After weeks of division and arduous voting, House Republicans have finally installed a new speaker. What do you think of Rep. Johnson?
From The Daily Signal. The United States House of Representatives has voted in Congressman Mike Johnson of Louisiana as speaker.
Pray for your fellow intercessor.
“It is the honor of a lifetime to have been elected the 56th Speaker of the House,” Johnson said Wednesday. “Thank you to my colleagues, friends, staff, and family for the unmatched support throughout this process.”
“It has been an arduous few weeks, and a reminder that the House is as complicated and diverse as the people we represent,” he added. “The urgency of this moment demands bold, decisive action to restore trust, advance our legislative priorities, and demonstrate good governance. Our House Republican Conference is united, and eager to work.”
Johnson promised to ensure that the House “delivers results and inspires change for the American people.”
“As Speaker, I will ensure the House delivers results and inspires change for the American people,” he said. “We will restore trust in this body. We will advance a comprehensive conservative policy agenda, combat the harmful policies of the Biden administration, and support our allies abroad. And we will restore sanity to a government desperately in need of it. Let’s get back to work.”
Johnson, a Republican, was chosen during a closed-door meeting of Republicans on Tuesday evening, and the House voted on his speakership Wednesday afternoon.
Republicans unanimously voted for Johnson in a strong show of support after weeks of voting. Johnson won 220 votes, while House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries earned 209 votes from Democrats.
News of his speakership was widely praised by his Republican colleagues, such as Lauren Boebert of Colorado.
“I can tell you, this nation is going to absolutely love Mike Johnson,” she said on Wednesday. “He is a true American patriot who has united our party and is going to help us Save America!”
“Despite the unhinged reactions from the swamp and their allies in the corporate media, House Republicans have proven once again what leadership looks like,” Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts said following the vote. (The Daily Signal is the news outlet of The Heritage Foundation)
“Congratulations, Mr. Speaker,” he added. “This is a historic win for the conservative movement, and more importantly, a win for the American people. Heritage is ready to fight alongside you.”
Parental rights activist Asra Nomani praised Johnson for his work highlighting the voices of parents fighting for transparency in schools.
“I was a mama bear on Capitol Hill and @RepMikeJohnson had my back — and the backs of parents everywhere who speak of truth to power,” she said. “He yielded his time to me, so I could stop the shaming of parents. Congratulations to you, Rep. Johnson for being a leader for ALL Americans.”
House Majority Whip Tom Emmer of Minnesota had won the Republican speaker nomination Tuesday morning, but around 26 House Republicans voted against him during the closed-door roll call vote, and Emmer dropped out of the speaker’s race on Tuesday after former President Donald Trump warned Republicans not to support him, saying he is “totally out-of-touch with Republican voters.”
Republicans also previously underwent three rounds of voting on Jim Jordan of Ohio for speaker. Jordan lost all three rounds, and on Friday afternoon, House Republicans voted to remove him as the nominee.
Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy had won the speaker position in January after 15 rounds of voting. The House ousted him from his leadership position on Oct. 3.
Majority Leader Steve Scalise had won the Republican conference vote for the speaker nomination over Jordan in early October, but he dropped out after a flurry of Republicans said they would not vote for him.

I think Representative Johnson is anti-climatic! We had a speaker that I thought represented us well and I’m still angry at Matt Gaetz and the 7 other Republicans that voted with the abortion supporting, trans supporting, biden supporting democrats to oust Kevin McCarthy as speaker. FATHER GOD, our government is more divided that I have ever known it to be. Please bring unity in our government members that stand for YOU and Justice! Please bless Kevin McCarthy and his family and Mike Johnson and his family and all of our congress. Please send laborers to our government members for salvation i. JESUS NAME! Amen!
I love that he supports Christian values. And, I am thanking God for all of the good things I have read about him; and that Donald J. Trump endorses him! I admire what he said in his acceptance speech also:

Praying for the Lord to guide and protect him as he carries out his duties as Speaker of the House of Representative with God’s wisdom, honesty and integrity.
I am encouraged by what I hear about our new speaker, Mr. Johnson, and pleased 100% of the Republicans stood with him. Praise the Lord for allowing and probably guiding this to happen
I think he will be great. He represents my values. I’m very pleased that he united my party who voted unanimously for him.
I went to mikejohnson.house.gov and read up on some of his values and the info there. He believes in God because he mentioned him. I know we prayed, so I believe God allowed him in, so now I am responsible to keep praying for the man…to hear God’s voice and obey it and that he is led by Holy Spirit. I pray for protection for him and his family and that he will have the favor of God and man as Jesus did.
Father we life up our new speaker. Let these last few weeks be a wake up call to government leaders. Many heard from their constituents. I pray they understand business as usual is no more. We’re in a new day. A government of the people and by the people. Let sane minds prevail. Let hearts be touched by Jesus. The government is on his shoulders. Remind the representatives who they look to first. With praises for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

After reading very good things about Mike Johnson, I felt we would soon know the search had come to an end. After further reading, I believe he is The Lord’s choice so I pray one again:
May he be the leader EVERY member will back. May he lead to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and DOMESTIC. May Mike Johnson be the one who will demonstrate justice and truth as he faithfully discharges the duties of this office. Help him Lord. I ask this in faith and honor to our Triune God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen
Lord, thank You for the support given to Mike Johnson as he was voted to become the next Speaker of the House. In his congressional bio: “I am a Christian, a husband, a father, a life-long conservative, constitutional law attorney, and a small business owner in that order, and I think that order is important.” It sounds like he will consult You as he leads the House. I pray for Your wisdom to surround him and for the House to return to the work of governing this country and supporting Israel. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
I do not have sufficient knowledge of Mike Johnson. However, his acceptance speech showed his acceptance of Republican and Conservative values. I was pleased with the speech. When looking up his history, it confirmed his conservatice stance on issues I care about. I hope he strongly supports our principles as Speaker of the House. If he does, he’ll make a great speaker. I pray that he follows our constitution, and our vlaues.
Lord, we praise You for providing a new speaker. Let Your Spirit rest on him. Let Your will be done in our government. Let him be a man who can push forth godly legislation. We ask all this in Your holy name, Lord Jesus Christ. 🙏
