I Prayed have prayed
Lord, thank You for how You use the performing arts to show Your mighty hand in history — even during challenging times!

On the National Day of Prayer last year, Levi Smith prayed over Broadway’s Longacre Theatre, where he had performed in A Bronx Tale, and his prayers were answered in very specific ways:

When Smith watched this video, he said, “Wow! That’s so awesome!” His mother, Candi Smith, said: “Praise Jesus! Why does it blow my mind how God answered Levi’s prayer so specifically? God is so good and deeply worthy of praise!”

I started praying over Broadway theaters regularly with Christopher Monroe, artistic director at The Salvation Army Times Square Corps Theatre 315, while all theaters were closed for the lockdowns. We’ve seen many answered prayers since they’ve been opening up again, and it was great to have these prayers recorded!

Leopoldstadt (the play mentioned in the video) will run at the Longacre Theatre through July 2.

Producers recommend the play for children age 10 and up, but it is a secular play. There is profanity, blasphemy, and a scene that begins after an act of adultery when the actors are clothed. There are also statements by a Jewish woman implying Jesus was only a man and not the Son of God.

In the comments below, post your prayers for Leopoldstadt to have a powerful impact on moving our culture away from anti-Semitism. Ask the Lord to continue answering our prayers over Broadway and to move all productions into alignment with His standards and truths.

Lord, bless those who stand on the sidewalks to pray over these venues. Give them the decernment and understanding to bind the enemy and loose the truth of Your word. Protect them as they share the gospel, attentive to Your voice. Open doors of ministry in the lives of those who are in this play and also within the theater industry.
In Your name Lord Jesus do we ask.
Amen
