Father, we thank You for the passage of this continuing resolution. As it moves to the Senate, we pray You would give our lawmakers in the upper chamber wisdom and prudence.

After a great deal of tension and infighting, the House managed to pass a continuing resolution almost entirely along party lines.

From Fox News. House Republicans passed a federal funding bill backed by President Donald Trump largely on their own Tuesday.

It also marked one of the rare occasions in recent memory that a majority of House Democrats voted against a bill that would prevent a government shutdown.

The bill passed largely along partisan lines in a 217 to 213 vote. Just one Republican, Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., voted against the bill. One lone Democrat, Rep. Jared Golden, D-Maine, joined the rest of the GOP in advancing it. ā€¦

The measure, a short-term extension of fiscal year (FY) 2024 funding known as a continuing resolution (CR), will now head to the Senate. It must pass there and get to Trumpā€™s desk before the end of Friday, March 14, to avert a partial shutdown.

In a major victory for Trump and House GOP leaders, however, several House Republicans who professed to never have voted for a CR supported the current bill. ā€¦

And despite passing the House, the legislation could still see an uphill climb in the Senate. At least one Republican there, Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., has already rejected the bill.

Republicans will likely need the help of as many as eight Democrats to meet the upper chamberā€™s 60-vote threshold.

The bill includes an additional $8 billion in defense dollars in an apparent bid to ease national security hawksā€™ concerns, while non-defense spending that Congress annually appropriates would decrease by about $13 billion.

Thereā€™s also an added $6 billion for healthcare for veterans. ā€¦

What do you think of the CR? Share your prayers as it moves to the Senate below.

Healthcare for veterans jumped out at me. For too long our veterans have been put on back burner while we sent $ to other countries (per DOGE). Money for defence is also important as we build our military back to a force to be feared and respected. And if we can do that while cutting $13 billion in wasteful spendingā€¦..looks like a good plan to me. Why would any Republicans opposed it

God have mercy on taxpayers, voters and citizens of USA and heaven. We have seen our condition and are found wanting but for the grace we so deeply depend on in our needs across the spectrum of our nation.

My understanding is there is confusion regarding passage of CR. It is being said it doesnā€™t require a super majority and the news is creating controversy on this matter. We need to know the facts on this. Thanks.

If the senate does not pass CR aka continuing resolution bill as the house did day before yesterday, it will translate into a crippling and delay of Trumps agenda to change things, which, right now, lies within all of his Executive Orders. Those things have to be legislated through Congress into law. The senate vote due by tomorrow, March 14 is critical to Donald Trumpā€˜s agenda for our nation.

Trump Agenda at Risk

If the continuing resolution does not pass in the Senate, it would likely mean that the Trump administrationā€™s legislative agenda faces significant delays and obstacles. The failure to pass the CR could result in a government shutdown, which would divert attention and resources away from advancing the administrationā€™s priorities. Additionally, the reconciliation process, which is crucial for passing major legislative changes with a simple majority in the Senate, would be jeopardized if the CR is not passed, as it would require both chambers to agree on a budget resolution before moving forward with reconciliation legislation.
The reconciliation process is seen as the main vehicle for enacting many of the Trump administrationā€™s agenda items, including tax cuts, deregulation, and border security measures. Without the CR, the administration would have to find alternative ways to advance its legislative goals, which could be more challenging given the procedural hurdles and potential opposition from Democrats.
Republican leaders are already facing difficulties in aligning the House and Senate budgets, and a failure to pass the CR would likely exacerbate these issues. This could lead to further delays and negotiations, potentially pushing important legislative actions into the next fiscal year or beyond.

I agree with Maggieā€™s prayer, Lord, and simply add a prayer that You work in our Congress members to bring conviction if they are simply be obstructionists for the sake of obstructing an agenda because of whose it is, or because it doesnā€™t belong to them and/or their party. These are poor reasons on which to base a personal vote. Please raise up statesmen to serve in our Congress, and retain any who are already there.

Lord of hope, we thank you for the work of our congressional representatives to work for stewarding the resources you have graciously given our nation. Since your Word tells us that we do not battle flesh, but demonic forces, we ask to bind all demonic agendas that would oppose your purposes for our future and allow a just spending agenda without graft to pass the Senate today, in your Holy name, King Yeshua. Amen
