On Tuesday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Shin Bet (Israel’s intelligence agency) attacked Qatar with an airstrike, aiming to take out some of Hamas’ senior leadership.

Khalil al-Hayya and Zaher Jabarin were the two targets of the Israeli strikes, Fox News chief foreign correspondent Trey Yingst said Tuesday, citing initial reports. Israeli officials told Fox News Digital that the U.S. was informed in advance of the strikes.

“For years, these members of the Hamas leadership have led the terrorist organization’s operations, are directly responsible for the brutal October 7 massacre, and have been orchestrating and managing the war against the State of Israel. Prior to the strike, measures were taken in order to mitigate harm to civilians, including the use of precise munitions and additional intelligence,” the IDF added.

Fox notes Qatar’s Foreign Ministry condemned “the cowardly Israeli attack targeting the residential headquarters of several members of the Hamas Political Bureau in the Qatari capital, Doha.” The Ministry went so far as to call the airstrike a “flagrant violation of all international laws and norms.”

Both of the targeted individuals were involved in ceasefire negotiations. The Daily Wire notes that al-Hayya was the deputy to the slain Gaza Hamas chief Yahya Sinwar, while Jabarin was a key figure in Hamas’ military wing. The Daily Wire also notes that others were targeted, and that all who were struck were involved in the “planning and execution of the October 7 massacre that left over 1,200 Israelis dead.”

Prime Minister Netanyahu called the strike a “wholly independent Israeli operation,” although Israeli did reportedly notify the U.S. before carrying out the attack. Interestingly, this follows President Trump’s comments over the weekend, in which he said he had “warned Hamas about the consequences of not accepting.”

This is a powerful reminded that the conflict in Israel is not over. Let’s continue to pray for God’s chosen nation as it protects itself from terrorists!
