Twelve people were injured Wednesday morning when an explosion rocked an apartment building in Gaithersburg, Maryland.

Investigators say two of those hurt were critically injured.

Fire crews say at least one of the buildings has partially collapsed and several nearby buildings had to be evacuated.

Heavy smoke could be see from miles away as crews on the ground worked to put out the flames.
