I Prayed have prayed
Father, do not let us live in fear. Help us to make no provision for the enemy to attack and give our nation wisdom and discernment.

Fear has gripped our nation.  It seems to be growing daily. With fierce determination, the media is working to make sure fear continues to run rampant.

This was what came to mind the day my little nine-year-old granddaughter got right up in my face.

“Bryson, grab some cat food, please,” I yelled across the aisle of the local Dollar General Store.

“But you don’t have a cat, Nana,” came his response.

“I know, but there is that stray you kids feed and it stands in my door and cries until I feed it,” I replied with exasperation.

At that moment, Brailee, walked up to me and pulled my face toward hers with her little hands.  With my face down to her level she looked me straight in the eye.  Once our eyes were locked, she loudly exclaimed, “Stop feeding it and it will go away!”

Powerful words from a little girl.  Powerful and true.  Stop feeding it and it will go away.

It reminds me of the old Cherokee teaching I have heard many times in life, it goes like this;

An old Cherokee, teaching his grandson about life, shared an important truth: “A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy. “It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil–he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.” The old Indian continued, “The other is good – he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you–and inside every other person, too.” The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: “Which wolf will win?” The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”

What we feed grows.  What we allow others to feed us with, grows as well.  For this reason, it is so important what we allow in our minds and our hearts.

Philippians 4:8 teaches us, Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

If we choose to spend our days listening to the news or battling with everyone’s opinion on social media, fear, hopelessness and unbelief will become a self-inflected part of our life.

The better choice would be to spend our days praying, listening to God and reading His word. Therein, faith in His faithfulness will be the dominate force in our life. It’s entirely up to us.

James 4:7 says, “Therefore, submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

The devil is not going to stop talking – through social media, news media and those who do not want to see the will of God fulfilled – it’s up to us, to silence the enemy in our own lives.

If we want the fear or hopelessness to go away, we only have to stop feeding it.  Or allowing it to be fed to us. Resist the devil and he will flee, just as God says.

We cannot afford to give the enemy any part of us, including our ear. It must stop now. Turn off the news media, take a break from social media, stop feeding the fear. Feed your faith instead.

Spend time in the word of God. Gather friends and pray about your city, your nation. Call and encourage others – pray with them. Firmly establish your mind on good things!  On what God is saying.  As you do, fear will flee and faith will increase.  It is a biblical truth; what we feed will grow.

I spend too much time reading and listening to things that are not God’s Word. The result: Fear, worry and stress. Forgive me, Lord.

Father God, your Word says that we become what we behold. 1 John 3:2 …But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. In this verse, we see a spiritual principle. When we gaze upon Christ, we see him for who he really is, and it is in seeing him that we become like him. We pray for the people of our nation to see Christ for who he really is. We pray you will unblind the minds of unbelievers so that they can see the light of the glory of the gospel of Christ. We pray that the people of this nation will not fret; for your word says that fretting leads to evil. I pray that even though we watch the news on TV, we would ultimately get our “news” from Heaven, especially when we are interceding. Many times I have seen something disturbing on TV only to remind myself that YOU are the only TRUTH. What we see as strongholds in our land are weak in your eyes, for nothing can withstand your penetrating gaze.

I agree we each choose whether to feed fear or hope but I don’t agree with completely stopping paying attention to the news. Yes, don’t let news reports or the chatter of others control you or make you obsess over negative things. I stopped listening to the news years ago because it was so repetitive and negative, and I’ve barely used social media.

This year, I was called to pay attention to the news and turn those news reports into intercessory prayer. That is what lead me to Intercessors for America. To fight this spiritual war, we need to recognize the evil one’s tactics and how humans are being manipulated and deceived. It is up to us as warriors of the LORD to speak life, hope, love, and truth against those lies. To do that, we need to be grounded in the Word. For me, that means I have started memorizing Scripture so that it permeates my mind, heart, and soul, starting with the armor of God in Ephesians chapter 6.

“Put on the full armor of God [for His precepts are like the splendid armor of a heavily-armed soldier], so that you may be able to [successfully] stand up against all the schemes and the strategies and the deceits of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this [present] darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) places.” ~ Ephesians 6:11-12 (Amplified Bible)

This timely, articulate message should go forth in bucket loads with the battery bunny leading the way so it just keeps going and going. I like the entire message that the evil empire of Darth Vader we’ve been fed for 30 years is Not going to win but will be blasted from the Universe by the Shield of Faith and the Sword of the Spirit.
Just hearing I’m walking alongside others who share the Life and Light of Jesus brightens my day! Hallelujah!Amen..
