I Prayed have prayed
God, help us build an impenetrable wall of your Spirit and your Word around our bodies, and the bodies of all our family members and loved ones.
Reading Time: 5 minutes

With the ding of my phone, I was alerted to yet another person who was facing physical attacks on their body. I have received email after email of people who are battling sickness or disease right now. Physical attacks seemed to be a widespread and vicious assault on the Body of Christ.

I leaned back in my chair and asked God, “What is happening? Why so many physical attacks? They are everywhere?” He quietly reminded me of a previous lesson while speaking to my heart, “Build a wall! A stone wall.”

This reminder is from one of my favorite movies where I first heard these instructions. The movie is called Facing the Giants. It’s about a football team and their coach. This team was known for losing – the coach hoped to change that, but challenge after challenge stood before him. One day, he taught his players about Nehemiah in the Old Testament. Here is the story he shared.

In the Old Testament Nehemiah had the task of building a stone wall around his city for protection. He didn’t have enough people, resources, or time but because each person worked on the stone wall that was in front of their house, they got it done in record time. That’s what we must do. (Facing the Giants, Sherwood Pictures, Alex Kendrick)

Moving forward, when this team faced their most formidable competitor, they realized this was the strategy they needed as the quarterback began to yell, “STONE WALL! STONE WALL!” This instruction came at the last seconds of the game. The team was exhausted and weary of the battle, but they knew what they had to do. They dug their feet into the ground, stood firm, and held their position with all their might. Not one opponent could get past them.

I don’t know why there is an onslaught on the bodies of God’s people – but this I do know – these attacks are no opponent for the Word of God or the name of Jesus.

In Nehemiah’s day, the people were protected and safe once the wall was completed. We can do the same concerning healing. It’s entirely up to us to build a wall around our bodies and the health of our loved ones. We have been given the authority to do so through the finished work of the cross. You can and must build a wall around them. How do we do that?

For a period of ten years, I was never sick, not even with a cold. What did I do that was different? I spoke the Word of God for healing over my body every single day, every morning; it was how I began my day. It was only years later that I realized that I remained healthy for many years as I continued that habit. The power of the Word of God is truly impenetrable. Sadly, I began to get busy and let that slip. There was no longer a wall of the Word of God around me concerning healing.

With the Word and the Spirit of God, we must resolve that nothing gets past us as individuals, our families, or our loved ones. We must build a stone wall concerning health and wholeness.

It seems that in 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, many continued to suffer from the effects of symptoms created by that virus. Additionally, because of the pandemic, many became stressed, anxious, and even fearful. All these are things we continue to deal with today as well as the physical problems that accompany them.

I know many of you are already praying and standing in faith daily for yourself and your family – but it’s time we ramp it up and build a stone wall so strong that nothing from the enemy gets through it. Dig through your Bible, find scriptures that cover healing, wholeness, long life, peace of mind, and anything else you can think of, and begin to build a wall by declaring God’s Word over yourself and your family. Declare, “Not one weapon formed against my family will prosper in Jesus’ name. Satan, desist in your maneuvers against my family and me now, in the authority and power of the name of Jesus.” Drive back the enemy with the Word of the Living God!

Many are tired; for some, it has been a long battle. Building a wall is easy when we are full of energy and passion. It’s not so easy when one is battle-weary. However, right now is when it matters the most! If we are to walk in the completed work of the cross – now is the time to press in. We must dig our heels in and refuse to give up our health or the well-being of our loved ones. God has promised us victory; it’s time to take it by force.

And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force (Matt. 11:12, NKJV.)

It’s time to take back what is already ours, our health, wholeness, and peace of mind, by force.

Let’s pray!

God, we thank You For sending Your Word, Jesus in the flesh, and healing us and making us completely whole. Teach us how to build a wall with Your Word that cannot be penetrated. Teach us to stand firm on Your promises concerning our health and wholeness – for us and our family members. Jesus purchased our healing and wholeness at the cross – we will not allow that gift to fall to the ground – we take our healing and wholeness now in Jesus’ name. Show us, God, any areas where we have allowed entrance to the enemy. We close every door to the enemy, and we say, “Desist in your maneuvers against our body and the bodies of our family, now in Jesus’ name.” We take by force our healing, wholeness, peace, and soundness of mind purchased in full at the cross. We refuse to settle for anything less. In the name of Jesus! Amen.

Scriptures to stand on for healing: Jeremiah 17:14, 1 Peter 2:24, Isaiah 53:5, Jeremiah 33:6, Psalm 41:3, Psalm 103:2-4, James 5:15, 3 John 1:2, Jeremiah 30:17, James 5:14-15, Psalm 107:20, Psalm 30:2, Dt. 7:15, Luke 10:9, Exodus 23:25, John 14:27, Phil 4:6-7. Mark 5:34.

thank you for this article – it is a needed reminder of what we can do – build the wall with God’s living Word. I, too, love the movie “Facing the Giants” and we certainly are facing many giants today, individually and as a nation. Well, they are giants to us but not to our God. We can take heart because He told us “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” In the meantime, we build our assigned section of the wall with His Word while also keeping the sword of the Spirit, His Word, as our defense and offense. With His Word, we demolish strongholds. Thank You, Lord, for the gift of Your Word, Living and Eternal. http://www.mtothe5th.wordpress.com

Agreeing with both your experience – an overwhelming number of believers in health crises – and that the Nehemiah paradigm is our strategy now – in many areas. Build with one hand, sword in the other, and go where the attack comes when the shofar sounds! And KNOW THE WORD. My heart is saddened by the widespread unbelief. Fear and anxiety open the doors to much illness as does u forgiveness and bitterness. Father, forgive us for we know not what we do! Cleanse and heal us! Restore a hunger for Your word.

Yes, Kim! I, too, have wondered about the uptick in what appears to be physical and emotional and mental attacks against the body of Christ. I agree that health and wholeness in body, soul, and spirit is part of our “salvation to the uttermost”. My spirit resounds in agreement with building that stone wall of faith!

But I was also encouraged to see in Your prayer above an important “key” to healing that is often overlooked, “Show us, God, any areas where we have allowed entrance to the enemy.” If there are cracks in our armor, we can be assured the enemy will take advantage of them. We tend to either blame satan negating any possible contribution we might be making to our situation, or totally ignore the enemy’s possible involvement and succumb to lack of faith, or actually blame God. We should never assume we know the root or source of ours or other’s difficulties, but seek God’s wisdom and discernment. Job’s “comforters” made assumptions, but were proven wrong and reproved by YHVH. What God allows He will help us walk through in faith. What we allow through unwise and disobedient choices in lifestyle must be dealt with by repentance and change in behavior. No amount of rebuking the enemy, declaring and decreeing will accomplish anything if that is not done.

Lord, give us wisdom and discernment that we might win this battle for the health and wholeness of ourselves, our families, and the body of Christ. In You we trust!

Encouraging to read others are experiencing attacks on their health and bodies. My prayer group has wondered about this. Indeed Daniel 7:25 tactic to wear out the saints is happening. Regardless, we perservere.

Fantastic article…. Do you have a specific confession of faith to speak over the health of yourself and family daily? If so would you consider sharing?
