Hurricane Helene has caused devastation throughout the South and particularly in Western North Carolina. Many have raised questions about the relief efforts.
But before our coverage, we begin with a beautiful story to remind us that the Lord is present amid the disaster.
NEW: Fox weather anchor starts crying on live air as a mother describes the final moments of her son’s life before he was swept away by flooding from hurricane Helene.
The mother said her son’s last words on Earth were him crying out for Jesus.

Many sources have reached out to IFA with questions about the relief efforts related to Hurricane Helene. We need to be interceding and praying about these important questions.
Will $750 Cut It?
VP Harris announced on Wednesday that the government will provide $750 payments to victims. Shore News Network quoted a local official who said, “People have lost everything, and $750 is not enough to get by in this economy.”
Please pray for provision for the victims. IFA has heard many reports of churches, Christians, and parachurch organizations doing incredible work. In fact, IFA’s October First Friday guests tearfully described the beauty of seeing the hands and feet of Christ at work. Scroll down to watch and pray.
DHS Is Out of Money?!
FEMA operates under the Department of Homeland Security. On Wednesday, DHS Sec. Mayorkas said, “We are meeting the immediate needs with the money that we have. We are expecting another hurricane hitting. We do not have the funds.” He then repeated himself, saying “FEMA does not have the funds to make it through the season and what is imminent.”
In FY2024, FEMA allocated $640.9 million to migrant “relief.” Some reports indicate up to $1 billion has been spent by DHS on illegal migrants. But Mayorkas says these funds cannot be spent on hurricane relief since they were allocated to state and local governments with an influx of illegal migrants.
State officials were quick to respond:
Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody was outraged by Mayorkas’ comments: “So you heard they have taken the FEMA emergency food and shelter program and over time siphoned off hundreds of millions of dollars into basically making it an illegal immigrant resettlement program. And so when you see these states and cities around the nation declaring emergencies, even blue states, because of what this administration has done, encouraging more and more and more, developing programs to encourage more and more and more people to come here. The government, Biden and Harris, are having to fund that on the backs of the American people. And right now in Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, all of these states are hurting because of this truly natural disaster, not a Biden-Harris-made disaster. . . .”
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R): “This is easy. Mayorkas and FEMA — immediately stop spending money on illegal immigration resettlement and redirect those funds to areas hit by the hurricane. Put Americans first.”
Pray that our federal government would stop aiding and funding illegal immigration and instead help people in the devastated areas recover.
FEMA Planned to Fail
A popular slogan is that a failure to plan is a plan to fail. It seems that FEMA’s strategic goals set them up for failure.
Like many organizations, FEMA has strategic goals that might surprise the average American. After all, FEMA stands for the Federal Emergency Management Administration. What are their three goals?
- “Instill equity as a foundation of emergency management.”
- “Lead whole community in climate resilience.”
- “Promote and sustain a ready FEMA and prepared nation.”
Reading these goals with wisdom makes it plain why FEMA is unprepared and unable to manage this catastrophe. IFA has long warned intercessors of the perils of DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion). Focusing on DEI goals inevitably distracts from the central mission of an organization, corporation, or federal agency. The situation with Hurricane Helene highlights how distracting and disastrous this is.
Their second goal of “climate resilience” is also problematic. Climate policy often seems politicized. One of the favorites for people on the left is incentives for electric vehicles. Batteries in these vehicles can ignite and cause fires when submerged. Floodwaters from Hurricane Helene have caused 16 electric vehicles to ignite in a process called “thermal runway,” with six homes catching fire as a result.
Pray that these wrongheaded strategic goals would be recognized as foolish.

Well for starters Mayjerkus is one more of this biden/harris boneheaded administration that is guilty of treason and because of their corrupt handling of this country over the past 4 years I will not be donating to anything as i don’t trust a single one of them to do what is right by the citizens of this country. First they will have to pay me what they have taken from me as i am a senior citiaen who served in our military for 10 years during Desert Storm but had to leave before I got my retirement because i went out on a medical and because I was Air National Guard they said my medical wasn;t service related. Joe douche and cumallah have c0st me 40+ thousand dollars and caused more health issues of thrie DEI [olicies and now wiht having let all the gangs and brutal terrorists into my country , So tell Joe he needs to send me a check of at least 75,000. That may cover some of my physical therapy so I can get back on my feet and become productive again…you need to under stand I was doing my PT at the YMCA pool here in creece ny, but transsexual men get first prioriti to use the womans facilities. I left about a year ago. Esporta Im hearing is doing the same thing and after they reduced their fees we got the lowlifes coming out to the burbs and bringing thei lowlife violent ways with them, I’m 71 yo and have been athletic all my life but im getting ready to take back what is mine as my health insurance is paying the bill.

What an opportunity for the church to shine! Government is NOT the solution; it’s the obstacle interfering with God’s people rising up together to care for their communities. Some can go; some can send money; all can pray. Government doesn’t do that.
Lord raise up an army of Jesus followers to help those hurt by this storm. Loosen the pocket books of those with resources; call those with time and abilities to go, and hear our prayers that you may be glorified even in this tragedy.

It is time to look behind the labels of the programs, to see if the contents are in accord with the claim. Has the govern become a “ment” and not a “be or is” of value promised. Let us see if each and every program and policy is returning full value for its cost or just inflated fancy words on empty packages. I just read this incredible article on the devastation caused by hurricane Helene. Those brave survivors absolutely deserve to have their voices and votes counted! We must deliver the mail-in ballots to them and go pick them up if usps cannot! The evil side wants desperately for us to think we can’t but they went to nursing homes and did this in the last election and in many cases cheated terribly, we must hold up the shield of faith and fight for every vote!! They are also sending billions to Ukraine and very little to these desperate Americans! Praying for many brave souls to gather the mail-in ballots for the Truth in this election. In Jesus name, Amen
Don’t count on the government. FEMA is a bad joke. Not enough money is available to give people what they truly need financially from this storm and its widespread damage. Guess who won’t be voting for Kamala Harris! This is terrible, when we send billions of aid to foreign nations, give liberally to illegal aliens, but cannot provide for proper disaster relief to innocent victims. If I was a victim of this storm damage, I would view the $750 that each household is supposed to get as a slap in the face. Lord Jesus, I thank You that You will use this whole fiasco for good in our nation. Thank you, Lord Jesus. With You, ALL things are possible!

I pray this travesty of our country s lack of response via our government agencies such as FEMA will wake up our citizens and have an effect on how they vote. Praying that private citizens will be allowed to reach these hard to get to places with food, clean water, medicine and the gospel of Jesus.

I’ve been through many Florida hurricanes, and this is way different because of mountains,tight valleys,and a lot of water rushing to spots of least resistance

Make a way for YOUR recovery teams to be Your arms, feet, heart, wisdom and strength.
Remove the ungodly and their evil plots and plans from this nation – once and for all, Way Maker.
Reestablish Your tenents, precepts and principles to Your Nation, our home. Re-cover us with Your protective hand and hedge on the North, South, East, West borders. As this Nation rebuilds, solidify our foundation on the Cornerstone of our faith, Jesus Christ.

When disaster strikes we have two options – to trust You or to become bitter and angry. The first places us in the hollow of Your hand, a very safe place to be. The other places us in jeopardy, because we resist the Only One who can really help. I pray that those who have experienced the horror of this disaster, or are still in harm’s way would respond in trust and cry out to You just like that precious little boy in the video and his mother. May what the enemy has meant for evil – to kill, steal, and destroy – be turned by Your mighty hand and be used for good. Show Yourself strong on behalf of those who are trusting You wholeheartedly!

If you have Facebook, the nearby to me town of Hurricane, WV has been doing an amazing job of collecting and distributing supplies to NC, with a local man delivering via helicopter, and working directly with people in the areas. The fire dept. has been taking donations, they have an Amazon needs list from people in the affected areas, and they are sending supply loads to the areas. Father God, have mercy on this nation. We have strayed from Your righteous ways, rebelled against YOU, and disobeyed Your commands. We have a wicked, evil country. We deserve Your wrath.
