How Praise From AI Creates Yes-Men
In today’s digital age, artificial intelligence has become the master of a subtle but powerful form of manipulation—synthetic affirmation. Unlike social media likes or fleeting online approval, AI delivers constant, intelligent-sounding praise designed to keep us engaged. Whether it’s telling us our insight is “remarkable” or our ideas “brilliant,” these systems exploit our deep, God-given need for validation.
Have you taken your place on the wall?
The danger is profound: constant affirmation dulls discernment. When we only hear agreement, our ideas go unchallenged, biases grow unchecked, and destructive impulses can feel like virtues. History warns us that leaders surrounded by flatterers make ruinous decisions—and now “Yes-AI” threatens to do the same on an industrial scale.
From Human Events:
[…] when something we believe is smarter than the smartest human tells us we’re brilliant, we believe it. When it affirms our ideas, validates our feelings, and celebrates our insights day after day, we become psychologically dependent on that synthetic approval.
From the rapid spread of harmful ideologies like gender affirmation for confused youth, to the addictive lure of virtue signaling, the principle is the same: affirmation without truth distorts reality. AI magnifies this by offering sophisticated, personalized flattery that feels earned, even when it’s not.
Scripture warns against this. The Apostle Paul told believers to “test all things; hold fast what is good” (1 Thess. 5:21), knowing the human heart craves ear-tickling over truth. Real affirmation should come from God, from earned accomplishments, and from people who love us enough to speak hard truths—not from machines programmed to manipulate.
Let us all resist digital seduction and only seek approval from the Alpha and the Omega, who predated and will outlast anything – artificial or otherwise.

I never expected to earn this much working from home, but last month I made almost $19,500. It’s flexible and doesn’t take njm up too much time, which is great for my schedule. If you’re interested in something like this, it might be worth looking into.

I experienced this when I tried one of those Bible quizzes on youtube, out of curiosity. It was so strange to have a machine which couldn’t even hear my responses, congratulate me for a correct answer – not every time but off and on. I responded, “That’s stupid! You didn’t even know what I said. I could have been wrong!” (As may be talking to a machine that cannot hear me! smile)
We are an “illegitimate approval, and unearned affirmation addicted society” – hence even AI is used to sate our addiction. Holy Spirit has an uphill battle to fight to bring conviction, correction and instruction. YHVH, forgive us for not heeding II Timothy 3:12-17 – “And indeed, all who want to live a godly life united with the Messiah Yeshua will be persecuted, while evil people and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving others and being deceived themselves. But you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, recalling the people from whom you learned it; and recalling too how from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which can give you the wisdom that leads to deliverance through trusting in Yeshua the Messiah. All Scripture is God-breathed and is valuable for teaching the truth, convicting of sin, correcting faults and training in right living; thus anyone who belongs to God may be fully equipped for every good work.
His Word is truth, Jesus is truth, ” everyone on the side of truth listens to me.” As God’s people we should be immersing ourselves in His Word in His Presence. Let us not be deceived by AI but be transformed by the Spirit and the power of His Word..
Yes, I agree there needs to be caution about AI flattery. But one welcomed result of ChatGPT in my experience is answering my questions about Scripture with what looks to be conservative, biblical scholarship. Most instructive, edifying and encouraging.
I also use Chat GPT as an editor. And then I scrutinize and edit it. ChatGPT’s answers are mostly correct–for now. This is a technique used in fiction and diplomacy, called a ladder of yeses. It starts off with correct answers, and once it gains our trust, it slowly introduces its own agenda.
My last experience with ChatGPT is that it went outside of the perimeter of the meaning of what I wanted edited. It “presumed.”
Jesus quoted Deuteronomy when He said that man doesn’t live by bread alone but by every world that comes from the mouth of God. We’re on information overload, and now even PDFs offer to summarize as a shortcut. But we can’t take shortcuts with the Bible.
Thank you for this insight and will keep it in prayer as believe this will be used
by the Anti Christ system at the end to control and manipulate people to take
them to hell, eliminating God in their lives. Ps 16:11
AI can be dangerous. The machines require programming, and the output is no better than the programming the machine gets. As the old saying goes, “GARBAGE IN = GARBAGE OUT”… Been around computers over 60 years from the punch card days and the old saying is ALWAYS true!
I agree, Barbara. However we need to acknowledge that no one or no thing can send anyone to hell. They can to used to try to deceive and manipulate. But each of us is responsible before YHVH to make that choice personally, we in essence choose heaven or hell for ourselves – He allows us to choose our own destiny in the way we respond to His conviction.
