Recently I visited Sedona, Arizona to enjoy the picturesque landscape filled with giant rock formations and endless blue skies. It didn’t take me long, however, to realize that Sedona was famous for more than its hiking trails and healthy cuisine.

While the views of nature were breathtaking, this city, dubbed the New Age capital of the United States, was filled with countless crystal shops, as well as mediums offering everything from psychic readings to aura photos and yoga retreats. Reiki massages, chakra clearing, tarot readings, quantum hypnosis, shamanic workshops, sacred earth walks, alchemy activations and “wolf magic” were just a small sample of what Sedona offered to anyone who was seeking to “awaken their spirit.” Ads and tourism brochures told visitors they could be energized, enlightened and healed, but only if they seek the mysterious and the unknown.

Spiritual Deceptions

As a Christian I knew that a great deception was taking place all around me. People were actively seeking communication with spirits of the demonic realm. While the majority of these New Age enthusiasts would insist that they’re interacting with benevolent spirits and “guides,” the Holy Spirit issued a loud warning to my heart. In their quest for healing and transformation, these New Age pilgrims were entering a realm of cunning counterfeit spiritualism, where they would be easily misled.

Aliens and Vortexes

Another particularly disturbing trend I noticed in Sedona was the huge interest in “aliens” and UFOS (also known as UAPs–unidentified aerial or anomalous phenomenon). Because of its reputation as a UFO hotspot, many New Agers traveled to this city with the specific intent of communicating with extraterrestrials and UFOs. Scores of UFO tours were available for hopeful contactees.

Known for its numerous vortex sites, Sedona has become a mecca for New Agers interested in the occult and aliens. These areas of “enhanced energy” are believed to “facilitate prayer, meditation, and mind/body healing,” while allowing one to explore the relationship between the soul and the divine. Many people hike to vortex sites, believing they will encounter a “universal life force energy” that will bring emotional healing, personal empowerment, or a deep connection to the spirit world. Others hope they will make a connection with their “alien” guide.

Back in 1987 an international event called the Harmonic Convergence took place atop Bell Rock in Sedona, as thousands meditated and prayed for the arrival of a giant spaceship that would usher in a new age of peace and harmony. When these galactic saviors didn’t show up to unify the souls of the world, that didn’t squelch the enthusiasm which still goes on to this day.

Congressional Hearings on UAPs

A few weeks after arriving home from my trip, I still felt uneasy about what I witnessed in Sedona. Subsequently, I watched the recent November 13, 2024 Congressional Hearing addressing Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAPs­–formerly called UFOs), chaired by South Carolina Representative Nancy Mace. This was a follow up to a July 2023 Congressional hearing where former intelligence officer and whistleblower David Grusch testified that the U.S. has a “broad-crash retrieval program” and they have obtained “non-human, exotic origin vehicles that have either landed or crashed,” as well as “non-human biologics.” He was joined by U.S. Navy Commander David Fravor, as well as former Navy pilot Ryan Graves, both of whom described encounters with UAPs.

The November 13 hearing was meant to “pull back the curtain” on UAPs (UFOs) as witnesses described covert government communications with non-human intelligence, as well as their own personal experiences with UAPs. All expressed the need for transparency and accountability, while advocating for the protection of whistleblowers.

Whistleblowers Say UAPs (UFOs) are Real

Retired Rear Admiral of the U.S. Navy Dr. Tim Gallaudet testified that UAPs were real and suggested the formation of a UAP review board and better disclosure laws. Gallaudet recently published a paper titled Beneath the Surface: We May Learn More about UAP by Looking in the Ocean, where he explained that unidentified submersible objects, termed USOs, pose a grave threat to US maritime security. The 19-page document, containing 111 footnotes and an extensive bibliography, highlights encounters with USOs and makes the case that gaps in understanding this phenomenon could lead to detrimental consequences.

Former Department of Defense official Luis Elizondo testified about his role in a Pentagon UAP program. Many times, he declined to elaborate on details, citing non-disclosure agreements. He lamented, “excessive secrecy has led to grave misdeeds against loyal civil servants, military personnel, and the public–all to hide the fact that we are not alone in the cosmos.”

Investigative journalist Michael Shellenberger provided the hearing panel with a copy of an 11-page alleged whistleblower report that describes UAP evidence which he says has been “illegally withheld” from Congress. He described the existence of an unacknowledged special access program titled “Immaculate Constellation” adding that there are hundreds of high-resolution images and videos of UAPs in a secret database.

Former NASA administrator Michael Gold suggested that the US government enlist the help of NASA, which could share its databases of UAP data. Furthermore, it could create a streamlined, efficient system for reporting UAP sightings, where pilots and civilians would not be stigmatized.

UFO Enthusiasts Demand More Disclosure

After the congressional hearing, a UAP/UFO Disclosure Rally was held by MUFON (Mutual UFO Network) and the New Paradigm Institute. One of the points made was that pressure must be put on President-elect Donald Trump to “release whistleblowers from their UFO-related NDA’s (non-disclosure agreements)” so more are able to speak frankly with Congress. Speakers noted that UAPs are a bipartisan issue that must be addressed.

New Paradigm Institute founder and civil rights attorney Danny Sheehan, believes the world must be prepared to accept a “second world paradigm” which includes the existence of extraterrestrials. In a recent interview, he suggested that Jesus is a “mutation” related to the evolution of the human family, adding that the “adepts” from other religions were also able to do miraculous things such as healing the sick. He surmises that “aliens” and religion go hand in hand.

On October 20, 2024 Sheehan’s nonprofit hosted a “first-of-its-kind” event known as Global Disclosure Day. Speakers from around the world included U.S. lawmakers, aerospace and defense executives, investigative journalists, historians and UAP (UFO) activists. The goal of this gathering was to bring awareness to “humanity’s cosmic moment,” as the hidden nature of UAPs and “extraterrestrials” is being revealed to the world.

New Agers are Trying to Contact “Aliens”

Birdie Jaworski, of ABQ (Albuquerque) UFOs, was one of many speakers at the global disclosure event, but her website reveals the deceptive nature of “extraterrestrial disclosure.” A quick look at the events section shows her organization hosts monthly Global Meditation Events, where “meditation, consciousness and thought” are used to “make peaceful contact with our cosmic family.” The website also features articles and classes on remote viewing. Known as psychic spying or ESP, this practice, rooted in Hinduism, Buddhism and Taoism, gives human beings to ability to “perceive information and imagery of remote geographical targets.”

During my trip to Sedona, I saw many advertisements and brochures about remote viewing and other psychic phenomenon. A conference at the Global Center for Christ Consciousness in October 2024 featured mediums who claimed to have the ability to contact extraterrestrials and spirits. For example, ET contactee, “Cosmic Mentor,” and New Age author Lily Nova boasted that she can help people make contact with their Star Families and spiritual guides by providing special protocols and ascension guidelines. She claims, “Your Star family and guides may have been trying to reach you for a very long time. Discover your unique cosmic soul connections and learn how to connect with your cosmic family.” Other courses she offers include Deep Chakra Healing with Inner Earth Beings and Third Eye Activation where you can receive “upgrades.”

Lily Nova is just one of many mediums who offer their guidance in contacting ETs and spirits. A common theme amongst New Age enthusiasts is their assertion that humans were descended from a race of extraterrestrial beings. Moreover, there’s a belief that these beings will make themselves known to the world at some point. Many are excited about the prospect of disclosure because they believe all the ills of humanity and the planet will be healed by the arrival of these other-worldly saviors.

We Must Pray About UAP/UFO Disclosure

As Christians and intercessors, we should be in prayer about the New Age movement and its alignment with UAP disclosure. There’s a portion of society who already believes “extraterrestrials” are going to usher in a new age of peace and harmony. Many are actively seeking these spirits and partnering with demonic forces whether knowingly or unknowingly.

There are lots of opinions and ideas as to whether there has been contact with non-human intelligence. Additionally, there is debate within the biblical community about the nature of what “non-human intelligence” is. Whatever your belief, the main point is that we must pray for discernment from God. The New Age community attests to the existence of “extraterrestrials” and UAPs, but their knowledge and practices are rooted in the occult. Thus, the likelihood of deception is off the charts.

It’s probable that more congressional hearings will take place in the future. Additionally, as the New Age movement and interest in the occult grows, there will be more confusion and deception about what’s really going on. A common thread among New Agers is that humans will destroy the planet unless all governments and religions unite together as one cosmic family. This includes forming a “one world” planetary system of governance, headed by an “extraterrestrial” messiah who will usher in world peace.

Christians should be in prayer about how to respond to this fringe, but important issue. For myself, when I was surrounded by all the New Age deception in Sedona, I felt the strong urgency to pray for lost souls. Everywhere I went, I prayed for Jesus to reveal himself to those who were seeking sprits and ETs. I prayed for them to have an encounter with the Holy Spirit, which is the spirit of truth.

How Do We Pray about UAP/UFO Disclosure?

1. Pray that all deception rooted in New Age/occult beliefs would be revealed and rejected.
2. Pray that pastors, intercessors and the church community would be ready to respond biblically to any claims or revelations about non-human intelligence.
3. Many pilots, military/government personnel and civilians have seen things in the sky or in the ocean they cannot explain. Others have had experiences they do not fully understand. Pray to God for clarity in these matters. Is there a demonic element working? Are there actually secret government programs involving UAPs that are being hidden from Congress and the public? Pray for God to disclose the truth.
4. Pray for protection over any truthful whistleblowers who are trying to share their stories.
5. Pray for salvation for those involved in the New Age movement. Pray they would have encounters with Jesus instead of seeking spirits, and “aliens” (demonic entities) who will deceive them.

It’s important to test every spirit. 1 John 4:1 warns,

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.

Satan is the master of deception, but Jesus is the king of disclosure. Lord Jesus, bring clarity and understanding to what’s really going on with UAPs and bring salvation to those who are relying on ETs to bring world peace.
