On May 16, 2025, the White House officially announced the appointment of two controversial figures to President Donald Trump Names Advisory Board Members to the Religious Liberty Commission: Ismail Royer and Shaykh Hamza Yusuf, co-founder of Zaytuna College.

Ismail Royer, currently serving as the Director of the Islam and Religious Freedom Action Team at the Religious Freedom Institute, has a complex history. In 2003, he pleaded guilty to weapons charges related to assisting the Pakistan-based militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba and served over a decade in prison. Since his release, Royer has worked with various nonprofit organizations to promote interfaith dialogue and religious freedom.
Shaykh Hamza Yusuf is a prominent American Islamic scholar and co-founder of Zaytuna College, the first accredited Muslim liberal arts college in the United States. He has been recognized for his efforts in promoting classical Islamic learning and interfaith understanding. Yusuf has also served as an advisor to the Center for Islamic Studies at Berkeley’s Graduate Theological Union and was a member of the State Department’s Commission on Unalienable Rights during the first Trump administration.
These appointments have stirred concern across multiple sectors. According to an official release by the White House on May 16, 2025, Ismail Royer and Shaykh Hamza Yusuf were formally named as members of the new Advisory Board of Lay Leaders (Source: whitehouse.gov). Meanwhile, coverage by the Times of India highlighted Royer’s past involvement with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) training camps in Pakistan, citing his 2003 conviction and later advocacy work as part of the context surrounding his selection (Source: Times of India).
It is important to reflect that what is being called the ‘Religious Liberty Commission’ could, in practice, become a vehicle for spiritual compromise — a platform that ushers in not liberty, but bondage. If not guarded carefully, it risks enabling the very destruction of the Judeo-Christian values upon which America was founded. In the name of inclusion, we may be witnessing the erosion of truth.
I remember clearly our dark spiritual drought in Europe during the 1990s, especially in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, where I lived for 33 years. I was only 30 years old. During that time, ecumenism swept across Europe. The only nourishment we had came from American preachers via TBN. But then came the spread of mosques, the dilution of doctrine, and the persecution of those who dared to preach the gospel to Muslims.
I was among them. As a theology graduate, I taught classes at Albeda College in world religions—until the subject was renamed ‘levensbeschouwing’ (view on life), and I was forced to teach all religions equally. It was no longer about truth, but about appeasement. The terror of radical Islam began to grow from within, dressed in polished suits, well-funded, and socially accepted. The mayor became a Muslim. Society shifted.
We evangelicals fought for an evangelical school and eventually won — but by then, the church was weakened. We were losing youth to Islam, drawn not by faith but by the money, glamour, and influence of Gulf oil oligarchs and UAE propaganda. We saw Dutch, German, and Scandinavian young men and women — beautiful, bright, and full of promise — converting to Islam, seduced by its structure, discipline, and false promises of belonging and purpose.
We European leaders and the Church fell into the trap — not being watchful, and thinking it was a good and amazing thing to reach the Muslims for Christ. But in our zeal, we compromised, and we failed. We underestimated the spiritual battle and overestimated our influence. May America not fail the same way.
And among the prominent names on this commission is Pastor Jentezen Franklin — a man whose voice once echoed across Europe, bringing hope and clarity through the TBN broadcasts during some of our darkest spiritual years. Many of us were strengthened by his boldness and love for the Word.
We, as European leaders, once believed that we could influence from within — that our presence would bring light. But instead, many were slowly drawn into compromise.
I speak to my fellow pastors in Europe from that generation — they understand. But in America, they are not listening.
We are witnessing a convergence: a compromised America elevating controversial voices, even as Israel fights for its prophetic survival.
I have seen this unfold in Europe and the UK — the rise of so-called ‘ecumenism,’ which often dilutes the gospel under the guise of unity. It is now one of the strongest ideological pillars influencing the White House. This is not true spiritual reconciliation; it is a counterfeit unity that weakens the Church’s prophetic voice.
However, we must not forget the values upon which America was founded — values that defend biblical truth and uphold the Judeo-Christian principles that shaped the very fabric of this nation. These are values that honor God, uphold truth, and recognize the covenant God made with Israel. The erosion of these foundations places not just America, but the world, at spiritual risk.
“Gideon’s Chariots” Has Begun

The name is no accident. Gideon, in Scripture, led a small remnant against overwhelming odds—not with human strength, but by the command of the Lord. These modern chariots are not merely tanks and aircraft—they are prophetic instruments of divine purpose.
The war on the ground is intensifying. The war in the spirit is far deeper.

Alert them to the dangers of appeasing false gods and not recognizing the God of Israel as The One True God….Creator of Heaven and Earth, and Jesus Christ, His Only Son, our Redeemer, Savior of the world, The Lamb sacrificed once and for all, for the sins of the world. I think it is more a concern that it reveals something about Trump’s heart rather than the appointment in and of itself. That is combination with a $400 million dollar jet to be used by President Trump and his allowing donations to his crypto firm, the building of Trump apartments and an 18 hole golf course in the Middle Ages indicate a heart that is not standing firm. His reaching an agreement with Houthis which did not include protection for Israel is concerning.

let us not lose sight of the possibility that God is providing an opportunity for these two controversial figures to come to know Him through this commission. Jesus moves in ways that we might not choose. But we have to remain vigilant in prayer and monitoring.
In states, such as Iowa, where school choice vouchers are offered, Muslims are pouncing on the opportunity to open “secular schools” that likely will introduce Islamic teaching surreptitiously. While the motive of the school choice law was to offer competition to public schools who push woke ideology and global “citizenship,” the soft underbelly of this law is likely to be exploited by “moderate” Muslims under the banner of religious freedom and “ecumenism” to eventually establish a majority in the voter rolls to push sharia law and an Islamic caliphate.
Heavenly Father, we ask for protection of your word, truth to be magnified over any other religion being presented to this nation. You alone are our God, protector, and redeemer. Continue to reign supreme in this great nation the United States of America. In Jesus name AMEN

“Thank you for your Truth-telling! I have been warning about the dangers of accepting ‘religious freedom’ as being the same thing that the authors of our constitution and bill of rights meant when they used the term. It is now interpreted and applied very differently. I contend that it seeks to equalize all religions in our present day, as you experienced, Tania. Whereas they were probably not envisioning anything other than different flavors of Judeo-Christian belief. I contend also that true Christianity is not a religion at all, it is a relationship. But many if not most Christian institutions are a religion, and not all within it know Yeshua, and through Him, know Abba.
Tania, I’m very concerned about this report, because we just heard intel at the IFA Policy and Prayer Conference yesterday in Austin, TX from John Guandolo about the threat of Islam, the OIC, and sharia law. We also heard from the Lt. Governor Dan Patrick who is heading up this Commission. The two of them need to talk! I just told my husband last night on the way home – “Well, at least, there are no Muslims included in this Commission (yet)!” So much for that hope!
I wanted to ask John Guandolo, why the church seems deaf to former Muslims who have tried to sound a warning – like Kamal Saleem, Samaa Habib, son of Hamas, to name a few. I’m appalled at the depth of spiritual blindness in those who claim to know Yeshua, and yet trust that Muslims should be given places of influence in our government. Keep speaking out!!”
YHVH, You have sent many who have rejected Islam and embraced Yeshua to warn us in this nation. And because we have allowed the invasion of the very people who call us “the great satan”, many if not all of them are in mortal danger. Instead of recognizing the danger and heeding Your warning, many believed the lie that “Islam is a peaceful religion”. Wake up Your children, Abba. Call forth the remnant to discern the times, and walk in wisdom and discernment.
Lord Jesus, I pray that everyone involved in this decision making that occurs in the white House, President Trump, included, be given a double portion of Your guidance and wisdom. May anything that does not align with Your will fall to the wayside immediately. Discernment of spirits is vitally important in this situation. If something is true, we must stand on it. If there are some that come against it, we must be prepared to defend the truth by giving evidences. If our evidences are not believed, then we must leave it alone and PRAY for the LORD to convince the hard hearted.

I agree with you one hundred percent. I was HORRIFIED when I read this article. Look at the state of the UK and Europe. Who is influencing President Trump in this direction. Much prayer and intercession needs to go into this situation it is DIRE.

Trump is probably trying to appease his allies in the Middle East. The ones who gave him a $400 million jet, donated 3.5 billion to his son-in-law’s fund and another $2 billion in a Trump crypto firm and helped fund an 18 hole golf course, and, of course, contributed $6 billion to Mr. Musk’s xAI fund. Sadly this rings true. President Trump is as human as King David was. He needs our prayers now more than ever before. The forces of evil are at work. Much intercession and spiritual warfare must be employed against them in Jesus Name.
Thank you for this post. My desire is to hear the heart of the Lord and not draw my own conclusion. He has brought me back to his word. No matter what things look like I pray His will be done.
I pray for Muslims to come to Jesus and many are! I am reminded that it was an Ishmaelite that saved Joseph when he was sold by his own brothers. They brought him to Egypt and allowed God to save Joseph and Jacob’s line. Only I Am figures that out. Also note it was Ishmael and Isaac who came together to bury their father, Abraham. No, I’m not sympathetic to their religion, but only trying to hear, and trust God without trying to draw conclusions. In Him I trust.
A few weeks back just after Easter I was encouraged by the Lord to pray for India. A short week later I heard India had attacked Pakistan. Prayed for the Christians there to be strengthened and looked into another dangerous spiritual entity that doesnt tolerate Christianity. I’ve heard it wants to rise even in our country. Praying for the strengthening of Christians in India and conversion. Praying for Muslins to come to Christ. The Cross and Jesus Christ is the only hope.

I believe that this is an act of appeasement which is the Trojan Horse that carries compromise and then leads to destruction. Woe to America if we don’t call these actions out. Yes, many, many Christians think it is God’s will that Muslims are brought here in droves so they can be evangelized. Such fallacies in this idea, chief of which is that we can’t even disciple our own children and keep them in the church. Christians don’t understand that Islam is a political ideology that always seeks to dominate. The religion is just a beard for the totalitarianism. It’s very sad that two people who are followers of Islam have been appointed to a religious freedom committee. The history of Islam is anti-Christian and for the most part anti-American although there are some exceptions concerning anti-Americanism. We need to pray that only the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and the Father of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be the only one who provides influence for our nation!
Our God is always in control. Please remind and guide President Trump and his advisors to seek God’s guidance continually as they lead the nation and protect it from infiltration of wolves in sheep’s clothing.
Remind them and each of us always to preface and end our prayers by saying “as per your will God, not our will” as Jesus did the night before his crucifixion: “Jesus Himself pleaded for God’s will to be done in the Garden of Gethsemane. Prior to His crucifixion, He prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will” (Matthew 26:39). Jesus was committed to seeing God’s will accomplished, and the prayer “Thy will be done” was a theme of His life.

Most simply, to pray, “Thy will be done,” is to ask God to do what He desires.

I’ve been warning the people of God for years about the potential takeover by Islam during the end times. Many refused to accept the warning, but we’re clearly beginning to see the Book of Revelation unfold before our very eyes. Even our small City in Michigan has seen an alarming increase in the Muslims presence within the past few months. Most women clothed in all black with only their eyes showing, and men in Arabian attire, headdress and all! Some have begun to show up in our library! I believe that many of them are illegals. We must continue to pray without fail!
