I Prayed have prayed
Lord, we ask You to give our leaders wisdom as they prepare for the evolution of AI. We pray that neither AGI nor China would be able to threaten our national security!

As companies around the world work day and night to bolster and strengthen artificial intelligence, the Central Intelligence Agency is preparing for the possibility of computers that perform cognitively as well as humans do.

From The Washington Times:

CIA Deputy Director Michael Ellis told The Washington Times it is “still unclear” when artificial general intelligence may arrive, but the agency is gearing up.

Key to the CIA’s preparations for advanced AI is preventing technological surprise from disrupting America’s national security.

“I can’t get into the specifics of exactly what we’re looking into or working on in terms of those alternate approaches, but I will say that we do take a very broad look at this topic,” Mr. Ellis said. “And our in-house [research and development] folks — we’ve got our [Directorate] of Science and Technology, we’ve got our CIA Labs, you look at In-Q-Tel making investments — we’re taking a broad look at all of these different approaches.”

Artificial General Intelligence, more commonly known as AGI, refers to AI systems that “perform at least as well as humans across all cognitive domains,” according to the Times. It sounds like fiction, but the Times notes that China is “racing” toward AGI and even superinteligence, AI that could outperform humans.

China is reportedly even investing in efforts to engineer a “cognitive merger that physically combines man and machine,” a fact that intercessors should find chilling.

In his interview with the Times, Mr. Ellis lamented that the intelligence community has not paid close enough attention to technology in the past. According to Mr. Ellis, however, President Trump and CIA Director John Ratcliffe want to change that. The President recently released an AI Action Plan, aiming to secure American dominance in this new field. Meanwhile, Mr. Ellis notes that CIA employees have begun incorporating AI into their work.

AI is, as the Deputy Director put it, a threat to our nation security. As China works to refine this technology, it’s important that America is prepared for anything. Let’s pray for our leaders as they prepare for AI, AGI, and even superintelligence!

Artificial intelligence is chilling ! Competence and morals for living are given to human beings. How can a machine compete? This can be dangerous in the wrong hands. I do not how to even pray for or about this new technology supposedly used for good.

A machine is only as intelligent as those who program it, and it’s only advantage then can be the speed at which it processes information. Is it a daunting challenge? Yes, but mostly because it is a creation with no spirit that can be influenced by a holy God. Unredeemed man without a mind renewed by God’s Word is dangerous enough – look at the state of our world! Will it possibly be used in satan’s end-time plans? Most likely! Much of our current technology probably will be. But if we act in fear and futility – we are simply playing into his hands. I urge all to check out youtube videos from Answers in Genesis, Canada which are conversations with GROC (I think that’s correct). An intriguing use of AI!
YHVH, You knew the end from the beginning when You created this world. You knew in giving us free will that we could, and in Your foreknowledge that we would, make a huge mess of this world and our own lives. But You also knew that there would be a remnant, who would “freely” choose You – Your beloved children. I am thankful to be one of them! YHVH, You are also a Sovereign God, and our free will can only operate within the parameters of Your Sovereign will. So, in reality we have nothing to fear if we fear You. May the fear of You fall upon us – first among those who claim to know You, so whether they know You or not will be made manifest. May the fear of the Lord grip those who do know You in such a profound way that it purifies and refines us in Your holy fire. May the fear of YHVH fall upon the lost, to lead them to seek You. The fear of the LORD, YHVH is a win-win!

“You are also a Sovereign God, and our free will can only operate within the parameters of Your Sovereign will.”

    Proverbs 16:9, Proverbs 19:21
A person may plan his path but Adonai directs his steps. One can devise many plans in one’s mind but Adonai’s plan will prevail.

Yes and Amen, Mary Beth! God’s Word supports your good words. We would do well to remember:
    Do not fret
Trust in the LORD and do good
    Take delight in the LORD
Commit your way to the LORD
Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for Him
    Psalm 37
