Jenniffer González presents legislation to include Puerto Rico in SSI and SNAP

The resident commissioner in Washington was sworn in Tuesday for the 118th session of Congress
The resident commissioner in Washington, Jenniffer González , presented bills to integrate Puerto Rico into Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
He has also proposed that the residents of Puerto Rico have access to the federal work credit (EITC), instead of the $600 million subsidy for a similar program created by the government of Puerto Rico.
After being sworn in on Tuesday for the 118th session of Congress – the legislators present on Saturday morning had already been sworn in – González announced that he had submitted his first legislative measures of 2023.
The Democratic majority of the House of Representatives approved in November 2021, as part of the legislation with the “Build Back Better” plan of President Biden, to include the residents of Puerto Rico in the SSI…. (Excerpt from El Nuevo Dia)
