Ramírez left the leadership with others so he and Lilli could form Ars Vitalis, through which he is writing and directing material focused on reaching a post-modern world, including a musical called Animal Talk, partly inspired by George Orwell’s Animal Farm.
Ramírez was in New York City preparing to bring the musical here. He took the time to talk and pray with me about his new work, America’s slow embrace of cultural Marxism, and the upcoming election, which will either take us further toward communism or arrest that frantic pace.
Ramírez prayed that “we would be delivered from the dictatorship of fear that has been established in the West,” and that “we’ll have a government in America which will be favorable for the Gospel and will be against evil.”
Post your prayers for America to reject Cultural Marxism and for the work Ramírez is doing to expose it and show those brain washed by these ideologies the folly of following them.
