On June 12, 1987, President Ronald Reagan made his famous Berlin Wall Speech at the Brandenburg Gate. He shouted the words to the General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, Mr. Gorbachev, tear this wall down! President Reagan had a disdain for communism. As he stood at the gateway between East and West Germany, he sent a powerful message of freedom to the world, especially to the families who lived under communist oppression in East Germany. At the time, President Reagan, nor anyone else, perceived that the Berlin Wall would topple two and one-half years later, signaling the end of communist rule in Eastern Europe and Russia.

In his book Live Not By Lies: A Manual For Christian Dissidents, Rod Dreher shares the story of a Christian academic, Valdo Palko. One cold night Valdo left his home knowing that his mission could end in death. At the very least, he would have to endure the cannon-like water spewing from policemen’s hoses. His wife begged him not to go, but Valdo felt it was his duty to stand with other underground church members in a peaceful protest for religious freedom. His response to his wife’s pleas was that his dignity as a man depended on showing up to stand with fellow believers. Valdo later said I thought back then that communism would last for the next thousand years. The truth was, it did not.
Dreher states that nearly all Western experts and academic scholars who had spent their careers studying Soviet communism failed to predict its rapid demise. Yet, while communism raged, Christian dissidents faithfully prayed and held peaceful protests. Others did what they could to alleviate the suffering as much as possible.
In November 1971, I took my first of many trips into Eastern Europe to deliver Bibles, Sunday School material, food, and money to help relieve the pain of the communist imposed religious persecution and extreme poverty. On that first trip and many after that, the pastors thanked us profusely, and many wept when we left. The trips were always emotional. To witness first-hand poverty and persecution believers suffered under communist rule was heart rendering. At that time, no one we visited or the ones who made trips with me had any thought there would ever be an end to the oppressive rule brought on by communism. We truly believed that each of those pastors would be under oppressive governments forever. But they weren’t.
The free world rejoiced when on November 9, 1989, the Berlin Wall was torn down, and communism began to lose its heavy hand over the people of Eastern Europe and Russia. Believers were free.
Today, it looks as though the United States will be forever under the rule of communist leaning politically correct liberals. There is no relief in sight to stop those who teach hate and disrespect to our children, tearing down our republic with each school year. They mock those who openly express their faith in God. It appears this type of action will forever be in vogue. But that will not be the case. History is on our side. If we all do our part by speaking out, praying, helping, and living our lives out in truth, tyranny cannot live. It will have to succumb to God’s rule. It is those who remain steadfast in the face of tyranny who will see the hand of God bring down evil structures. Perhaps, we will see it happen in a day!

Father tear down the walls of terrany in our country. We don t know what to do! Our hearts are on You. Stand firm believing our God is pouring out justice mercy in strongholds we do not see in natural. Give discernment in this tough time.

During the forty-year celebration of East German rule by Russia, Honecker (Pres. of East Germany) had been pressured by Gorbachev to give East Germans more freedoms. Protests broke out across the country. Eleven days later God did a miracle. A communist party spokesman messed up the message he was to convey and instead stated, “The regime has decided to invoke a ruling to allow every citizen of the East German republic to emigrate through East German border post”. He mistakenly conveyed that all travel restrictions were being lifted, making it sound like,the citizens of East Germany were free to leave. (This is from an excellent book, Forty Autumns by Nina Wilner). The gates were opened immediately and the spokesman, Schabowski, seemed perplexed at what he had just said!

Abba, today we join our hearts, minds, and voices. Abba, tear down these socialist and communist walls in our nation! You flattened great and fortified walls in the battle of Jericho, you tore down the Berlin Wall, and we are looking to you for deliverance from evil which has taken over our land. We humble ourselves and say we have brought this on ourselves by being passive and complacent and seeking the things of this world more than you. Have mercy, Abba. We bow down before you. We humble ourselves. Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. Lead us not into a time of trial, but deliver us from the evil one. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory both now and forever more, in Jesus name we pray, Amen.
I was most encouraged by the hope of change when it seems hopeless.
But I must confess that I have to keep myself in check by asking if we have to lose everything for a harvest of souls, am I all in?
Since all we have is really His, I know His grace would be sufficient. I am most concerned about the loss of freedom of speech and how MSM and left leaning politicians continue to call good evil and evil good.

In his book, Love Not the World, Watchman Nee said Satan will control every human institution. Communism is not about class struggle. It is Satanic. Go back to its founder and look at the behavior of communist states. The commonality is hostility to God. If this coup succeeds we are on a fast track to the tribulation but God is not willing that any should perish. If we prevail more can be saved and discipled.
I have often thought if our government becomes more corrupt (which we are praying against) that the tribulation is much closer.
I keep thinking of Ninevah – it was not in God’s heart to bring judgment on them, but for them to heed Jonah’s warning to repent. When they repented of their sins, God withheld His judgment – THIS is our God! Amen! The Lord has heard our prayers of repentance and our pleas for help in conquering this great evil that has permeated our nation. He is victorious! Thank You, Jesus! We will need to keep fighting to overturn the anti-God laws that have been passed in our nation and to stop the brainwashing of children in our schools. The fight against evil will not be over until Jesus comes back to rule on the earth.
