Intel for Intercessors: Russ Vought
Russell “Russ” Vought “is a dangerous person to our government,” according to Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.). That’s great news for those who think our government has been moving in the wrong direction.
Connect with others in your state in prayer.
On February 7 Vought took office as director of the Office of Management and Budget, which he also ran during President Donald Trump’s first term.
The AP calls director of OMB “one of the most influential positions in the federal government.” During Vought’s hearing, Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer called the OMB “the most important agency in Washington.”
According to the White House he is responsible for “overseeing the implementation of the president’s policy, management, and regulatory agendas across the Executive Branch.”
In a November 18, 2024, interview with Tucker Carlson, which IFA posted, Vought described OMB:
It is the president’s most important tool to dealing with the bureaucracy and administrative state, and the nice thing about President Trump is he knows that, and he knows how to use it effectively.
Vought was the keynote speaker for the opening night of IFA’s inaugural Policy & Prayer event, October 24, 2022. He spoke of how we’re living in a post-Constitutional country. He said “half of our country has walked away from [the Constitution] and never told anyone.”
He wants to use his role to return to our Constitution.
The Democrats are so against Vought’s vision that they filibustered for 30 continuous hours at his hearing, only to come up against the mandate of the voters. Vought was sworn in with a party-line vote of 53-47.
Those threatened by Vought’s desire to return to our founding document highlight that he “called for trauma within the bureaucracies.” He told Carlson, “Yeah, I called for trauma within the bureaucracies. The bureaucracies hate the American people.”
Vought began working at the OMB at the beginning of President Trump’s first term and stepped up as acting director. In July of 2020, he was officially sworn into that role.
President Trump picked Vought to reprise the position, writing, “Russ knows exactly how to dismantle the Deep State and end weaponized government, and he will help us return self governance to the People.”
Vought’s faith
The son of an electrician and a school teacher, Vought accepted Jesus as his Savior when he was four years old. He attended Christian camps and graduated from Wheaton College in 1998. He went on to earn his J.D. from the George Washington University School of Law.
Vought told those at the Policy & Prayer event that he’s been called a “Christian nationalist,” and he wrote an essay for Newsweek in which he addressed the derogatory term. He pointed out that our founders “were not intending to create a secular society divorced of all religion.” He cited George Washington and Joseph Story, one of our first Supreme Court justices, referring to respect for God as essential to a properly functioning nation.
Here’s how he defined “Christian nationalism”:
An orientation for engaging in the public square that recognizes America as a Christian nation, where our rights and duties are understood to come from God and where our primary responsibilities as citizens are for building and preserving the strength, prosperity, and health of our own country. It is a commitment to an institutional separation between church and state, but not the separation of Christianity from its influence on government and society. It is a belief that our participation in the political system can lead to beneficial outcomes for our own communities, as well as individuals of all faiths.
Conservative background
Between the Trump administrations, Vought founded the Center for Renewing America and served as its president. Their mission is:
…to renew a consensus of America as a nation under God with unique interests worthy of defending that flow from its people, institutions, and history, where individuals’ enjoyment of freedom is predicated on just laws and healthy communities.
During that time Vought wrote a 25-page chapter for Mandate for Leadership: The Conservative Promise, the handbook for Project 2025, in which he pointed out that the Constitution gives executive power to the president, not to agencies. He wrote:
Sadly, however, a president today assumes office to find a sprawling federal bureaucracy that all too often is carrying out its own policy plans and preferences—or, worse yet, the policy plans and preferences of a radical, supposedly “woke” faction of the country.
Goal 32 of the 45 goals of the Communist Party USA, read into the Congressional Record in 1963, is “Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture – education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc.” So Vought is literally working against Communist goals.
Before working at the OMB the first time, Vought worked in D.C. for various grassroots and public policy organizations, and he spent his last seven years before his first White House stint as vice president of Heritage Action for America. Their mission is “to fight for conservative policies in Washington, D.C., and in state capitals across the country.”
Vought needs our prayers.
Though divorced in 2023, Vought was married to Mary Grace Vought and was raising two daughters, one with cystic fibrosis, when he addressed the Policy & Prayer event. He touched upon the importance of prayer for all of our leaders, telling about certain actions from his time directing the OMB during President Trump’s first term. He said,
We would take a hard position on something like critical race theory, and I remember on behalf of the President, signing … the order to stop and ensure that it would not be funded. And I thought to myself, “I’m gonna have a riot on my lawn in the morning.” And yet, I didn’t. And I didn’t because there were people across the country, around the world, that were praying for Christians in positions of power and interceding on my behalf. And they didn’t know my name, but that’s what they were praying for. And so, thank you for that.
Please pray:
For the Armor of God to be activated in all ways.
For protection (Psalm 91).
For wisdom (James 1:5).
For favor (Psalm 90:17, ESV).
For persistence in prayer (Luke 18:3).
For effectiveness (Col. 3:23-24).
For reliance on God (Psalm 20:7-8).
For blessing (Numbers 6:24-26).

Father, thank you for Russ Voight. Give him wisdom and discernment as he serves you and our country. Protect him from those who would destroy him and confuse them in their attacks and thoughts. We praise your name for your work in our country.
First off, Rosa Delauro of CT is borderline “crazy”…just ask those who work with & around her. They will tell you (not publicly) that she’s not playing with a full deck of cards. That’s not surprising as she thought Biden was both “sane & a hero” – we all know that was exposed as the ultimate fraud & cover-up.
Russ is being steered by God. His work, mindset & policy recommendations have the fingerprint of God all over them. That’s why the dems & left continue to lie about him while attacking him.
Lord, we pray for You to pour daily upon Mr. Vought, Your great wisdom & favor…so much that he can barely contain it. Surround him, his office & dept. with courageous, wise & godly or god honoring people. Remove anyone from around Mr. Vought anyone who compromises toward weakness & evil. Let those who seek to destroy good works & policies be rooted out immediately Lord. We ask those things in Your holy name…amen.
In these challenging days, we are empowered by the Holy Spirit to pray and declare protection, wisdom and boldness by faith on President Trump and his God-fearing counselors and staff to carry on what God has started on this country’s leadership to protect Israel and display His glory to tte world.
Philiipians 1:6 & 2:13 assures us of the Pres and VP’s God-given assignment will be completed for His glory and honor! Victory belongs to our Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ! 1 John 5:4.
Father God, please protect and empower Mr. Vought and provide him Your wisdom and Truth to continue to serve our country well. Amen
I too add my prayers for Russ that he might reverse the Marxist takedown of our Constitution. And also that he might see that we are NOT a Christian nation. But a nation founded on Biblical moral values and belief in the one, true God. That’s different from declaring we are a “Christian nation.” As any Jew living in America can tell you.
I loved reading about Russ Vought and Thank You God for this man of faith. Continue to anoint his ministry and use him as the ‘fragrance of Christ’. May his ‘good ideas’ and wisdom be greatly useful to our country.
Lord Jesus please fill Russ Voight with your power & strength to restore our Country to our Constitution.
