I agree with you that man perverts everything, and that any instrument can be used for false worship.
But I don’t believe there is any Scriptural basis for claiming that God redeems everything, or that any instrument can be used for true worship. God told Israel not to say, “How did these nations serve their gods? I also will do likewise” (Deuteronomy 12:30).
Drums are only one element of CCM that imitates practices originating in demon worship and/or human rebellion and pride. Imitating the practices of secular rock musicians whose appearance and demeanor openly declare their devotion to the world, the flesh, and the devil is undiscerning at best, and diabolical at worst. It does not worship God, but mocks Him.
Concerning drums, they were used in demonic worship more than a thousand years before the first book of the Bible was written. They are conspicuously absent from Genesis to Revelation. And, as noted above, the earliest drummer named in historical literature was a priestess who served in the temple of the Moon in Ur, the city from which God called Abraham to come out from the pagan worship practiced by his ancestors.
God was very merciful with ancient Israel, calling them to repent of their idolatry and other sins for many centuries before ultimately sending them into captivity. God has likewise been very merciful with His church, calling us to repent of our idolatry and other sins for many centuries. Of the seven churches to whom He sent messages in the book of Revelation, He called five of them to repent. Even in the two churches He didn’t specifically call to repent, He noted the presence among them of the “synagogue (or congregation) of Satan,” consisting of those who “say they are Jews (i.e. true believers) and are not, but lie” (Revelation 2:9 and 3:9).
From the time Christ established His church, Satan (the father of lies) has been transforming himself into an angel of light, and sending his ministers (deceitful workers) to transform themselves into ministers of righteousness (2 Corinthians 11:13-15). In this way idolatry and deception of all kinds have entered the church. CCM is, for the most part, a form of idolatry that the devil has effectively introduced on a large scale within God’s church, and from which God calls us to repent, whether we have been innocently deceived or knowingly sinning. In view of God’s mercy, let us forsake all idolatry and deception that He reveals to us, and worship Him in spirit and in truth (John 4:22,23).
