After tearing down a satanic statue set up in his state’s Capitol, Michael Cassidy has been charged with a hate crime. Is this right?

From The Daily Wire. Michael Cassidy, a 35-year-old Navy veteran, was charged with a hate crime on Tuesday after he admitted to beheading a Satanic statue that was on display in the Iowa State Capitol. …

Cassidy, a Christian who lives in Mississippi and previously ran for a congressional seat, was arrested and charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief after beheading the statue. Court documents now say that the damage done to the statue will cost between $750 and $1,500 to repair, and prosecutors allege that Cassidy acted “in violation of individual rights” under Iowa’s hate crime statute, KCCI reported. The documents also note that in light of new evidence, his charge has been upped to third-degree criminal mischief, a class D felony.

“Evidence shows the defendant made statements to law enforcement and the public indicating he destroyed the property because of the victim’s religion,” said Lynn Hicks, a spokesman for the Polk County Attorney’s Office. …

Shortly after the incident, Cassidy explained to The Republic Sentinel why he decided to destroy the Satanic display.

“I saw this blasphemous statue and was outraged,” Cassidy told the outlet in December. “My conscience is held captive to the word of God, not to bureaucratic decree. And so I acted.” …

He should be given a medal for bravery and honor! What about all of the mobs who destroyed military statues after BLM? They need to be prosecuted! A two-tier system of law and justice needs to be obliterated! Pray to Jehovah to “stomp the head of the serpent.”

Father, We are presenting this man’s case before the high court of heaven. Praying and believing for a ruling to come down from heaven to completely remove this satanic display from the state Capitol of Mississippi as it does not belong there or at any state Capitol in our Nation. Praying for the mighty warring angels of heaven to push back the forces of darkness involved in this demonic display. I am declaring that the Mississippi state Capitol will be a place to worship the Lord God Almighty. Open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of satan to God, that they may receive forgivenss of sins; and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in You (Acts 26:18).
I pray that the judge will go easy on this man who thought he was doing the right thing.

”For in the eighth year of his reign, when he was still young, he began seeking after the God of David his father; and in the twelfth year, he began cleansing Y’hudah and Yerushalayim from the high places, the sacred poles, and the carved and cast metal images. In his presence they broke down the altars of the ba‘alim, and he chopped down the pillars for sun-worship mounted above them. He smashed the sacred poles and the carved and cast metal images, grinding them to dust, which he threw on the graves of those who had sacrificed to them. He burned the bones of the priests on their altars, thus cleansing Y’hudah and Yerushalayim. He did likewise in the cities of M’nasheh, Efrayim, Shim‘on and even as far as Naftali, in their surrounding ruins. He broke down the altars, beat the sacred poles and carved images to powder and chopped down the pillars for sun-worship throughout all the land of Isra’el. Then he returned to Yerushalayim.“

God tells us in His Word to seperate yourself from the things of this world (2 Corinthians 6-17-18)(Revelation 3-15-17) says you are lukewarm neither hot nor cold -I am about to spit you out of my mouth .This is the church today it has been silent too long that’s why you have that kind of statue in places.. It’s disheartening to see what our judicial has become when it allows stuff like this to even happen and to charge someone with something like this. This is not hate it’s the power of darkness at work childern of God you better wake up and be like Jesus (John 2:14-16) when Jesus drove the evil out of the temple. Looks like this needed Cleaning out. Jesus has given us authority to defeat the power of darkness (Luke:10-19) use the authority that He has given us.In our prayer life and our action.God did not tell us to be weak and silent we all have work to do.

I wonder how many people who committed atrocities during the “summer of love” and those who tore down and destroyed historical statues have been charged with hate crimes. It’s obvious he was over taken by Righteous anger regarding something that was a representation of the evil that has become so prevalent in our society…however, it is so obvious that the charge doesn’t fit the crime and is overwhelmingly over the top…sadly because he is a Believer. even sadder that our Great nation has gone so far from it’s original foundation. PRAYING for a SPIRITUAL AWAKENING of our nation.

Destroying property is always wrong. This is unfortunately a hate crime according to legislation protecting attacks against religious people groups and the Temple of Saten is a recognized religion in America. Bashing a statue is adolescent behavior and clearly not the Christian approach to dealing with evil. Sorry he let himself get out of control. I pray He learns intercession and takes it out on the devil in prevailing prayer!

May Mr. Cassidy get off lightly re the charges against him. Many of us feel the same way. But because of all the woke laws, people can’t express their opinions. Sorry, but there is no room in my book for a satanic temple!

May Mr. Cassidy not be charged. He is a true Christian and he felt violated by the satanic object, as many of us would have felt. I pray leniency for him. We should not tolerate Satan in any way. May he always be under our feet.

Flaring emotions in this case are understandable. However, Jesus has said that human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. Possess your souls in patience, as Jesus advised. Think about it overnight, praying God for advice. then sit quietly and listen. I am not saying this action was necessarily wrong, but I am saying that throughout the Bible, on those occasions when people acted before praying about the issue and waiting for God’s answer, the outcome was unsuccessful or in some way not 100% a slam dunk.
When king David took matters into his own hands regarding Bathsheba, God admonished him later, saying “you had only to ask”. And God would have provided a solution. (I know, it’s not a direct relationship except in the matter of not asking).

I plead the power of Jesus and his Cross over each and every one of us praying on this matter, that God’s will be done.

Is it a worthy action to pray for? Yes!
Jesus was manifested to destroy all the works of the devil. Let’s pray that this work of the devil and any negative fallout be destroyed in the Name of Jesus!
Jesus overturned tables in the Temple. Let’s pray for that! Lord, we pray in the Name of Jesus all tables in this matter be overturned, and the devil defeated in every way here.
Resist the devil and he will flee. Let’s pray for that!

Appears Satan can’t defend himself against God. Reminds me of Dagon. and all the Egyptian gods. Thank you, God, that you show us who is the stronger one.

In the words of Paul, God has given Messiah Jesus authority over everything in heaven and earth – things we can see and things we can’t see – for the benefit of the Church. God will destroy anything that comes against the Church.

Jesus said I give you authority over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means harm you. Lord, cry out to rescue us from every trap (Psalm 91) of temptation the devil put before us, to trip us up.

Jesus said I have delivered you from the authority of darkness.
Jesus said I will deliver you from every evil work.

I would have your lawyers ask how many gory satanic rituals have been performed in our nation – on children and other innocents. Statistics on this from national law enforcement agencies would be useful for lawyers to bring to the court – including images. That will be very persuasive as to why such a strong response was taken on this little statue thing.

I would also have your lawyers ask how many gory satanic rituals are being performed on children up from Panama being trafficked into this country by crossing our border – data and images. This would indicate to the court how big a problem this is in our nation. One that that press does not usually report on, but which law enforcement officials are well aware of.

I would ask the Church to speak to their congregations and their seminaries aout how many people have been going to hell out of ignorance by not confronting the satanic cults from the pulpit and in corporate prayer.

Beheading a mere statue, in comparison, seems mighty civil to me.
