In the latest update in the Texas redistricting saga, Governor Greg Abbott has asked the state’s Supreme Court to remove Democrat House Caucus Chair Gene Wu from office over his role in leading Democratic lawmakers’ mass exodus.

Wu and the other Democrats fled Texas on Sunday to deny Republicans the quorum needed to proceed. Abbott filed a lawsuit seeking to remove Wu from office, claiming he was violating the state Constitution and effectively forfeiting his seat.
“What is at stake here? Nothing less than the future of Texas. If a small fraction of recalcitrant lawmakers choose to run out the clock today, they can do so for any, and every, Regular or Special Session, potentially bankrupting the State in an attempt to get their way,” Abbott wrote. “That means every state budget could be held hostage until the whims of a small fraction of legislators is satisfied.”
“If representatives are free not to show up whenever they choose, then Texans simply do not have a representative government. In fact, they don’t have a functioning government at all. This Court should make clear that a legislator who does not wish to perform his duties will be stripped of them,” the suit added.
The Governor’s suit argues that leaving a legislative session “constitutes a forfeiture of office. The suit also argues that Democrats’ attempts to raise money to cover the fees they will incur for missing sessions constitutes bribery.
Recently, Texas Republicans have been pushing to redistrict the Lone Star State. On Sunday, however, Democrats fled the. Since Texas requires two-thirds of its House to be present in order to conduct official business, Republicans have been unable to vote on the new redistricting maps.

Governor Abbott’s lawsuit represents a new phase in this redistricting fight, which could see Texas gaining 5 Republican House seats. Meanwhile, Republicans and Democrats across the nation have been weighing in on this conflict. The Daily Wire notes that California Governor Gavin Newsom has “vowed to ‘fight fire with fire,'” promising retaliatory redistricting in California if the new Texas maps are accepted.

It seems to me that the resolution to this problem of legislators who have left the state need to receive the same punishment when a person in the military would do the same thing. AWOL is a very serious offense.
This is what I understand the process to be:
Apprehend
Incarcerate
Strip them of their position
Strip them of their pay
And the rest of the legislature go on about the business of doing what is right for “we the people”
Then begin doing what is necessary to replace those who went AWOL in the next election.

PLEASE HELP GOVERNOR ABOTT UNSEAT THE TREASONOUS MEMBERS OF TEXAS’ GOVERNMENT WHO STAND FOR TREASON AND PEDOPHELIA.
LET THEM RETURN TO UNEMPLOYMENT AND MAJOR LEGAL CONSEQUENCES TO THEIR TREASON AND DUPLICITY.

I commend our Governor for pursuing what is righteous and just in this situation. YHVH, please grant him wisdom and discernment. Do not allow those who are acting in defiance to hold our state hostage. It feels a bit like I felt as a K teacher when one child throwing a fit held all of the children “hostage” to their interruption and disruption to the learning environment. Sad to say these are adults, and the business they are entrusted with is much more serious.
Father GOD of Righteousness, Justice and Truth, praying for Your Divine Intervention to allow the redistricting battle to be settled righteously. May all of the deception and delusions be exposed. Praying for Governor Abbott to stand strongly against the injustice, to be Your Voice for what is right and best for the citizens ofTexas. Praying for Governor Abbott to seek Your Face and to be strengthened as You lead him to Victory in Your Victorious Name LORD JESUS. Amen.
What a bunch of cry babies. The democrats having doing the redistricting to their advantage for decades and I don’t remember republicans running away. It is a no brainer according to Texas constitution they forfeit their position and taking money to pay their fines is bribery and should be dealt with accordingly. Governor newsom should shut up the democrats have been running California like a communist state for decades. The people there have very little rights. The day of judgement is coming to all the communist democrats in the entire west coast. I trust that God will take of these problems in His time. 🙏😇🙏
The Republicans are legally redistributing; the Dems have done this many times. There’s NO MAGA representation in Massachusetts, little in Illinois and Connecticut! The Dems know they are coming down and with their abandoning their seats in Texas is what’s illegal.

FATHER GOD please remove every representative that is acting like a recalcitrant child instead of an adult elected by the people to do the will of the people! Please take charge of these people and remove them from office quickly if they refuse to return and do what they were elected to do! Remove the violent and extremely childish faction from office because the people deserve better! Yes, Roberta – this conflict is definitely exposing the maturity level of our “public servants”. I pray that their constituents, or at least a majority of them, are mature enough to recognize it and not excuse it. Responsible adults do not “take their ball and go home”, when they face a possible loss in the game.
Lord Jesus, please bring Your justice to this lawless travesty. You are our Lawgiver and our Judge. You have the final say. I bind the spirits of the antichrist, insurrection, communisim, and lawlessness. You established this country to be a light to the rest of the world.
