House Committee to Discuss Reconciliation Bill Tomorrow
The House Budget Committee voted to advance the President’s “big, beautiful bill” Sunday night, but, as Roll Call notes, “the internal debate is far from over.”
Let the IFA community know how to pray for you.
From Roll Call:
Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, one of four conservative Budget Committee members who agreed to vote “present” Sunday to allow the House to move forward with the bill designed to implement Trump’s policy agenda, said in a statement, “the bill does not yet meet the moment.”
…
Among the newest changes is the removal of a provision opposed by Rep. Michael R. Turner, R-Ohio, that would force federal agency employees, lawmakers and congressional staff to contribute more of their salaries to their pension plans. The effective dates of two other pension-related provisions would be delayed to 2028.
Roy said provisions related to curbing spending enacted under President Joe Biden, especially for environmental and energy programs, needed to see further cuts. He also criticized the bill’s Medicaid language.
…
More moderate Republicans and even some conservatives from states that took part in Medicaid expansion have decidedly different vows. And that all underscores the challenge facing Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., and other members of the House GOP leadership in the days ahead as they try to get the bill through through the Rules Committee, with a finalized manager’s amendment, on Wednesday.
Hardliners in the House continue to call for more spending cuts, while Republicans in more vulnerable districts are calling for the opposite. Democrats, meanwhile, are continuing to accuse Republicans of seeking to cut Medicaid entirely.
While President Trump congratulated the Budget Committee for advancing the legislation, his bill is still a ways away from his desk. Meanwhile, with each passing day, the deadline draws closer and closer.
Roll Call notes that the Rules Committee, which “almost certainly will” make changes to the bill, will convene to discuss the legislation at 1:00 AM ET on Wednesday, May 21.
Let’s pray that, as the Rules Committee meets, its members handle the bill wisely and are sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Let Your will be done, Lord!

I think they should fight to get the subjects chip Roy spoke of addressed and changed.
Father in Heaven, Just as in the Continental Congress our government leaders decided to pray for unity, and they committed the process to You for Your guidance and Your will, please let our leaders commit their way unto You! Please make their path straight and let Your complete and total will be done in our government as it is done in Heaven! Please add or remove from our President’s one big beautiful Bill as You see fit, Lord! Let there be unity among our government leaders to accomplish Your plan for U.S. and to bring glory to Your Holy Name with godly laws, fiscal restraint, and godly leaders. In the Mighty Name of Jesus we ask!
We pray for Your wisdom for the passing of this bill for what is fair for all. Be our guide and director, change the minds and hearts that what is passed is fair for all. Your intervention is needed.
I agree – “Let’s pray that, as the Rules Committee meets, its members handle the bill wisely and are sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Let Your will be done, Lord!
Lord Jesus, I pray for Your will to prevail in the proceedings in the House regarding this proposed piece of legislation.
Lord, I pray that you would facilitate a bill that moves our nation in the right DIRECTION toward a better economic condition and fairness, improving the financial favor for the most freedom, productivity and godliness. Praise your name!
Praying that leftist judges and leftist democrats will see the evil related to housing illegals who have harmed US citizens…the evil related to the genital mutilation of minors and the evils of supporting partial birth abortion and other infanticide. praying that the Supreme Court stops enabling this agenda.
