What is IFA Capitol Connections?

IFA Capitol Connections is a heartfelt program designed to uplift elected officials through prayer and personal notes. Each month, IFA provides a specific prayer theme to guide your messages, ensuring they are focused, encouraging, and rooted in faith. By participating, you’ll not only cover leaders in prayer but also foster relationships with them, letting them know they have constituents who care deeply about their service.

This isn’t about politics or agendas—it’s about building relationships with those in our government making decisions for our states and nation. Whether they share your values or not, your prayers and kind words can make a lasting impact. Being able to speak into government is much easier when you have a relationship with those in government. Regular communication, letting your leaders know you are praying can open doors, create answered prayer, and impact those serving your district and state–even those who don’t share your values!

How Does It Work?

Getting started with IFA Capitol Connections is as easy as 1-2-3:

1. Use Your Own Notecard: Write your message on a personal notecard to make it authentic and heartfelt. This isn’t a campaign—it’s a genuine expression of care.

2. Focus on the Monthly Prayer Topic: Each month, IFA provides a specific prayer theme to guide your message. Use the suggested example or personalize it to keep your note focused and meaningful.

3. Be Positive, Encouraging, and Brief: Keep your message uplifting and free of requests, complaints, or political commentary. The goal is to build a relationship by letting leaders know you’re praying for them.

This Month’s Prayer Topic: Praying for Leaders and Their Staff

For the first month, the focus is on praying for elected officials and their staff. Here’s a sample message you can use or adapt for the month of June:

Dear Rep. or Senator [Name],
I want you to know that as your constituent, I am praying for you as you serve our [district/state]. I know that making decisions on behalf of citizens is not an easy job. I am praying that you and your staff find the wisdom you need to serve our state. 1 Timothy 2:1-2 is a verse that might encourage you!

Not sure who your state or federal officials are? IFA has you covered! Visit the IFA website at ifapray.org/pray-for-america#your-leaders, click on “PRAYER,” scroll to “Pray for Your State Leaders,” and enter your zip code. You’ll get a personalized list of your elected officials, complete with their mailing addresses once you click into each one. It’s that simple!
