Liberty Counsel, a Christian organization that focuses on public policy, defending religious freedom, and protecting the unborn, has just released a shocking report that alerts the public about a deadly crisis that’s happening under the radar. Their newsletter states, “Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers are giving women the abortion pill and telling them to flush the chemical abortion drugs, blood, and human remains down the toilet, which then goes directly into the nation’s water supply. And it’s not just a trace…it’s tons.”

To sound the alarm about this disturbing reality, Liberty Counsel has made this special, in-depth report titled Abortion in Our Water available to the public online.

Inside the Report

The document states, “As it relates to harm for women, like other pharmaceuticals known to cause adverse effects on our ecosystem, mifepristone forms active metabolites. These metabolites may retain the therapeutic effects of mifepristone even after being excreted by humans and passing into wastewater treatment plants (WWTP), most of which are not designed to remove them. Unfortunately, having passed through WWTP, some pharmaceuticals have been found in America’s drinking water.”

The report explains that mifepristone acts as an endocrine disruptor by blocking progesterone, a vital fertility hormone. With infertility rates affecting as many as 1 in 6 individuals globally, the question is whether these chemicals in the water have a causal effect.

Abortion-Tainted Water

Shockingly, one estimate shows that as much as “40+ tons of chemically-tainted medical waste–human tissue, placenta, and blood (aborted babies and related byproducts) are flushed into our waterways.” Even though wastewater treatment plants are not supposed to be processing these remains, the problem is that a “myriad of state laws” that regulate human remains do not always apply to aborted babies. Of course, these precious babies ARE HUMANS.

While there are some laws that are designed to prevent the remains of innocent children from entering the water treatment system, some abortion providers ignore those laws. In fact, “numerous babies have been found in wastewater treatment plants.” Sadly, whistleblowers have described body parts of babies that are tossed into “garbage disposals,” allowing the remains to go down the sink and into the water system.

Many Americans assume that the water coming out of their faucet is “clean” because it has been filtered through a regulated treatment process. They also assume safety studies have been completed to determine the purity of the water. But the truth is that “the full impact of mifepristone has never been sufficiently studied. When the EPA approved the drug in 2000, it relied on a 1996 environmental assessment that failed to consider that human fetal remains and the drug’s interactive metabolites would be making their way into wastewater systems across the U.S.” Moreover, the sheer volume of chemical abortions that are performed outside a clinical setting has increased the level of abortion pill contaminants that are entering the water system.

It is critical that robust studies are completed which determine the amount and concentration of mifepristone “byproducts” (placental tissues, fetal remains, and active metabolites) that are being flushed into our nation’s wastewater system, and how this affects human health. Additionally, the EPA “should require testing and monitoring of our water supply for the presence of mifepristone metabolites, similar to how it does for forever chemicals.”

The report stresses that “addressing this issue should unite all Americans. Clean drinking water and human dignity should not be controversial.”

All Children Deserve Dignity

The most disturbing aspect of the chemical abortion process is that, in many cases, the remains of the babies are flushed away like common excrement, as if their lives are insignificant and inhuman. Of course, the best solution is to completely ban the practice of abortion. But in a world where sin and evil still run rampant, this issue continues to be a threat to the health and well-being of our nation.

Whether a child dies in a miscarriage or is deceased through abortion, the state should provide options for dignified disposition, which include “burial, cremation, or otherwise.” In the case of chemical abortion, “new protocols must be implemented so that they can only be performed in a clinic.” If a chemical abortion is completed at home, “a catch kit” and red medical waste bag (as proposed by Students for Life of America) could be provided so they “can collect the fetal remains of their pregnancy for proper disposal.”

It should be understood that “many expectant mothers who suffer a miscarriage will usually go to the hospital, where they can receive proper treatment in accordance with all state and local laws. Even for those who do not, not all will willingly flush their baby down the toilet.” Additionally, there are no chemicals involved in a miscarriage. In contrast, with an induced abortion, the fetal remains are tainted by the chemical abortion pill.

The report explains, “For babies aborted in clinics, providers tend to dispose of them as medical waste, even at times via ‘waste-to-energy’ initiatives, which incinerate them alongside other ‘infectious/biomedical waste and non-hazardous pharmaceuticals’ for conversion into energy.” This is certainly not a dignified way to treat an innocent baby’s remains.

Abortion By Mail

In 2025, it’s a sad fact that in the United States, some women are able to access abortion pills by simply opening their mailboxes. Women can perform their own “at-home” abortions and then dispose of their baby’s remains. While most women are told they will only see blood and clumps of tissue, the reality is that many end up seeing a tiny, intricately formed baby. In that moment, they come face-to-face with the consequences of their actions. The final act of flushing this precious life down the toilet often devastates the mother, who wasn’t expecting to see anything resembling a baby.

When a chemically aborted baby’s remains are flushed down the toilet, it not only sends chemicals and human remains into the water system, but it also perpetuates the idea that the lives of the unborn are as insignificant as human waste.

Chemical Abortions Have Risen Significantly

In the past, surgical abortions were responsible for the majority of abortion deaths. For example, in 2001, only six percent of abortions were performed using chemicals such as mifepristone and misoprostol. By 2017, the number had risen to 39%. In 2022, however, at least 58% of reported abortions were chemical abortions (though this number is likely higher given that certain jurisdictions do not report to the CDC). By 2023, the percentage had risen to 63% and that number is still climbing.

The report notes, “Loosening safety protocols to allow at home abortions by nature leads to an increase in home abortions, which, in turn, increases the amount of human fetal remains and abortion pill contaminants entering our waterways.” Certainly, this increased contamination should spur the EPA on to study the effect this is having on the waterways and environment, but unfortunately, the dangers are not being investigated.

“Even if the water is disinfected, the fact that human remains are being disposed of in this manner raises ethically complex questions that cannot be fully addressed by ‘disinfecting’ our water.” It’s a sobering fact that the very water we drink, bathe in, water our plants with, and use to sustain life is tainted by the egregious sin of abortion.

What are the Health Impacts?

It must be understood that mifepristone “acts as an endocrine disruptor–that is, it disrupts the natural hormone process.” The cumulative effects of these chemicals can be harmful to human and animal health.

Studies have shown that long-term exposure of Nile tilapia to mifepristone can cause “sex reversal of XX female fish.” This particular study reported that mifepristone has been found in China’s water supply. Other studies have shown that contraceptive drugs “slash fish populations in lakes,” and can affect the health and behavior of various forms of wildlife, causing congenital disorders, mutagenesis, and/or carcinogenesis. “Endocrine disruption of aquatic organisms” and the “feminization” effect on fish populations are real problems that can occur when the water is contaminated.

Richard A. Lovett wrote in Nature magazine, “Scientists have known for years that human medications, from anti-inflammatories to the hormones in birth-control pills, are ending up in waterways and affecting fish and other organisms…in short, there is mounting evidence that excretion of contraceptives and their metabolites have immediate and long-term effects on our aquatic and human ecosystems.”

While the list of possible side effects is long, it’s extremely concerning that endocrine disruptors (which would include drugs like mifepristone) can be linked to:

• Developmental malformations
• Interference with reproduction
• Increased cancer risk
• Disturbances in the immune and nervous system

If studies already show that endocrine disruptors harm fish and other aquatic life, then it stands to reason that the sheer increase of abortion drugs now in our water system could cause serious health risks to human beings as well.

Liberty Counsel explains that when it comes to abortion drugs, “No other pill is uniquely designed to end life in the womb and leads to human remains entering the water supply.” The possible effects on human fertility, miscarriage rates, and overall health cannot be ignored. You can also sign a petition by clicking on this link, which demands that Congress and the EPA act now to investigate the issue of abortion-tainted water through Congressional hearings, as well as require gold standard science to determine health risks. The details contained in this shocking report are almost too much to handle. Thankfully, we have an all-powerful God who is more than capable of helping us put an end to this heartbreaking issue.
