After the Election: Eyes on Jesus
It’s official. The 47th President of the United States is Donald Trump. Against all odds, he was re-elected. Despite the outcome of the 2024 elections, emotions and tensions are likely to remain high. Those who voted for President Trump are celebrating and thanking God. For those who voted for Vice President Harris, there is anger, fear, and frustration. So where must we fix our eyes, post election cycle? The answer is Jesus Christ—the victorious King of Kings and Lord of Lords. We must continually look to Him.

Therefore, since we have such a great cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also get rid of every weight and entangling sin. Let us run with endurance the race set before us, focusing on Yeshua, the initiator and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before Him, He endured the cross, disregarding its shame; and He has taken His seat at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you may not grow weary in your souls and lose heart (Hebrews 12:1-3 TLV).
Paul reminds the church that we are running a race. He encourages them to get rid of the weight, whatever holds them back or down, and to eliminate the sin that has trapped and entangled them. He reminds them to focus on Jesus while running this race. In this same verse of the Amplified Version, it says. “Looking away from all that will distract us and focusing our eyes on Jesus.”
When I read this, I see it as a blueprint for running the race successfully: Examine yourself and make it right before God. Run the race, not looking to the right or to the left, where there will be distractions to keep your eyes from the finish line. Instead, keep your eyes on Jesus. Consider (think on Him) who endured the cross, the shame, and hostility so “we may not grow weary in our souls and lose heart.” Fixing our eyes and minds on Christ keeps us from quitting the race prematurely.
Set your mind and keep focused habitually on the things above [the heavenly things], not on things that are on the earth [which have only temporal value] (Colossians 3:2 AMP).
Don’t Look to the Left or Right
If there is protesting or violence on either end, left or right, look to Jesus and keep your mind set on Him. Continue to run the race. 2 Timothy 2:23 NIV says, “Don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels.” We will have a President, but Jesus is King. He is the hope of all nations (see Matthew 12:21). He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Let’s keep that as our central focus.
My daily bible reading has me going through the Book of Daniel. We are probably familiar with the story of the three Hebrew boys being tossed into a fiery furnace. An ego-driven King misinterprets a dream and takes the interpretation to mean he is to create an idol of himself to be worshipped by all. You can read about that in Daniel 2.
We also know that Shadrach, Meshech, and Abednego refused to worship this golden idol, which sent King Nebuchadnezzar into a rage, but he gave them one more chance to comply. He threatened them with certain death and challenged their God. Their faith always astounds me. These three captive boys, possibly teenagers or young adults, exhibit great faith in God. They defy the king’s order.
Then Nebuchadnezzar flew into a rage and ordered that Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego be brought before him. When they were brought in, Nebuchadnezzar said to them, “Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, that you refuse to serve my gods or to worship the gold statue I have set up? I will give you one more chance to bow down and worship the statue I have made when you hear the sound of the musical instruments. But if you refuse, you will be thrown immediately into the blazing furnace. And then what god will be able to rescue you from my power? Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, Your Majesty” (Daniel 3:13-17 NLT).
They let the King know that God can rescue them. They believed the God of their ancestors who delivered His people with signs, wonders, and miracles wass more than able. However, there’s a but…
But even if he doesn’t, we want to make it clear to you, Your Majesty, that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up (Daniel 3:18 NLT).
Those five words powerfully display what true faith looks like, “But even if He doesn’t.” How many of us can say that? Even if He doesn’t heal me, He’s still the Healer. Even if he doesn’t answer my prayer, He’s still praiseworthy. Even if it doesn’t look how I want it to, He’s still God. Even if my choice is not in the White House, He is still God. He is still on the throne. He is in control. Fear says “what if,” but faith says “even if.”
With President Trump winning, tensions will most likely rise. Things could get chaotic, but God is still on the throne and Sovereign. The God who we serve is able to save and rescue.
Like Shadrach, Meshech, and Abednego, we can stand firm, refusing to bow to any idols erected in our nation, whether literal or cultural. We can stand firm in the face of any fiery trial because of the fourth man in the fire, Jesus. Despite the outcome, He can be trusted.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, or through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, nor will the flame burn you (Isaiah 43:2 TLV).
As believers, Let’s keep our eyes fixed on the author and perfecter of our faith. As the body of Christ, let’s not forsake meeting together but encourage one another as the day of His return draws near (see Hebrews 10:25). As intercessors, let’s continue to pray for our nation and leaders. There will never be a shortage of things to pray for; whatever the outcome, we will have a lot of work cut out for us.
Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus (1 Thessalonians 5:17-18 NLT).
Now, Jesus was telling the disciples a parable to make the point that at all times, they ought to pray and not give up and lose heart (Luke 18:1 AMP).
Be persistent and devoted to prayer, being alert and focused in your prayer life with an attitude of thanksgiving (Colossians 4:2 AMP).
If you are apprehensive about the election’s aftermath, let’s pray.
Father,
We come before you on behalf of our nation. We thank You for the outcome of the elections. Your Word tells us that promotion doesn’t come from the east or west, but from You. You bring down and exalt others. Because You are Sovereign, we believe President Trump is your choice to lead our nation at this time.
People are fearful on both sides of the fence. It is an emotional time for many. We come before you and ask for Your will to be done in our nation. We don’t ask selfishly for ourselves, but we ask for the sake of the younger generations. More importantly, we ask because of Your great mercy. We ask that Your name be glorified and lifted high in this nation. Keep us from distractions and help us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus at all times. We know that no matter who the president is, Jesus is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. He is worthy of all honor, glory, and praise. He is with us and can be trusted. We love you, Lord. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Time to come home America:

(ASV) But we all, with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord the Spirit.
(CJB) So all of us, with faces unveiled, see as in a mirror the glory of the Lord; and we are being changed into his very image, from one degree of glory to the next, by Adonai the Spirit.
Oh, yes, Gloria. Our focus, or what we behold steadfastly, is literally what we become. It holds the power to transform us. There was a fourth Man in that fire – and I believe those three young men saw Him, as did the king. If we “see” Him in our daily walk, if we “practice His presence” consistently – then when we face a “fiery furnace” we will see Him in the fire with us burning away our fetters!
Spoken by The Father:
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go….Do not be afraid of them, for I have delivered them into your hand….” Joshua 1:9, 10:8
You shall not fear, because I am with you, and you shall not be terrified, because I AM your God. I have strengthened you, I have also helped you, I have also supported you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10
Spoken by The Son:
‘Sh’ma Yisra’el, Adonai Eloheinu, Adonai echad [Hear, O Isra’el, the Lord our God, the Lord is One] and you are to love Adonai your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your understanding and with all your STRENGTH. Mark 12:29-30,
I have glorified You on earth by accomplishing the work You gave Me to do. John 17:4
Prayed in The Spirit: Gloria, beloved of the Lord:
“You bring down and exalt others. Because You are Sovereign…….Jesus is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. He is worthy of all honor, glory, and praise. He is with us and can be trusted.”
Dear Lord, You are God Almighty. According to Your perfect plan You bring down and exalt and throughout Your Word, You command strength, courage, and fearlessness. You are with us always. It was Your Plan to make Your Son the Lamb of God, to take away the sin of the world. He demonstrated strength beyond comprehension and then bowed His head and proclaimed, IT IS FINISHED! I pray we keep our eyes upon You and do so in strength and fearlessness, KNOWING You are with us. I pray we demonstrate the work of God every day of our lives. Jesus says this work is to believe in the One You sent…and I do…we do! We love you Lord and pray in Your Name, we trust in You alone. Amen
Great article, thank you!
Lord, keep our nation in your Peace that passes all understanding. Pour out your mercy and grace on all those who do not know You, and release Your Spirit Fire on all who love You, so that your people may spread the fragrance of your presence throughout the nation.
We bind any demonic interference by your blood and release peaceful transitioning, hope and courage for all. Give wisdom for the planning of a new administration. Amen
