A former U.S. Coast Guard was recently arrested over threatening to assassinate President Trump over the span of several years, according to newly unsealed court documents.

Virginia resident Peter Stinson, who served in the Coast Guard as a Lieutenant from 1988 to 2021 and received awards for his sharpshooting skills, is named in the criminal complaint by the Federal Bureau of Investigation for allegedly leveling a host of violent online threats against Trump, ABC News reported.

Prosecutors said Stinson, who was also a FEMA instructor during the same time frame — and “self-identified” ANTIFA member — used his accounts on X and Bluesky to detail threats against Trump from 2020 through the current year, including allegedly talking about how he would “pull the trigger” to get rid of Trump.

Stinson made disturbingly realistic threats, offering in one instance to “pitch in $100 for a[n assassination] contract.”

RedState details how Stinson’s threats did not end after a gunman attempted to take the then-former President’s life in Butler, Pennsylvania. Rather, he seemingly criticized the shooter’s plan, writing, “Most of us are not capable. As noted before, I’m not a good enough shot. Very few people are. Somebody needs to learn this lesson… You want to play in the big leagues, you need the talent. Luck is not a plan… Execution is critical.”

Stinson’s threats are only the latest symptom of the cancerous assassination culture in America. Let’s pray for protection for the President, and let’s pray for an end to threats and violence in our nation!
