Governor marks 105 years of US citizenship for Puerto Ricans

Gov. Pedro Pierluisi Urrutia celebrated 105 years of U.S. citizenship for Puerto Ricans on Wednesday, taking to social media to send a message of U.S.-Puerto Rico solidarity. “Today we commemorate 105 years as American citizens,” the governor said in a Facebook post. “We celebrate the benefits, the privileges. the freedoms and the rights that the Constitution of the United States guarantees us.”
Pierluisi called on Puerto Ricans to raise their voices, “because you and I know that Puerto Rico wants more.”“You and I aspire to equality,” he said. “We demand the equality that each American living under the U.S. flag deserves.” The governor celebrated the anniversary in Washington, D.C. ..
