Where is our money going? Is aid sent to starving kids in Afghanistan really being pocketed by the Taliban?

That’s according to a new report from the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR), released to the public on Tuesday.
Another $1.7 billion ‘remained available for possible disbursement’ at the time of the report, dated July 30.
The report was made public as the U.S. approaches the two-year anniversary of the frenzied withdrawal. …
The funds that have been appropriated since the Taliban takeover in 2021 flow through non-governmental organizations and other groups working on reconstruction projects. But with the Taliban wielding control over nearly every sector of the economy, it’s more than likely a portion of those coffers have ended up in their hands.
In April SIGAR head John Sopko told the House Foreign Affairs Committee he ‘cannot assure this committee or the American taxpayer we are not currently funding the Taliban.’
Sopko also said the Biden administration had stonewalled his probe and refused to hand over documents to track the flow of cash under the Taliban.
The report cited another analysis from the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) that found the Taliban views aid, particularly that from the United Nations (UN), as a ‘revenue stream.’
The Taliban are ‘pushing for ever-increasing degrees of credit and control over the delivery of aid from the UN,’ the report found. …
Sopko noted in April that in addition to the $2.35 billion, another $3.5 billion is slated to come in to Afghanistan through an international fund.
‘I don’t trust the Taliban as far as you can throw them,’ Sopko told the committee. ‘The information we’re getting — again, not from the State Department who isn’t talking to us or USAID … is that the Taliban are already diverting funds.’ …

When will our government confess and repent for the poor handling of US withdrawal from Afghanistan?
There is one other thing in this mess that we are in..that I think is the overarching theme that will go a long ways towards resolving probably every societal and national problem-, if it is done with our full engagement from the heart.
If we stand firm-, and really dig in,- -we’ve heard so much about getting involved-,to the point where it is starting to become worn out. However it’s more than just going to school board meetings, it’s learning to be citizen legislators-,and I’ve realized that when I’m talking to people- which isn’t very often, ..I’m usually stuck in this room-,that I know more than I think I know-, but Nowhere near enough-,especially when I’m listening to someone like Catherine Engelbrecht.. and coming from the background as I did-. where I left my original trajectory, – which admittedly was only spoken of-, and never really plotted.. which was to go on from where I originally was doing quite well academically-,as an adolescent-, on to greater things.. so the point being that there’s a lot to learn-, and they keep saying “well you don’t really have to know anything, you just show up, and get involved”.
well I hope whoever said that is planning on said volunteers being quick Learners-,..I’m not a quick learner, ..anyways- the sooner we take over our own governance- the sooner these evils will stop- but we’ve got a long way to go-,because there’s so much evil- and of course it all depends on our obedience to the Lordsl promptings and guidance.

Starting to sound like a broken record.
Lord, let us be conduits through which your Holy Spirit guides us to implement the original model that the founders created for us, in We the People being our own governance. Lord I know I have heard it said many times-,that when we start showing up in various meetings- and in various City Council meetings, and other Halls of legislature, that they sit up and take notice..and respond- even just the presence of our type of Innocence..which is- we look like the deer in the headlights- and not jaded over-,and it has been said the Lord comes alongside us-,even those of us that maybe less religious.. Lord in spite of my estimation of myself as trying my best to follow you..I find that it seems like I’m doing things on my own-, so help us Lord to sense your presence -.and be in your care all the time- as we take on these responsibilities Lord.

Do y’all know that-,we created the Taliban-, back in about 1986..during the Iran Contra ” affair”(?).. that is when Ollie North was in the media a lot.
He did turn out to be a patriot though.
Lord, I think my prayer, maybe our prayer, should be.. that you could help us work through, or untangle.. the web of deception that we have been a big part of in creating, that I think has come back on our own heads. Of course I am referring to those in government leadership positions, – that have been shown to be..not really leaders or servants at all-,but just more corrupt politicians.. to answer one of the commenters in this thread-, that is how this came to be. And Lord-, really..it is you that is doing the untangling.. because we are really just conduits through which your Authority is manifested.. at least it seems we are powerless.
I know we are taught we have your Authority- so let us speak in your Authority that these webs of deception would be exposed for what they are and that we could have fresh words of prayer.. as it sure seems like there’s a redundancy in the same old words over and over again.
so Lord let us not grow weary ..let me not grow weary in well doing-, or weary in prayer.. and continue to trust you and focus on you Lord-, just focus on you-,and not the weariness of this world that we are continually faced with, in this evil world.

Lord deliver us from evil. How can this happen? Oh Lord where our leaders taking us ? Please Lord deliver us out of the hands of evil. Come back to us in America Oh God. We need your help In Jesus mighty name Amen
Father, Cause the Taliban to turn on itself, to come down and fall apart in Jesus’ name! May we grow in our trust in You and be strong to stand firmly against evil regimes both in prayer and action. Thank You Lord.
