I Prayed have prayed
Father God, thank You for the people who sacrifice to keep us safe. Teach us how to pray effectively for them.
Reading Time: < 1 minute

If you have served in the military, IFA wants to hear from you!

We want to pray more effectively for the United States military.

What are the unique challenges service members and their families face? Please let us know specific, effective prayer points. What about spiritual warfare? How does it look for military members?

The impact of woke leadership has been widely reported. How can we pray for enlisted/officers/ROTC/recruiting/etc?

Please leave a comment — we appreciate you very much!

I just want to thank the military and forgot to continue to give them the strings and the peace forgot to protect them and surround them with angels and have leading angels to be with them every time they fight and all the time of their lives made the Lord Jesus Christ richly blessed them. I just want to thank you all for fighting for our country. And for our freedom, stay strong in Jesus Christ, name God bless you all. Who serve for us?
I used to have a son who used to be in the army. I know how parents feel about their own loved ones. Serving the military may the Lord bless. Also the parents and relatives.

Thank you Lord God, for all the men and women who have chosen to sacrifice their lives to join our military! This country desperately needs them. From the many years in the past, they have given us the freedom we have all experienced now. God bless them all and may numbers continue to grow! (I had two cousins who were Marines and the other who was in the Army.) All of the armed forces makes this country strong through the power of Christ Jesus our Savior!

Its been 50 years since I served in the Air Force. I am so thankful to have served my country. But in hindsight I was not walking in the Lord at that time, But I had a wonderful grandmother interceding for me daily as she had with my grandfather when he served in France during the great war, and my father when he served in WW2, and finally for me during Vietnam (when it seemed no one cared about us who were serving). My grandma wrote to each of us daily along with her prayers during our service years. If you dont have a family member in the service, Im sure you know someone that does -pray for them. Their welfare certainly, but for their salvation more so, even if you dont know if they believe as yet, pray that they will. God is listeniing. Thank you

prayers are needed for people serving to keep their daily/hourly communication lines with God open at all times. He can provide instant answers through the Holy Spirit or angels if needed. There are times where protection from friendly predators (homosexuals on the prowl for a weak person) that can cause actual physical and mental harm by rape or physical violence. Other times there are lost people that need a friend to lead astray and get them into trouble too. Keeping our spiritual ears and eyes open with the Holy Spirit’s help can make a big difference. It could keep us from making a stupid mistake that we had no idea was presenting itself from just being friendly.

First, it must be understood that most of the time, when we deploy, it’s to a nation in which it’s government rejects Yahweh as Sovereign, kind of like a Pharaoh thing. So, when we jump on an air or sea transport and cross over to a nation where life has zero meaning except for those who practice capitalism for themselves, we are flying in to the demonic. Evil exists, and the fight waged in the flesh is also waged in the spiritual.
So, let’s pray.
Father in Heaven, You rule the nations. Send Your angels to clear the paths before Your agents of peace. Encamp Your angels around the homes. Set Your guardian angels around the children with their sword drawn. Protect both sides of marriages from agents of destruction and reveal Yourself to those who don’t know You, yet.

Our Father, who takes the fight for us because “the battle is the Lord’s,” we humbly come to you for our military and our service members. When in harm’s way, keep them safe. When tired and alone, display Your presence. Undergird their selfless service, and their passion to serve. Give wisdom to their leadership to enforce and reinforce godly principles and values rather than the cultural perverse and immoral falsities being promoted today. Help us to realize that our “Nation under God” can win no conflicts without You as our guide and the ultimate warrior. Protect our warriors from fear, self-pity, worry, and doubt. Provide them with courage, strength, endurance, and astuteness as they serve You and our great nation. We pray this in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ who will ultimately defeat all of Heaven’s enemies in the “Day of our Lord.” Amen.

Father , we pray for our brothers that fought many wars. And we’re grateful for bringing a Part of ” making America great again” but the glory is yours for giving us freedom. Be with the families of many soldiers who lost their lives to make America great. Thank you for sparing us who made it alive. Please remove evil from our Nations capital and in the White house. Thank you Father for your greatness, faithfulness and love in Jesus name Amen. A disabled Retired Army Veteran. John

My husband is a disabled veteran (Army/SCARNG). He was a Supply SGT. and was called up for Desert Shield/Storm. I was 7 mos. pregnant at the time, and our first child was 6 years old. We were part of an active, vibrant church near an Air Force Base. One would think that would make a difference, but it did not. The arduous months of separation, anxiety from seeing reports on the news (which many turned out to be in error, was very exhausting. Trying to keep the home functioning while expecting was difficult. The sporadic communication which was often only minutes in length did not suffice. Even with a “support group” the loneliness and despair was overwhelming. Often the information given at the support meetings sent the wives home more afraid then when they arrived! And only ONE person in our church came to offer help and advice- out of a church of 250! She was a Vietnam Vet’s wife. My husband shared his emotional battles with me upon his return. He was assailed with all kinds of threats, fears for our relationship, safety, and great loneliness. I won’t ever forget how I would struggle at times to breathe normally- that was way before “panic attacks” were common. Not knowing the next move of a loved one and the harrowing responsibility of being a single mother temporarily or potentially permanently is weighty. The war continued past the birth of our second child. He lost his first 5 months of life with his dad. I am sure he adapted better than my husband did. It still pains him to this day. Separation, misinformation, fear, uncertainty, financial crises, and the lack of true empathy are what the family faces. Prayer is not all that is needed. Consistent emotional, social, spiritual, and even financial support should be provided by the Body of Christ. It would have saved me from month of shortened breath had I received it.

I pray Abba for all the spouses of or service people, and for their children. Father send wise, calm, and experienced people to assist them, and please give them the resources they need to walk through the times of deployment. Please also send similar people to them to encourage them in their faith walk and to strengthen their marriages. Please help the families find people who can be lifters of the children’s heads and hold their hands when needed; giving relief to the parents. Thank you Abba for meeting these needs of support for our military.

Good, Good, Father, our Mighty Warrior Jesus Christ, and our Comforter and Heller Holy Spirit, I thank You for every one in the Military defending our country and even other countries…let Your Freedom ring!! Past, Present and Future we thank You for their sacrifice and service …especially those serving for You, Lord God, first, then for country, freedom and the Constitution. Great is Your Faithfulness Lord!! Thank You God for awaking us on how to pray for our service men & women in ways we would not have known if we had not read these testimonies. Father in the Name and Blood of Jesus Christ the Lord, I pray that every person among them who has witnessed horrible things of war or maybe committed them themselves would come to know by Your Holy Spirits drawing them…all Jesus died to give them…that when they give their lives to Christ… “Therefore there is now no condemnation [no guilty verdict, no punishment] for those who are in Christ Jesus [who believe in Him as personal Lord and Savior]
(‭‭Rom. 8‬:‭1‬ ‭AMP‬‬).” Praise You God for forgiveness…total, complete , forever forgiveness by grace through faith by being washed in the Blood of the Lamb, King Jesus, Who is our King of Glory!! “For it is by grace [God’s remarkable compassion and favor drawing you to Christ] that you have been saved [actually delivered from judgment and given eternal life] through faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [not through your own effort], but it is the [undeserved, gracious] gift of God; not as a result of [your] works [nor your attempts to keep the Law], so that no one will [be able to] boast or take credit in any way [for his salvation]
(‭‭Eph. ‭2‬:‭8‬-‭9‬ ‭AMP‬‬).”
In Jesus’ Name, Blood and Word, Gracious Father God, help each lost soldier be drawn to salvation through Your Gospel Message, by the continuous prayers of Your saints. For You are where our help comes from ( Ps. 121) . Help each and every person that was spoken of here tonight with PTSD, lost and saved alike, receive complete healing …some by salvation first and others by growing their faith they already have…to believe that You can heal them because You are where our Hope comes from Jesus!! And not only these but our son-in-law Jude, as well, who served as a Marine and also suffers from PTSD and is in treatment for it at present. May he receive and may all receive the medicinal and spiritual help they need. Thank You Jesus that You are our Overcomer!!! And PTSD is not to hard for You ….help them and their families to overcome and come out the victors in Jesus’ Name, because He wears the Victor’s crown !! Help all know there is hope in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. He simply wants our hearts …all of it! Not matter what they personally have done, or seen done to someone else there is forgiveness in Jesus. May all call upon the Name of the Lord and be saved ( Rom. 10:13) that are not. And all that are that they will be healed and encouraged to share their testimonies as You lead them too, Lord. In Jesus’ Name may their be a great revival among the military and may soldiers and their leaders turn to Jesus, the Way, the Truth and the Life the only way to You, Father is through faith in the Blood of Jesus to forgive sinners ( from John 14:6). And we are all sinners in need of a Saviour before our salvation. ( Rom. 3:23). Heal soldiers Lord in many ways, help heal their broken hearts. Heal their broken and struggling families. Deliver them in Jesus’ Name from all WOKENESS….do away with it forever Lord God, never to rear it’s ugly head again. Help every soldier know who they can be in Christ Jesus and Eph. 1 tells them just that!! Burn Your Words upon their hearts and minds, replacing the enemies lies. Save them and give them the mind of Christ. Heal their minds, bodies and souls…provide every medical & spiritual need they have. May they be respected and compensated. Deliver them from this present darkness, save them and turn them into Your lights who shine out of the darkness…lavish Your love on them God , that Your Goodness will lead them to repentance!!! Encourage Your saved soldiers in You and Your Word. Help them know there is nothing too hard for You to overcome and heal…not even PTSD. Praise You Lord, and great is Your-faithfulness to us!! In Jesus’ Name I pray believing Who’s same power that raised Him from the dead…lives in us believers. Make them all more than conquerors through Christ Jesus. Amen.

All branches of our military submit to the highest ranking officers, under the Commander in Chief, who is our President. Not only has the damaging Covid19 vaccine been mandatorily forced on all personnel on active duty, but woke instruction introduced in all military academies, and beyond. These unbiblical concepts (like CRT) are widely taught, rather than the basic principles of warfare, and traditional morality, cohesive command unity, through traditional American values. It is a TRAVESTY, which has greatly impaired our readiness. Pray these weaknesses be overcome soon, before we face military actions in a real battle.

My husband is a Disabled Veteran and he said years ago that PTSD stood for possessing the soul demons. The VA does NOT begin to understand it as they only look at it from a medical perspective not a spiritual one. There were Priests in Vietnam who prayed for our men and women to be in fear and anxiety, that they would be spiritually destroyed and lost. I wish I could remember the 4 specific things they prayed over our Military but it has been years. Pray that our veterans do not lose hope for their future!! Pray that they will feel our Nation regards them with honor and dignity and that they are valued and respected. Pray for the spouses!!! The divorce rate of Disabled Veterans, especially PTSD patients is extremely high. I thank God I understood what a Covenant vow of marriage means. Pray spouses comprehend that when they say for better or worse, richer or poorer, in sickness and in health until death do us part is and will always mean and require total commitment to God first and then our spouses. Pray they find the support of other PTSD spouses and Veterans who understand what they are going through. Pray for GODLY Psychological and Psychiatry professionals to help them with both medically necessary care and SPIRITUAL care. They must find both to withstand the enemies plan. Pray we as a Nation come to understand and support them for the price they and their families pay every single day. It is worth it, they are worth it and our Nation needs them!!! Please pray that our Military takeover by all the liberal propaganda that undermining the strength of our men and women who are serving right now including my grandson STOPS!!! Our Military Leadership needs to change and it needs to change quickly!!!

I recently retired after serving 24 years in the Army National Guard with several deployments. It is my opinion that the military is only as strong as the administration. Currently, this administration is caving in to this woke garbage and showing weakness to the rest of the world. Recruitment is at an all time low and this administration is to blame for it. The military is not meeting the needs for Chaplins, God fearing Chaplins that is. Years ago Chaplins would visit the troops/Units. I haven’t seen a Chaplin visit a Unit in years. This nation should be forever grateful for all the men and women who have served and instead we have ignorant people turning their backs on this nation which in turn hurts the recruitment of good sound individuals. This nation is great and I’m proud to have served, I only wish that other Americans would feel the same. If so called professional athletes want to take a knee or turn their back on this nation then we should oblige them and pay for a one way trip to another country. In the meantime, we need to pray for our leaders and this nation that they would repent and come to know Jesus Christ as their personal savior.

When I was in the Army (1966 to 1968) today’s crazy ideas did not exist. We had some racial issues leftover from the early 60’s. Morale issues revolved around that. I hate to think about the morale issues from the moral pronouncements forced on the troops now. It must be difficult for a Christian to live with these rules which contradict our beliefs. The hardest part of living in the service life, for me, was feeling I could not think for myself. I had to follow orders. That pressure must still be there, but now it is trying to force a soldier to go against religious beliefs. We need a change at the top soon to return to real moral principles.

I served in the U. S. Navy for four years active, 1966-1970. I was an air traffic controller and served in Texas and Alaska. It was all good. The Navy took care of me, appreciated me and I did well both professionally and financially. BUT… when I was released from active duty and sent home, it was another story all together. “Baby killer” was probably the kindest words I heard as I walked through the Chicago airport. My dad picked me up in Norfolk to take me home to Newport News and as we rode through several neighborhoods I noticed signs in the yards, “SAILORS AND DOGS, KEEP OFF THE GRASS.” That was many years ago and the bitterness lingers yet today. I just don’t want to hear the words “thank you for your service” or “we’re proud of you.” I just pray that this ungrateful nation will wake up. If America did what was right, there would be no need of Tunnel to Towers or Wounded Warriors. Do I appreciate our military today! More than you will ever know.

I am a retired US Navy commander. I served in the Office of Naval Intelligence, and that makes my perspective a little unusual. I’d like to draw your prayerful attention to the issue of “moral injury.”
A moral injury can occur in response to acting or witnessing behaviors that go against an individual’s values and moral beliefs. Imagine being strongly committed to the sanctity of human life, yet participating or witnessing wholesale killing. Imagine being committed to fundamental integrity, but in a job where you must lie to keep official secrets, or manipulate people to extract useful information. Actions like that.
It doesn’t matter if the actions are “justified” by warfare – deep down, it feels wrong .. it injures.
It can be a distressing psychological, behavioral, social, and spiritual aftermath of such events. It can produce profound feelings of guilt or shame, moral disorientation, and even alienation from society. “The accuser” will take advantage of this internal state, and build on those guilty, shameful feelings – and that will often limit individuals in ways you cannot anticipate.
The only cure for moral injury is to fully embrace God’s forgiveness, and, THE HARDEST PART, is to forgive ourselves. Many are unable to do that, and they suffer with self-condemnation and feelings of worthlessness for the rest of their lives.
Henry Wodsworth Longfellow once said, “Every man has his secret sorrows which the world knows not; and oftentimes we call a man cold, when he is only sad.”
If he is a veteran or active duty military, that secret sorrow and sadness may be moral injury.

Thank you, Thomas for sharing a prayer need that I would not have recognized without your honest sharing. I can certainly understand the possibility of moral injury occurring, and it being hard to recover from. To those who suffer moral injury, may the LORD give shalom and healing, and the ability to forgive yourself.

Good that you are giving a voice to veterans. My active duty was far from combat; the Army paid me to study the Russian language. Then for 14 years I worked in Army Reserve administration. Was discharged in 2004. Now I receive a pension. But the “wokeness” in today’s military makes it hard for soldiers to repent and believe the gospel. Transition back to civilian life can be harder than serving in the military. We need to learn to trust the Lord, “for He is good.”

I have served. in the military for 24 years 9 months and 2 days. My complaint is that I can not be seen at a military hosptial and when I go to a VA clinic for my feet, which told me I had two broken bones in my feet and could not do anything about it that they were directed to only cut my toenails and when they do that they cut my feet and just put my sock on and do not stop the bleeding, I take blood thinner. Also they will not operated on me cause I am over 60. If this is taking can of a military person I would not take care of it at all. Also I cannot feel on the bottom of my feet and they will not send me to some one who can take care of me. They say that the only thing they can do is cut my toenails. Thank you for hearing my complaindt.

Our son is a combat medic in special forces. The amount of confusion and poor leadership in the army has been troubling. The people in our military need a witness of the power of God that is able to come alongside and empower them with discernment and strength. The greatest need they have is for spiritual awakening and miraculous response to it.
Our son is a believer and has met very few fellow Christians in his time in service – but these are good people who have really not had a compelling witness. May God open hearts and eyes to the Way, the Truth, and the Life!

a special challenge military families face is being able to create a family and they very much want a family. Health conditions prevent conception and adoption for active military families has huge barriers. Moving frequently keeps adopting through foster care from happening. Private adoption is very complicated and expensive. Pray for this special couple that would very much like to parent a godly generation.

My husband served in the USMC 66-69 and then again 72-75 and was stationed at Camp Lejeune. As many of you know by now, the water on those base and surrounding bases was toxic from chemicals spilled into the drinking water for 37 years. My husband now has Parkinson’s disease as a result. As the saying goes, Semper Fidelis, always faithful. but where was that loyalty and faithfulness to those men when they were being poisoned by toxic drinking water and were never told? My husband still lives by the motto, “Once a Marine, Always a Marine” and will always be proud of that service and time in his life. I. on the other hand, am very angry. Please pray for both of us. For him, a slow progression of this disease until a cure is found and for me, the strength to endure what’s ahead of us.

Yes, i served just over 23yrs in the U.S. Coast Guard! I retired in 2010. It was a great experience & career! I wish i would have stayed a couple more years though! The “political correctness” was starting to get into our Military then! Since Obama was elected in 2008, it had accelerated! There is the STRESS of family separation! Deployment and training! Many days, months away from home! ALOT of sexual immortality! Adultery, ect.. men & women work closely together! Lack of Strong leadership & morals in top leadership! Overworked! Alcohol use & partying lifestyle especially among junior enlisted! FAR to FEW Chaplains to minister to the troops! LACKING in PATRIOTISM and Serving the Nation! Whats in it for me attitude! That was over 10 years ago, i imagine it worse now!

Well I know that sexual harassment and even worse than that is still rampant in the military like it was when I was in. So that issue needs to be covered and I also know when I was in that there were many drug dealers and drug addicts. There’s also massive amounts of physical abuse on women and I’m sure on men too from either their spouses or a boyfriend or girlfriend because I know women can be abusers too.

All of the males in my family have served in the military. My father served as a combat medic in Europe in WW2. My uncle served in the Special Forces and saw extensive combat in Vietnam. I have served my country traveling numerous countries and lived on remote locations, once with my family (wife and five children) for a period of five years. My brother served 2 tours in Iraq and saw combat and my son served as a combat medic in Afghanistan and experienced combat with the Taliban. All of us are believers with faith in Christ. Each of us have PTSD. I can only thank God for his compassion and love. I grew up with a father who feared hospitals, doctors, and had to leave the room at the sight of blood. He isolated himself and immersed himself in the Bible and worship music to the detriment of his family life. Fighting daily to forget, to forgive himself and erase the horrors of conflict. My uncle struggled with sleep nightmares and went through several marriages before finding someone tougher than himself who helped bring the peace of God into his life. My brother has struggled with isolating himself from the family, struggles with forgiveness of himself and fought against substance abuse that he used to erase the pain. He still struggles with anger management and has to guard against alcohol but he has come a long way with his faith and is improving. I have always had faith in God and a belief that no one could harm a hair on my head unless it fulfilled a greater destiny and purpose in Christ. He is my God and my salvation and it is in Him that I trust. I have seen death more than I care to admit. I have survived so many dangerous and potentially deadly encounters around the globe. Yet, in spite of my faith in God, I have struggled with isolation. I have spent untold hours alone in the mountains in tears and prayer with my Father. I struggle to find relationships with other men that are of substance and depth. I have struggled with PTSD. I was triggered into my first panic attack suddenly at a restaurant when a family behind the wall from my table started speaking Farsi. I thought I was having a heart attack and started shaking. I realized that I was in an uncontrollable panic and left the table and walked outside and stood in the rain out of embarrassment and fear that people would see me. My wife came out with our food in ToGo bags and we went to the car where I sobbed in her arms for an hour. Yet, I have tried to remain strong for my family and those with my sphere of responsibility. I don’t want to burden others with the pain I have felt inside. So I share some of my pain with no one but my wife and a counselor and always with God. My son has fared much better than the rest of us. I held him in my arms, told him that God was covering him and to go do his job as a minister of God. I barely made it back to the truck before bursting into tears and asking God to preserve my only son. My wife and family and church members interceded for him daily asking God to protect him from harm. His faith in God, certainty of mission and the righteous prayers of believers availed much! He survived a sniper attack merely inches from his head and a massive bombing and attacks by the Taliban while serving his Special Operations team as a combat medic. I speak of these things from the inside. Knowing first hand the dynamics at play for family members. I have tried so hard to protect my children from my job. I tried my best to shelter them from my pain and allow them to grow up untarnished by the evil in this world. It’s not easy and most of all, my hero is my wife, who has endured untold thousands of miles of travel, has worked so hard to care and raise our family, often in my absence and her capacity to love me and help me through the pain I have endured with compassion and unconditional love. I go to church and help minister to others when I am able. Yet, no one around me knows the stories I could tell, the death I have seen, the demonic strongholds I have walked through. There are others like me, who have struggled with the pain, found refuge in Christ and turned to the God of Psalms 91. I struggle to fit in their world. I want to share in the living of life without mental restraint. But my perspective about life and it’s fragility, the absolute power and authority of Gods word and the absolute dependence on the Holy Spirit to help you survive, just seems a bit surreal to the few that I have spoken to. I don’t want to be viewed with pity or praised for my service. I just want to be an equal part of your lives, where life seems normal without having to question motives or constantly look around you to assess any potential threats. Like so many others, I just want to be valued, understand and fit within a community of friends and believers. I am blessed to be a man of faith that runs to my Heavenly Father when the going gets tough. But so many others, veterans who served honorably, especially younger vets of today, are served up platitudes and woke solutions that have no substance and are based on evil ideologies. They commit suicide out of sheer loss of hope, a way out of the isolation and pain that they feel because they are not grounded in someone far greater than themselves that gives them hope. I have stood at that very threshold, glimpsing at a quick way out during a moment of anguish, torment and pain. But I could not do anything because I was unwilling to stand before the God who saved me from so many calamities and try to tell Him that He wasn’t good enough for my pain any longer and I had decided to take matters in my own hands. No. You just have to suck it up and grit your teeth and run to the Lord of all things, Jesus Christ. Even if you have to do it alone in the middle of the forest screaming at demons!

Father God, I lift up to you your faithful son Rob, thank you for the tenacity that you have given him to pursue you in all areas of his life. Father I pray you would remove all PTSD from him in the name of Jesus. That He will sleep this very night with supernatural peace, we break off all demonic forces that would try to remind him of where he has been and what he has seen. Lord remove the trauma that causes a physical reaction in his body, we plead the blood Jesus over his mind, his heart and his body. That every cell in his body comes to the obedience of Christ that every chain be broken in the name of Jesus! You came to give Rob life and life abundantly! We pray abundant life and from this day forth he will no longer be bound but set free! Where the spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom!!! Remove the barriers from his life to experience full surrender and freedom in you Jesus! Thank you for surrounding him with your true believers who love you Jesus! We bless him and his family in the name of Jesus!!! Amen!

Thank you for sharing your heart with us Rob, even as it tore up our own(crying as I read this). I had 3 sons in the military, a father(who died of “an Army related disease” when we were quite young), and a long line of military ancestors like you’ve had. I agree the PTSD is VERY real, and the VA very untrusted among many(fear of some form of “tattling” or retribution). Please look into one of those ministries, founded by former military who DO understand, & DO still serve our great God. See the Mighty Oaks Foundation too, by Chad Robichaux, and many others. Praying for you Buddy.

Pray for organizations like Cadence International and Officers’ Christian Fellowship who reach out to our military with the love and compassion of Christ. As a former military spouse, I can testify to how important these organizations are.
Cadence, in particular, reaches out to young military members, many of whom are away from home for the first time and are trying to not only figure out how to navigate life but also their military fit.

My College roommate, Erv Meyer, served for years with Cadence International (formerly called Overseas Christian Servicemen’s Centers), and noted that young servicemen are a strategic mission field, as those who trust Christ are young, and most have decades of life ahead to serve by sharing the Great Commission. It is a wonderful ministry – primarily to enlisted personnel. OCF, which mainly reaches out to Officers and their spouses, is also a faithful, Christian organization. Thank you for urging us to pray for each of them as they minister Biblical truth to currently serving military personnel.

My simple, yet profound story inspires me every time I tell it. Why? Because it proves the reality of God’s love, grace and mercy.
Although I was raised in a Christian home where we consistently read the Bible, prayed and attended church as well as other Christian events, the “world” offered me exciting pleasures of sin. I was weak in my flesh and indulged, but via the many prayers offered on my behalf, God arranged my circumstances so that I truly gave my heart to Christ October 31, 1967. Then was married in November, and inducted into the Army in December. Quite a whirlwind of changes in my life brought me to “put Jesus to the test”, so to speak.
Since I had recently lost eleven friends and acquaintances in Viet Nam, I prayed (as well as my family and church) that The Lord would work a miracle and deliver me from serving in Nam, where I was sure I would die like my friends did. At my Advanced Infantry Training in Fort Ord, the last 13 AIT cycles had gone to Viet Nam with very few exceptions. It was not looking good for me.
Shortly before our commencement, the orders came down assigning us to our next duty stations. Almost the entire battalion was sent to Korea. I cried with joy.
To place your trust totally in His hands is scary at first, however, to this day, my faith has increased exponentially as I trust Him every time a new challenge comes my way.

I served in The United States Air Force ( 1971 – 1978)…. I entered to avoid A Draft Notice during the Vietnam War…. It gave me at least an option that I could determine the Branch of Service …. After seven Years … and after the Vietnam conflict I was given the Choice of either leaving the Service or making it a Full time Career…. Faced with cross training into another career Field or getting out… I got out…. The Air Force trained me in Critical Thinking and gave me the Opportunity to see the World… What more could a Small Town Boy wish for… I still consider myself a Patriot…. But from a distance… Since I have moved and Lived in New Zealand for the last 19 years… God Bless the US Military no matter what the Persuasion….

Oh! My! There’s so MUCH in being a military family, that it’s challenging to pin point just one life challenge, but I will share the most important. I served for 20 years in the US Army. I fought in Vietnam twice. I hated leaving my family, but knew that duty called. I thank God that I was not physically injured, but the mental trauma took years and years to overcome. If it had not been for my beautiful wife, her persistence in prayer for me, and her assistance in just loving me, I would not have been able to get past PTSD. I am nearing my 88th birthday, and believe, with all my heart, that it is the Lord Almighty, and His keeping power, who has sustained me.

I served in the Army from 87-92 with two years overseas. It’s an isolating place sometimes, especially being away from family. But you have to make the most of it and try to surround yourself with other believers. The more the military tries to “right its wrongs” the more they get it wrong. Sexual misconduct and verbal violence against women was rampant when I was in the service. I think it’s still like that, but it’s gone overboard and change seems to be a shell game. We need to pray that we have honest and godly men and women in leadership and that respect for all persons comes from the heart. Otherwise, morale is low and it’s hard to be motivated when leaders are more concerned about their careers than their troops.

My husband was in USN & USNR 1980-2009. They need prayer against sexual addiction. The USN and other branches of the Military spend billions of tax dollars providing pornogaphy to ships and bases. Also handing out condoms at Ports they go to for liberty. The sexual provision that is public in Military is destroying families. The USN has a high rate of divorce even though the wives have been faithful to their husband’s. The wife is at home raising the children and keeping the spiritual part of the family grounded in the Lord. While the USN is working to destroy the family unit and relationship between husband and wife. Also pray for the families. My marriage ended in 2004 because he had sexual addiction and did not want me or God anymore. He said he couldn’t get God out of me. PTL!

Pam, I am praying for you right now.
I know the strain and pain of military service firsthand, but my 3rd child married an unfaithful man when she was 18, and it ended in a divorce. However, through God’s grace, after many prayers, her wayward husband returned and they were remarried. He has been faithful to her to this very day, as far as we know
His Army career took him to Kuwait and Iraq, where he was injured several times when IEDs blew up his vehicles as well as other injuries, and PTSD.
Pam, always trust The Lord. No matter how dark our circumstances look, there is hope in Jesus. A silver lining is behind that dark cloud, but need your spiritual eyes open to see it.

Thank You, LORD, for each and every service member, regardless of why, when, where, and how they served. We owe a debt to all who have served. I grew up in the Vietnam era, so I know first hand how returning vets were treated by many. I repent on my own behalf, and on behalf of our nation for the way many were treated with disdain and hatred, or were simply not appreciated, or they were ignored. It was not “cool” to be patriotic during that era, and I am ashamed to say I allowed that to “mute” me to some degree, and I was not vocally supportive as I should have been. I have many family members who are serving or have served – father, son, nieces/nephews, and now a granddaughter. The military culture is effecting her very negatively because it has degraded in quality, and she has allowed it to happen. I am grieved, and deeply concerned. But I cry out to You, LORD, for You see and know all. Please intervene in our military, and in the individual lives of our service members to accomplish Your plans and purposes. It is in You that our hope is secured.
Thank you to each and every service member!!

I am a USN CDR (Retired), having retired after 24 years of service in 1994. I graduated from Saint Vincent College, Latrobe, PA in May 1970. I had a “draft lottery” number of “55” (out of 365), so I figured I better go talk with the Navy recruiters! I did that, was accepted into the Nvay Air Intelligence (1630) program and reported to officer boot camp at NAS Pensacola in November 1970. Though I intended to stay for only three or four years, surprisingly, I found I really liked the work and the Navy. Many challenges like my first two year tour in Guam (beautiful island, great people!). Worked for several disagreeable superiors; but frankly, “I” made it work. It was tough, being sometimes half the world away from home, but you “just keep moving”! Service members need prayers to keep them moving. Sometimes difficult people, poor working conditions, homesickness, etc., are challenges, but you focus on the critical job at hand. Please pray that military people keep focused on the job, be always honest, learn how to deal with all kinds of people…….all to accomplish the mission. Always do a job you can be proud of! Thank you for asking!

My son served in the US Army, and we are so proud of him, we praise God that he came home safe. I believe that every Christian should pray every day for these men and women who protect our freedom and for all those that have sacrifice their lives and especially for their families. May God continue to bless, protect and guide all of our men and women in the Armed Forces. We need to pray for this woke evilness that is trying to take over our military. May God have mercy on our Country.

Military members stationed overseas face culture shock. Living in a country in which no native speaks your language causes a dichotomy of social interaction. Monetary exchange rates can be confusing & can greatly increase or decrease the military member or military dependent’s buying power. Ruled by 2 sets of law (UCMJ & foreign national law) that often negates or limits one’s choices in healthcare. Living on an American military base where most everyone speaks English can seem isolating when everywhere else one travels in country speak a different language. Some overseas assignments cause family separation with a variety of social problems, child rearing, education, direct emotional support etc. Time zone changes affect sleep habits adversely.

My husband and I both served in the US Navy. I was in from 1979-1986. At the time there was a push for females to be brought into the nuclear power field. Please pray for maturity for these young men and women. In light of the recent transgender movement, this is even more needed now! Pray for the families of these young men who are deployed for 9 months, and even longer. This is hard on everyone. Also pray for strong friendships to be built for the men and for the wives and children. Military life can be so solitary.

US Naval Academy grad. USMC 1980-1992. Platoon Commander, Company Commander. The military goes where their leadership points them. Effective prayer for junior officers and enlisted should focus on being faithful and doing their best every day and letting God worry about tomorrow. The higher ranks are highly ambitious and will follow the path to promotion. Lately, that means embracing “woke” policies. That won’t change until the politicians change and they won’t change until God changes them.

Very good point Dale, and your concise depiction of todays military challenges is awesome.
Although it is many times very difficult to fathom…our creator-God is in perfect control, working out His plan for the ages.
The Word of God is our training manual and marching orders. As we read His Word and pray, the closer that we get to God, and the more our lives resemble the life of Jesus.
On the other hand, “Woke” leaders are from the false god, Satan. Satan is “the destroyer”, per God’s Word.
So with you, I intend to pray for God to change the hearts and minds of the foolish “woke” leaders.

Boys were taught to be men. We were patriots and ready to do whatever it took for our country.
Today’s “woke” culture has sadly infiltrated our military, thanks to the weakness and stupidity of the Biden Administration. We have to pray out this evil spirit of “woeness” and those who are promoting it in our military, including the service academies.

My son is in the Navy. The sexual perversion and assaults are rampant. Indoctrination classes are held regularly to force the sailors to align with the new diversity, equity and inclusion mantra. He tells me the quality and capability of those whom he instructs is incredibly low. From top to bottom the focus is more on remaking the sailors into the image of the new work world than it is on keeping our ships and personnel battle ready. Incompetence at all levels. There are still a few decent men and women in the ranks, but it’s very disheartening. Please pray for my son, A, that someone through his time in the military he would find the Lord again, and that Christians would have courage to speak up for Christ.

Before we shut our eyes at night the drill instructor would yell to the top of his rough gravely voice, SQUAD NUMBER ONE, GOODNIGHT!
And 1st SQUAD would return the goodnight “GOD, COUNTRY, CORP YE YE SIR” Then squad number 2,3,4 same.
You just had 80 men yell to the top of their voice!!! And GOD was First…In OUR GOODNIGHT REPLY!!!

WE WERE DISCIPLINED!
WE WERE TRAINED!
WE WERE HARDY & FEARLESS!
WE WERE YOUNG and yes, IMPRESSIONABLE!!
WE WERE TAUGHT THAT WE ARE FIGHTING FOR OUR COUNTRY, OUR HONOR, but most of all GOD JESUS CHRIST’S !
Political class controls the money!
It’s the way of the world!
I’m 75 now and I’ve never felt more faith in Jesus than today. I am flawed!! But I believe all will bend their knee to the Master of the universe and Satan will pay for all the doings since the beginning!
A soul is very important that both God and Satan want it. Let the Spirt that lives in all of us go with Jesus

I was in the Army 1/73-1/76. I was in for close to 4 months and went home for my mothers birthday on a weekend pass. W went to church wher for her birthday present. That’s all she asked w. At that meeting I accepted Christ as my savior. To say I was young green Christian was an understatement. Instead of going out drinking every night I started reading the Bible every night. Sometimes 2 or 3 books in the Bible every night. I felt like everyone around me was unsaved and didn’t meet one other Christian. I met 1 or 2 who said they were Christians but talked the same as everyone else and did what everyone else did. But spending time in the word made me start to grow in the Lord. But God was faithful and got me through it all. A year and a half later I did meet some genuine believers and I started to fellowship with them.
I would recommend that you pray that God would strengthen them and help them to be strong in Him and to be an effective witness to those around them. When everyone around you, that you are living with is an unbeliever you will either sink or swim. I decided to swim and told others what God did in my life.

I served for 20 years to the Air Force (2 years) Army 18. I was asked to assist the Chaplains and care for families when the Chaplain deployed.
Pray for families. When deployment ends the family has to readjust to dad or mom back. Many times there has been trauma to the deployed and it comes home with them.
Wokeness enters in through those in power. Specifically if someone wants rank it is very political. If they play the rank game then they may listen to all the voices pushing the Military to confirm their ideas.

I am a family member of several military personnel. My dad was a navy pilot, my husband was in the army in Vietnam and my nephew is in the navy. I ask that you pray for the families. They don’t necessarily see the horrors of war but they see the effects on their loved ones. Also, families get moved around a lot and that affects them. Pray for those coming out of service as they readjust to “normal” life. The military is effective at breaking folks down then building them into soldiers but doesn’t do anything to help transition them back into civilian life. Especially if they have faced combat. Instead of focusing on “inclusion “ they should focus on soldiers being soldiers and then helping them become productive citizens.

Currently serving in the Army since 2005. I am a senior enlisted member of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal. I have seen the destruction of many soldiers lives through our adversaries attacks on the mind, body and souls of our soldiers. I would request that these four specific areas be considered during interceding for our enlisted troops.
1. Pray against the break down of the military family. A soldier who is married and has a strong support system is less likely to become a casualty to suicide or other mental illness.
2. Pray against the spirits of Fear. The single most effective tool the enemy has against our troops is to drive uncertainty into their minds. Whether it be through the loss of a loved one, friend or poor leadership with our current global situation bringing the doubt of the future holding any promise for them or their children. A soldier is fighting for the future, so if that future looks grim, there is a huge wave of anxiety and fear that comes over them.
3. Pray against the spirit of death; suicide is the American Military’s greatest enemy and the spirit of death is effectively convincing war fighters that there is no HOPE. Ask our Father to bring HOPE bringers (Christian soldiers) into the ranks to speak hope and life back into our soldiers hearts.
4. Pray against the corrupt medical system. Our health care in the Military is unproductive at healing anyone. The best they do is cover up the suffering long enough for the soldier to either retire, forced to end service or surrender by suicide. The use of prescription drugs is out of control. We need healing of soul, mind and body in the Military. Ask the Father to bring us Christian medical physicians that use natural remedies and healing techniques to get our soldiers back on the battlefield.

Thanks and may God bless America!

Save them from poisoning, as well as other threats. God bless and anoint the peacemakers!

Navy during the Vietnam era. Periodically in hostile waters. I pray, and ask for agreement in prayer, for proper, adequate and complete training for our military personnel. Not indoctrination or imposed ideology, but effective training.

In battle, you don’t have time to consult a manual. You don’t even have time to be scared. You have to TRUST YOUR TRAINING and do your duty. And you must be able to trust that your shipmates are doing the same. A statement attributed to FDR holds, “Courage is not the absence of fear; it is the conscious assessment that something else is more important.”

Please pray for wisdom for our leaders, both military and civilian, and wisdom and courage for our sailors, soldiers, Marines and aviators. Please ask the Lord for His protection and guidance, that all may come home safely. And please ask for strength and comfort for the families who are waiting.
