Over the weekend, Israel began what is sure to be a long and weary war with Iran, preemptively striking the nation’s nuclear capabilities. Now, the rest of the world is taking sides.

Since the conflict began, the U.S. has been in full support of the Jewish State. In fact, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth recently ordered the deployment of “additional defensive capabilities to the Middle East” according to The Times of Israel. Whether America will become directly involved in the war, however, remains to be seen. Breitbart recently shared an article detailing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s thoughts:

“I’m always amazed at people who say they care about America and they don’t want a war. They’re right,” he told Fox’s Bret Baier. “This is a forever war that Iran is doing without nuclear weapons. And imagine what they will do if they have them. I think for the security of Israel, America, the world, we must make sure that they don’t have these weapons, and the means to deliver them. And they’re working on both.”

He noted that Iran had attacked Americans, and American soldiers, and had even tried to assassinate President Donald Trump — twice.

Thus far, President Trump, always a fan of diplomacy, has seemed reluctant to join the war. He has, however, said that “the full strength and might of the US Armed Forces will come down on [Iran] at levels never seen before” if it attacks America.

Meanwhile, in the Middle East, Iran struck Israel again on Monday. The Times of Israel reported at 5:27 PM ET (or 12:27 AM of the next day in Israel) that sirens sounded across southern and central Israel “following a ballistic missile attack from Iran.”

Before the missile attack, Prime Minister Netanyahu held a press conference in which he clarified his nation’s goals. From The Times of Israel:

Netanyahu specifies that Israel insists on “three central results: the destruction of the nuclear program, the destruction of the production capacity of ballistic missiles, and the destruction of the axis of terror. And we will do what is necessary to achieve those goals. And we are coordinated with the United States.”

He says the regime could fall as a consequence of those results, noting that it is weak and that Israel is changing the face of the Middle East. “There could well be vast changes in Iran,” he says.

Netanyahu would not confirm, however, whether Israel will resort to eliminating Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. A different Times article detailed his response:

Asked about whether Israel intends to kill Iran’s leader Ali Khamenei, he says, “I won’t go into all our war plans… We will do what is necessary. We are on the way to victory.”

As this conflict continues to develop, it could have far-reaching consequences that ripple throughout the Middle East. Let’s pray that God protects Israel and America from the terror of Iran!
