I Prayed have prayed
Father, give us the courage to do what you have called us to do, even in the face of ridicule, persecution, and difficulty.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer (1906-1945) was a man who wrestled with the dichotomy between church and government. As an evangelical German pastor and theologian before World War II, he noticed the atrocities the Nazis were committing as they rose to power. When he was offered the opportunity to defy the Nazis and join the resistance, he again wrestled with the question of whether or not he should defy the government.

After agonizing over this question, Bonhoeffer came to the conclusion that, when the government commands people to sin, they ought to resist—and to obey God, rather than man. He became an active participant in the German resistance.

As the Scriptures tell us in Ecclesiastes 1:9, there is nothing new under the sun.

The decision Bonhoeffer made has come back again—but it has come to us who live in these United States of America, and indeed in every free nation around the world. At this crucial point in history, we must now decide:

  • Will we believe the narrative we are fed by unrighteous politicians and media? Or, will we stand up and think for ourselves?
  • Will we choose to discern the difference between righteous laws versus unrighteous laws? Or, will we falsely assume that God wants us to obey everything we are told to do, no matter what we are told to do and by whom we are told to do it?
  • When our choice comes down to obeying God versus obeying man, will we choose to stand up and obey God? Like Martin Luther, will we bravely and courageously stand before the councils of men and media, saying, “Here I stand, I can do no other”?

Every Christian faces this choice RIGHT NOW, and we must be prepared to make this choice wisely and well. We must also be prepared to defend our actions scripturally, for the Word of God is the only compass that can show us what righteous choices are.

Many people in this season will take Romans 13:1-3 out of context, using it as an excuse to actually disobey God. This passage says:

“Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same” (emphasis mine).

However, the context of this Scripture addresses rulers who are ruling for the sake of righteousness. When rulers are NOT ruling for the cause of what is right and holy, however, a different scriptural mandate applies. When rulers go against their God-given assignment to enforce good and terrorize evil, then we must resist those rulers instead of submitting to them.

As the Lord teaches us in Acts 5:26-29, using Peter and the apostles as an example:

Then the captain went with the officers and brought them without violence, for they feared the people, lest they should be stoned. And when they had brought them, they set them before the council. And the high priest asked them, saying, “Did we not strictly command you not to teach in this name? And look, you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this Man’s blood on us!” But Peter and the other apostles answered and said: “We ought to obey God rather than men.”

These are perilous times—and perilous times call for a level of discernment from the Lord that we who have lived freely and easily have never had to tap into before.

Therefore, in this season, we must ask the Lord for the same anointing that Dietrich Bonhoeffer had. Bonhoeffer had the ability and willingness to discern good from evil and holy from profane. Like him, we must also be courageous enough to stand up and resist unholy and unrighteous laws.

When we are told to murder babies, euthanize elderly people, cease assembling to worship, and otherwise disobey God, it is going to require courage:

  • To search the Scriptures in order to discern the truth of what we are being told;
  • To think for ourselves;
  • To stand against the mainstream narrative—even the politically correct narrative purported by many Christians;
  • To speak out and be loud about our dissension; and
  • To obey God rather than man.

Although every one of these choices will be difficult, we cannot claim to be disciples of Christ without being willing to stand in His name and obey His commands.

If you desire to stand with Christ no matter how dire the hour, pray this with me:

“Abba Father, in Jesus’ name, I thank You for the many years we have lived freely and easily. But now, Father, in the midst of perilous times, we need Your help to take on the challenge of standing for You even if everything in culture and government seems to go against us.

Father, I ask You first and foremost for courage. Please pour out Your supernatural anointing of courage upon me and upon all Christians in these United States. Let Your church rise up, Lord. Let us not be intimidated; but rather, let us be vocal about Your Word and Your name. Fill us with a holy boldness, that we may preach as we ought to preach.

Father God, please give each of us who love You the same anointing that Dietrich Bonhoeffer had to stand against unrighteousness.

Let Your truth thunder from our pulpits. Fill Your apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers with a Godly fear and determination to honor and obey You no matter what. Let every Christian everywhere decide to stand against unrighteousness, defend Your principles and Your truth, and defend our Constitutional rights.

Father, let us refuse to back down. Let us refuse to be herded into oblivion and silence. We claim Your promise that we will not lose even one inch of the territory we have taken for You, for Your Word says that of the increase of Your government and of peace there shall be no end.

Let Your church triumphant rise up, Lord, and be LOUD in this hour. Let us take more territory for You than we have ever taken before. Increase our influence for You. Increase Your Kingdom, even in this hour. And wake us up, Lord; open our eyes. Give us discernment, understanding, and wisdom to see as we ought to see and hear as we ought to hear in these times.

Thank You, Father. In Jesus’ mighty and precious name, amen.”

(and so many other followers of Christ have) by obeying God rather than man, share with us your thoughts below.

But all must be done with and in love. Lord never let me do or say anything in your name that is not really from you!!!! Help me to hate sin but NEVER the sinner. Help us to be “as wise as serpents, and as harmless as doves ” Mathew 10:16

It is sad to see pastors and those in the church lose their voice and give in to state leaders tell us how we can worship! I pray the Lord will help me to pray for my pastor and leadership who think we need to do everything we are told. Lord, help me, I have lost respect for them and need your wisdom to know how to pray for them and keep the right attitude and Christ-likeness.

Make me willing Lord. My extended family and some of immediate family hate my biblical faith and we were raised nominally religious even attending church school.

Father, most of your children in America, especially me, have deceived ourselves into living a religious life that says if we go to church, read our Bibles and act nice, we are obeying You. Forgive me and most of Your Church for not obeying your command to win the lost and make disciples. Forgive us for not obeying your COMMAND to pray for kings and all who are in authority so that we may lead a quiet life in all godliness. Now the time has come when we are not free to lead a quiet life in all godliness. Many are being attacked and their businesses destroyed, and we are forbidden to assemble as believers. Holy Spirit, convict our hearts that we might repent and be the Church You want us to be.

I appreciate this article! The church, being commanded not to meet is a violation of Hebrews 10:25. The church, then by default is then not a House of Prayer, which Jesus mandates. And each believer, by not meeting loses the strengthening, encouraging, equipping and edifying as each part does its share and only can be done face to face. That is why many in and out of church are being tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine. Once religious freedoms are removed every other freedom will be take as witnessed in previous histories in the east. There is mandatory surveillance encroaching, and the erasing of medical freedoms with required injections for all, possibly starting in travel, schooling and jobs, restriction of family size, climate change requiring sustainable development, removal of cars, coffin apartments, AI, universal income, all the other ways they poison us, and other obliterations of God’s holy law such as offerings to Moloch. Praise God, I am in an underground and very powerful and blessed church.

I’m interested in learning more about a church like this. The church needs the power of God in these perilous times.

Emylie, We must obey God, rather than men, said Peter in Acts 5:29. I’ve never been more convinced of this than I am right now. The church is weak and unable to address the pains, anxieties, spiritual warfare, and rebellion of these days, because the church is too busy dotting its i’s and crossing their t’s for the government’s intrusion and overreach of our fundamental rights to worship. It would appear that we, in America are being set up for a regime change, where God is powerless and unacknowledged. Chief Justice John Roberts last week just admitted that the freedom to worship has now fallen under the purview of the “medical” authorities and somehow is not part of our 1st amendment rights. He sided with the lawless liberals on the bench and is rewriting law. 1) There is a creator God. 2) Our rights come from Him. 3) The purpose of civil government is to protect and defend God-given rights. I am convinced that a church that is a 501c3 is and will be beholden to a capricious and arbitrary government. More and more evidence is coming out the “disease” that they have been fear-mongering is a hoax. A German scientist whistleblower just recently produced a 93 page report showing this to be true. 600 doctors have approached Trump with this same conclusion. Of course the complicit media would not tell you this. Why would we be listening to a bureaucrat that has been part of NIH for 35 years, with patents on vaccines and test kits, and making 100’s of thousands of dollars? We know unelected officials in power tend to be corrupted with more and more power. Nevertheless, God is our protector, shield, defender. Are we going to trust Him or not? This church we are attending is not a 501c3 and is not worshipping in fear. I feel so blessed to have been led to it. As Mario Murillo just recently said, ” We need fire in the churches, not in the streets.”
      Blessings to you!

I have long been a Dietrich Bonhoeffer fan. His writing, “The Cost of Discipleship” is a treatise for a follower of Jesus. He is a true hero of the faith. His classic “Not to stand is to stand, not to speak is to speak” is more relevant than ever. Eric Metaxas wrote a stirring story of this man that everyone should read “Bonhoeffer Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy” that everyone needs to read in this time if you question whether or not to stand. Acts 4:29, 30 And now, Lord, observe their threats and grant to Your bond servants full freedom to declare Your message fearlessly, while You stretch out Your hand to perform signs and wonders through the authority and by the power of the name of Your holy Child and Servant Jesus.” Amplified Bible As if this was written for us today.

I am also began studying about Dietrich Bonhoeffer recently. He lived in a time period eerily similar to ours- the Weimar Republic in Germany 1919-1933. This time period was characterized by Jewish leadersip in every area of society. The Jews comprised many of the positions in banking and controlled many businesses. See how many Jews are CEOs in America. I am not being anti-Semitic.The Jews also endorsed abortion and homosexuality. Examine who is funding the abortion industry and the Democrat Party. The Nazi’s initially deceived German Christians because they rallied against abortion and homosexuality, even raiding bookstores destroying sexually explicit materials. The Nazi movement began with sweeping ultra-right nationalism which should serve as a caution as we wave our Trump banners. Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s book The Cost of Discipleship discusses Cheap Grace. Cheap Grace was his term for preaching grace without repentance. Have any of you read Celebrate Recovery materials? We are applying band-aids on our wounded. Jer. 6:14, 811 When was the last time you heard “repentance “ or “sin” mentioned in your church? As intercessors we must understand the answers to our nation’s issues are not in the political process. We need to humble ourselves with fasting and pray the word. Acts 4:29 grant your servants the boldness to speak your word. Today is Pentecost. Oh Lord pour out your Holy Spirit afresh. Pray for our Jewish brothers and sisters that they would receive the love of the truth 2 Thes. 2:10,11 that they would be saved. Oh Lord lift this strong delusion that has settled over our nation so that we would no longer take pleasure in unrighteousness.

This is what I have been seeking. I’m sick of watered down feel good 3 point sermons. I want to be taught meat from our pulpits. Sermons that turn us from mice into lions. Churches that teach the Bible again. Churches that disciple young believers. We need to return to First Generation practices again. Please Lord, wake us up!!!

OMG!!! It Is 5:17 a.m. in This Part Of North Carolina and The Lord Stirred Me out Of A Sound Sleep. Trust Me Getting Olded So m.j Times One Sleepe Soundly and Then Again Sleep Evades One. However, I was Supposed to Minister To A Young Lady, that I Allowed To get in front of Me In The Grocery Store. By The Way Saints, Let’s Called These out Ragious Prices Down In The Name Of Jesus and Gas, etc..We’re Supposed To Be Guiding This Ship. Anyway.I Felt The Nudge Then and Even When I Left to Put The Groceries 8nto My Car.She Saw Me And Wave Because I had Given Her A Sunflower and told Her Not To Allow Her Boyfriend To keep putting Her Down. If She Didn’t Demand That He Respect Her and She To Think She Deserved Better Than He Wouldn’t.
I Felt The Urge Again to Witness and Would Not!!!
As I Pondered The Why I Wouldn’t Stand Up And Go Forth, I Was Reminded Of An Encounter I Had With A demon pocessed Young Man, Calling Me All Kinds Of Filthy Names and Threatening Me, Just Because I Spoke To His Girlfriend, That He At That Time Belittling. I Only Asked Her If She Was O.K. cause She Was Crying So Sad…Boy Was It A Show Down.I Ended Up Threatening to Cast Those Devils Outta Him ,While “They Cased Me” Like A Wild Animal sizing Up Its Prey!!! He Never Came Close Enough To Touch Him.But I Know Those Spirits of evil Didn’t want To leave any more Than, They wanted To Be Casted Out From Those Pigs..I ended up Calling The Police and Later That Unholy hoards Sent The Police After Me . I was pulled over Because of The Color of My Skin and Driving A Benz.#WOW!!!#REALLYDEVIL…So I Didn’t realize it had effected Me To That extreme So I Didn’t approach, Them Much,Like The People who saw The Police Kill a Unarmed man and Did Nothing.Presidentical Candidates Saw These Crimes Against Humanity as Did Most Christian’s And Did Nothing.
So I Repent Father God, I Repent Jesus and Holy Spirit..Forgive Me..Give Me From The Moment A Holy Boldness as Never Before, That I Will Never Comprimise Again. Those Young Folks Had A Right To Be Introduced to You As I was So Many Years Ago.
I Won’t By The Holy Spirit Fail You Again.
Thanks For Allowing Me To Respond to This Urgent Call.

HAVING DONE ALL TO STAND, THEREFORE STAND,(Eph. 6:13) remembering that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. (Eph. 6:12). We are the “called out” ones, His body,
His church. We are to be salt and light; Jesus is called the Light of the World, it is written as He is so are we in the earth. We are here to bring heaven to earth — just like Jesus did. It is time for the Church to wake up and respond to what Father God is calling us to do on earth – to be truth and light in a dark world. Just like Joshua we are told to be strong and courageous, and fight the good fight of faith, wherever it takes us. WE cannot afford to be quiet any longer, we must open our hearts, our mouths, our pocketbooks, and allow Holy Spirit to guide and direct us during this new season, for His will to be done on earth as it is in
heaven.

Heavenly FAther, in Jesus’ precious Name, I am so grateful you have raised up IFA, and for all the Saints
who have gone before us like Bonhoffer, and like the folks who have shared their prayers below. I pray for your grace and mercy to be poured out on all your people around the world spiritually, physically, mentally, psychologically suited in your armor ready to do whatever you lead each of us to do in the ongoing battle.
As we remember your promises, we can be assured that if we have faith as small as a mustard seed, God can use that to make a difference. His WORD never returns void. We all matter young, middle aged, old. God can use all of us, and does sometimes even when we don’t know it. Thank you, Triune God for loving us so.

Thank you Fonda for being brave enough to mention the ‘deep state’. Because the media refuses to print the truth about what is actually taking place here in America (and in other countries), an enormous percentage of Americans have no concept of the horrible ungodly actions that have been, and are currently, taking place. I pray constantly that their ‘eyes’ would be opened and that the Lord would lead them on a path to being able to see and know and understand the Truth.

Wearing a mask (or not) and staying home (or not) are not sins against God. But there is a line that is being crossed by many Governors and others in authority. The request for us to be reasonable and work together to defeat Covid-19 has now been replaced with demands and threats that have definitely crossed the line and are virtually taking away our rights and freedoms! We need to stand against this now before they think they can cross that line even further! My heart absolutely breaks when I hear about a child being taken away from his parents because he has the virus. If he doesn’t need to be hospitalized, let him be cared for at home by those who love him. Arresting a parent for playing with their toddler in a park when no one else is around is completely unreasonable in my opinion. Many, but not all, of the law enforcement officers are literally terrorizing people. Isn’t their job to serve and protect? If now isn’t the time for us to stand up against this tyranny, then who and when? 2020 is the ‘year of the voice’. We can’t allow the enemy to silence us!

The media is also preventing many people from seeing the incredible things the Lord is doing, not just here in America, but also in many other countries around the world. He is currently exposing the dark sinister things that are taking place, and that have been hidden, in addition to exposing those who are involved. And I believe the Lord has given our awesome President Trump the responsibility of fighting against this evil for America and assisting the righteous leaders in other countries. But he needs us to stand up with him and refuse to back down. We need to pray daily for the President and everyone in his family and administration who are working with him to accomplish God’s will. Not just for their protection, but also praying that the Lord would give them supernatural wisdom and knowledge in this battle against evil.

If there is anyone reading my comments and wondering what on earth I am talking about, please ask God to show you what is really going on and what He and His children are doing about it. Then I strongly recommend that you search for another media source that isn’t biased. It may not be easy, but there are some sources out there who do print the truth. And remember, “the Truth shall set you free”.

I agree with the majority of your thoughts here. However, I need help in understanding how Godly people can stand behind Donald Trump. I am truly asking I am not judging or criticizing. I hear this man call people names, discuss sexual behaviors with others regarding women outside of his marriage and lie. I am familiar with the deep state and I agree that abortion is wrong and euthanasia is wrong and that the media is mostly leftist and liberal. However, I simply cannot support a man who has behaved in an atrocious narcissist manner by literally acting in an ungodly manner. We teach children not to bully and call names and yet he does this repeatedly. He has had extra martial affairs and is extremely egotistical. How is this godly behavior? It just is not. Finally, I am not referring to what the media has claimed about him, I am talking about what I have heard him say and read what he has written. How is it that this behavior is ok with those of us who follow Jesus? How is it that Donald Trump is following God’s greatest law of love one another and He has loved us? I do not see it-even if his policies are Godly, he is a horrible example of Christianity. It’s people like him who turn others away from God and Christianity.

Again, to clarify I am truly and only trying to understand how so many Christians see this man as a Godly leader. I am not criticizing.

      D.R. Warring
      May 29, 2020

Sister Gina, I don’t believe they see him as a godly leader but discern by the Holy Spirit and in their fervent prayer time that Pres Trump is the one God chose to lead this nation now. There is a huge difference between those two things. I don’t see him as the most godly and holy believer person but as the one whom God chose for such a time as this. We are all works in progress, and I believe God chose him because we need tough and justice right now, and most Christians are too nice and worried about offending to accomplish what God wants done in this nation as we have prayed and cried out for justice according to Psalm 37, etc.

Remember Jesus’ words to the Pharisees etc.? He Himself called them “White washed tombs, hypocrites, He got a whip and overturned tables in the temple for turning His Father’s house into a den of thieves, He called the disciples dull for not understanding His repeated teachings and demonstrations, etc.”

Moses was also a murderer, as was David yet God’s choices. Every leader or prophet God chose in the Word was highly flawed and sinned greatly, didn’t have “neat and pretty” pasts. But neither do any of us.

The Word of God says man looks on the outward appearance BUT God looks on the heart. Pres Trump’s words may not always be the best, but how about ours? None of us are perfect. God is looking at his heart not his imperfections.

Gossip is evil in God’s eyes yet many pastor’s wives do it and allow cliques in their churches that exclude some women. We could go on and on and fill a book with the evil done by church leadership today. e.g. Not doing James 1:27 and visiting widows and fatherless in their afflictions, etc.

So that’s the difference. It’s not that most are seeing Pres Trump as “godly” but as whom God has chosen to lead us now.

We must not limit how one is packaged (outwardly) as not usable by God. God can use whomever He wants. God sees the big picture and ALL He’s protecting us from like why border control and immigration is important. It must also be obvious to us that the President knows far more than us about all that is coming into our country illegally and its effects than we do. Isn’t is foolish for us to believe we know more than the president who knows top secret information about why he’s so fierce about immigration policies? God used Nehemiah to rebuild the wall in Jerusalem, and Nehemiah had to go trough an ungodly king at the time to get favor and help for him to do so. So Nehemiah’s obedience to God at that time was to rebuild the wall to protect Jerusalem. Which I believe is how the Lord is leading Trump. Not racist. Wisdom from God.

This is not a criticism of you at all but an answer to your question. I pray the Holy Spirit speaks to you about this. We must be very discerning who we are listening to and not let man influence us about Pres Trump but God alone through your prayer time with Him. That is how I came to these conclusions. I shut out all other voices and sought the Lord myself on the matter. Said in love from a sister in the Lord.

Thank you so much D.R. Warring for this incredible reply to Gina! You are so spot on and I’m sure I couldn’t have come up with a better reply! In 2016 I wasn’t happy with the presidential options but I asked the Lord to show me who He wanted me to vote for. He put me on a path that has continued until this day! President Trump was the man he had chosen for this time. He had the qualifications that God was looking for and the problem areas could be straightened out along the way. In addition to praying for our President, I am constantly thanking the Lord for giving us someone who loves this Country and its citizens so much. We are truly blessed to have Donald Trump as our President!

Diana, I am grateful for your response to my question as well! I appreciate your honesty about not being happy with either option in 2016. I could not agree more but I, too like you voted the way I felt God led me. It is comforting for me to know I was not alone in that! Thank you again!

Thank you for such a detailed and thorough response to my question. I am grateful for your kindhearted tone in you answer as well. :o) May I ask a follow up? Do you believe that God chose President Obama at the time he was our leader?

          D.R. Warring
          June 7, 2020

No, I believe Obama was of the anti-Christ spirit for many reasons and it was more like when God’s people rejected Him as King over them and wanted Saul to have a human king over them just like all the other nations.

The evidence is that he, Obama, was loved by many and the media (which is evil overall), and the Word says we will be hated for His sake – President Trump is very hated by the media and even some of God’s own people who constantly gossip about him and slander him.

Then there were many magazine covers and stories about Obama that referred to him as the messiah, that he was the second coming, that he was the god of all things, and many more. Again, evidence of him being from an anti-Christ spirit.

I premise what I say here with, racism is 100% of the devil and is caused by a lack of knowing God and His Word and by demonic strongholds that cause blindness to God’s truth and can even affect people who call themselves Christians – but maybe they are only Christian by name. No true believer who knows the Word of God and is led by the Spirit can be racist. We are LITERALLY all descended from the same family and come in many different beautiful shades. There is no pure race. Anyone who thinks so needs deliverance from demonic strongholds and/or needs to open their bible and read it.

Having said that, another reason I believe Obama’s presidency was born from God allowing our free will rebellious ways just like Saul being made king (a good one to read), is basically everything surrounding him being elected and what people said about him even in the church. E.g. Many of my sisters in the Lord who happened to be black voted for Obama even knowing he was in bed with the murderous Planned Parenthood (PP) which was born from the heart of a wicked woman, Margaret Sanger, who hated black people and all minorities, and whose goal was to use PP to murder minority babies to control their numbers. My dear black sisters in Christ were hypnotized by Obama and in awe of him to an unhealthy idolatrize level. They, from their own mouths, wanted someone as president who had the same color of skin as them so badly they didn’t care about the slaughtering of the unborn. They made an idol of their skin color, just a shade to God, before what was right in God’s sight according to His Word and some even tried to reason away Obama’s very pro-abortion stance. Responding to this reminds me of how heartbroken I was about my sisters in Christ who didn’t think about the unborn when voting.

Putting anything but God as our identity can become an idol. Like skin color and culture. So I prayerfully came to this conclusion about Obama years ago because of discerning what was going on surrounding him and his election. Obama hated our country and was and still us being used by satan to try to destroy it.

My son is multiethnic and so am I. But I never make my ethnicity my identity in any way nor pay much attention to it because my entire identity is in Christ. And we are all to be one in Him. And knowing the Word teaches us the foolishness of racism as we are all related distantly but as fact.

So again, read about Saul when the people rejected God and he let them have their free will way in that situation.

Trump came about as a result of “if my people” will pray and many crying out to the Lord seeing how badly Obama wanted to destroy this country. If we cry out THEN, God moves. God only works through our prayers – His will be done on earth as it is in heaven prayers. Many fasted and prayed for Trump to win. E.g. The Trump Prophecy, etc. and that’s why we have President Trump now.

Seek the Lord about what I said. Listen to God not man. Search out the matter for yourself. God bless you sister. Keep praying for our nation, the church, and our president.

D.R. Warring has written a reply to you that is so spot on that I don’t have much to add to it. I guess the bottom line for me is that as a Child of God I want to be faithful and obedient to Him. If God has chosen Donald Trump to be our President for such a time as this, who am I to argue with Him? I simply say, “Yes Lord.” It is our love for God and trust in the person He chose to run this Country, that makes standing with our President not just important, but a true pleasure. After 4 years of seeing God solve impossible situations through our President, my faith and trust in God and President Trump have become so much stronger. I no longer worry about situations that come up because I know that God has a plan and President Trump is doing everything that he can to accomplish that plan for the Lord.

We must remember that God, as we read in the Old Testament, delivered the Israelites over to their enemies (i.e., Assyria, Babylon, Egypt) on many occasions due to their wickedness and failure to honor Him and keep His commands. Daniel honored God even while serving the ruler of Babylon, King Nebuchadnezzar. Daniel refused to defile himself, and the others with him, by partaking of the royal food and wine. The result was that God upheld him. Daniel served the king honorably without forsaking God. He spoke to the king with “wisdom and tact.” We know that even in the lion’s den, Daniel was protected because of the way that he comported himself in his duties and relationship with the ruler. He always honored God.

Consider that over the years of our lifetime, the church has become fractured with unbelief and worldly thinking. When I was outraged by the horror of what has been passed by states regarding abortion in the last two years, Holy Spirit chastised me, asking where I was from the beginning of the abortion legal issue. Our silence as the church has been destructive. While some Christians did protest and still do, some of us have looked the other way, not realizing the power we have given to the enemy to destroy what God has blessed – life!

Now we are in a position of deciding how to proceed. We must be careful to seek Holy Spirit’s guidance and look at God’s Word in its entirety, without taking it out of context. But we also must ask ourselves if we are justified in our behavior – in how we walk it out. Daniel was trustworthy, humble, yet also bold in his stand for righteousness. Therefore, he honored God in all he said and did. This is a daily, sometimes moment by moment, challenge as we seek to finish the race well.

I am so very blessed by and grateful for this article. It spoke to me on a very deep level and I am so glad to be reminded about Dietrich Bonhoeffer. God has placed me in leadership in my community and I choose to receive this anointing and be an even louder and stronger voice for Truth and Righteousness. May God use everyone one of us to speak boldly, fight righteously and submit whole heartedly to the ways of our glorious Savior, Jesus Christ.

1JO 2:20 But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you all know.

1JO 2:21 I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it, and because no lie is of the truth.

1JO 2:22 Who is the liar but the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son.

1JO 2:23 Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father; the one who confesses the Son has the Father also.

1JO 2:24 As for you, let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father.

1JO 2:25 This is the promise which He Himself made to us: eternal life.

1JO 2:26 These things I have written to you concerning those who are trying to deceive you.

1JO 2:27 As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him.

1JO 2:28 Now, little children, abide in Him, so that when He appears, we may have confidence and not shrink away from Him in shame at His coming.

1JO 2:29 If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone also who practices righteousness is born of Him.

Prayer is the most powerful thing that you can do. You need to stand for your generation. The Bible says when you have all you can do to stand, stand therefore. Write to your senators and representatives and let them know where you stand on issues and how they are spending tax payers dollars for horrific things. Call out the evil in your area. Inspire young people that God will not leave them no matter how old they are. Encourage your generation to get out and vote and make an appearance so they know that we are watching. Thank you for sharing. so very inspirational.

There needs to be a unity within the individual churches and within the churches as a whole joining together as the LORD leads to work efficiently within communities and cities helping the people who have lost so much and have given themselves to the LORD as well as everyone else that has been displaced in one way or the other, they (the churches) need to stop complaining about who believes what out of the Bible and accept the fact that they all believe in the Lord Almighty God that JESUS CHRIST came to take our sins away to die on the cross rise from the dead and ascend into heaven, then they (the churches) should join together and serve the LORD in the capacity that He gave them fighting for the good of the LORD.

Theocracy: Every government is predicated on precepts that reflect their world view, which by definition is a religious foundation::
Merriam-Webster: re·li·gion /rəˈlijən/ noun
1. a pursuit or interest to which someone ascribes supreme importance.
The USA government is predicated on Old Testament laws, tempered with the New Testament principles of Jesus! After Reagan’s term in office, their was a divergence from a Jesus centered Theocracy to a man centered official government approved religion called Humanism, followed by a further divaricating into the religion of Atheism, Socialism, homosexuaIism, with a segue into “gaia” mother earth worship, and even Mid Eastern religion. However Jesus being the foundation of our “Constitutional Republic” & even the “Federalist Papers,” we must return to our original theocracy, where the government/state is divided from the 1st Amendment power of the church [the real Thomas Jefferson of division of Church & State]. A return to a government centered in the creator of the universe, who is Jesus, the highest form of governing in the world [far above all others], which made America the number one economy on the earth, that is until the religion of Humanism eclipsed it, and we began the downward cycle of entropy, fast becoming 3rd world county. Now we have an apostle in the white house and a hope [a spiritual excitement and expectation of greatness again] of returning to Jesus as a nation.
Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious People. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other. From John Adams to Massachusetts Militia, 11 October 1798
The general principles on which the fathers achieved independence were the general principles of Christianity. I will avow that I then believed, and now believe, that those general principles of Christianity are as eternal and immutable as the existence and attributes of God.1 John Adams

The Word to me in 1970, “you must be born again”! McCormack Place, Chicago, Illinois, Billy Graham Crusade. I accepted Jesus in 1971-2, finally the Hound of Heaven was off my back! But Lordship was a foreign concept to me, as was Discipleship, The Daily Cross, Covenant, and the whole package.

In 1977, “living the good life” and once in Sunday didn’t cut it. The Hound of Heaven & Satan were in hand-to-hand combat and I was the battleground. I became desperate. I did not know it, but I had barely entered the front door of the Christian Life Jesus died for, He wanted my who life, surrendered! Lordship “come out with your hands up”!

There were ‘pigs in the parlor’ that had to be swept out. Ruthless Repentance was the only way. What do you know? Jesus meant every word He says. Surrendered to Hus loving ways, in time, Jesus will introduce us to His Father! Then the He Do – We Do takes hold, we are no longer our own. There we discover that the Holy Spirit will lead us into All Truth!

My wife and I Covenanted with other believers in 1979. Since, together with like minded followers of Jesus, we have followed the Cloud by Day and the pillar of Fire by night. We have cut or teeth in Billy Graham, Dietrich Bonnhoeffer, Corrie Ten Boom, Basilea Schink, Derek Prince, William Law, Elizabeth Elliot, Bill Mills, Francis Frangipane, Luis Palau,
Tony Evans, and others. “Cutting Teeth”, the operative Word. We left our former lives to follow Jesus, we counted the cost then, and many times since. The Cross is active, separating our thoughts and His. So, we cut our teeth early on meat, and have been chewing meat ever since.

What are you chewing on in these days? Especially since you are in a Sabbath Rest Sabbatical? How will you emerge? Do you know what spirit you are of? Are you ready to tell the Truth in Love at all costs? Or do you knee jerk, calling lightning down from heaven because someone said “NO ” to your selfish pursuits?

God is going deep at this time. He will never share His Glory with another. Idolatry in the Church must go! We must be miserable, mourn, and weep! Storming the gates of Heaven. Eternity is at stake! When the Lord returns, will He find Faith in the earth? Why do you suppose Jesus asked that? What did He know that we don’t know?

I am 100% on board with, “when the government commands people to sin, they ought to resist—and to obey God, rather than man.” I most heartily Amen this position. But can we really compare our present circumstances to Nazi Germany (???) and is indignation against our government as justified as Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s? Really???

Perhaps we need to take a breath and let God define sin for us? We haven’t been ordered not to preach Christ and we haven’t been ordered not to teach God’s Word to those who wish to be taught. We’ve not been asked to deny Christ. We’ve not been asked to condone murder–except the murder of the unborn and just born–now, there’s a serious sin to refuse to be compliant with!

I don’t like the shut down any more than anyone else does but please explain how exactly has our government required us to sin against God? Is it *sin* to comply with a government imposed quarantine during a global pandemic…or even after the danger has passed? Is it *an atrocity* we should rise up against as Bonhoffer did when a government requires citizens to wear a mask during or even for a time following a quarantine–even if the global pandemic was all an elaborate Globilist lie? As wrong and as unpleasant as it is to suffer hardship–even loss of income–is it *sin* against God to suffer such loss? If it is sin for me to suffer these things against God–and not with gnashing teeth and raised fist but to suffer in a God-honoring way, i.e. humbling myself and praying first of all for those in authority, going through the proper legal channels of government to voice protest and bring relief–I beg someone to please show me where God has clearly stated His instruction that His people are not to tolerate such treatment from the ruling governmentand that for us to do so is sin against Him. ???

Because I’ve searched the Scripture just as carefully as I know how and I’m just not finding anything telling me I am sinning against Him unless I refuse to submit to a government that I disagree with and dislike. I’ve studied Scripture for over 40 years and I’ve taught inductive Bible study for Bible for over 30 years; I understand context and I know how cherry-picking verses isolated from context and from the full body of truth in God’s Word results in a pretext for something God has not, does not, and will not say. I know how to determine the full council of God’s Word by gathering all that God has to say on a matter–within His stated context– before presuming to know what God has said and what He means by what He has said. Those who distort the Scripture do so to their own destruction.

By His Spirit God speaks to us through His Word in instruction, in exhortation, in warning, and in examples. Israel was not self-governing from 605 right on through the N.T. times. Babylon, Media-Persia, Greece, and Rome, were all ruthless heathen governments ruling over Israel until the dispersion. Perhaps someone can show me how Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego, Mordecai, Esther, Nehemiah, Ezra, yes, and our Lord Jesus Christ and Peter and John and Paul and all the saints spot-lighted as Biblical examples rose up in protest against their governing authorities regarding matters unrelated to their worship and service to God? Neither in loss of their “civil” liberty nor the preservation of their very lives did they ever rise up in revolt against a government. 1 Peter tells us we are blessed when we suffer unjustly, entrusting our souls to a faithful Creator in doing that which right. Slaves submit to masters, not only the good ones but to the ones that unreasonable and rotten to the core. The Hebrew letter was written during a time of genuine persecution, not inciting revolt but exhorting the saints to endure and commending those who had endured sufferings, been made public spectacles, who had joyfully accepted the seizure of their property knowing they have a better and abiding possession. Not even the extra-Biblical historical Maccabean revolt was because God’s people were suffering personal losses or commanded to disrupt their personal pursuits, but because abomination against God was happening in the temple of God.

Yes–our hearts need to be resolutely set, as Daniel’s heart was set, not to defile ourselves if required to do so by governing authorities. But I am just not seeing how our government–as corrupt as it is, as determined as it is to make life miserable to oust President Trump, to subject us to socialism or whatever other evil purposes– I am just not seeing how our government has commanded anyone to defile themselves. How is revolt against wearing a mask justified as refusing to sin against God, pray tell?

I agree. This is not Nazi Germany, and the comparison stirs up strife. The restrictions imposed are controversial and some goverment leaders have overstepped but no one is being told they cannot serve God. You make many valid points in your post and i value the opportunity as your sister to differ with and still RESPECT your point of view regarding whether current alarm in on the level of Bonhoeffer’s. I would say that it is never too early to guard–to steward–GOD’s gift of a constitutional republic. Because we are GOD-created Light-bearing stewards of dominion, each of us has the privilege as well as the responsibility to cause continuation of GOD’s government’s increase. Yes, that increase first and foremost is through personal application, surrender to and growth in GOD’s plan of and purpose for redemption. Furthermore, it affects our culture as we, the unified body of Christ, manifest and thereby model transformation which is available to a person who is indwelt and empowered by Holy Spirit. Through His fruit we are able to bring love and hope to our friends, neighbors and other community members. As Proverbs 29:2 states: When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn. We, as parents, also have the responsibility, again GOD-ordained, to train and protect our children in and through the Word, ways, wisdom and will of GOD, setting them on paths that lead them to mature as responsible, civically-minded, compassionate citizens in a society that has received as a gift from GOD a constitutional republic that cherishes freedom, obtained through great sacrifice. When individuals have exceeded the boundaries of Constitutional mandates, and fear and divisiveness have been artificially engendered and escalated, it is the responsibility of the governed to guard against anarchy, if the moment has not already passed.. Right now, our nation is at risk and it is the responsibility of the UNIFIED body of Christ to stop focusing on the temporal, to focus on the Presence of GOD, the potential of each believer in and through Him and let the world see His LOVE, through our SACRIFICE, our boldness and our courage. We need to stand for righteousness and ensure that we continue to call what is evil, evil and what is good, GOOD. We may choose to disagree but let us lift our focus to GOD’s heart, listen to His directives and join OUR hearts as ONE body to see His Kingdom advance and His Son’s glory SHINE.

As I read this article and these Words from God, I felt encouraged bc I will admit, in all of this there have been times I have felt like and island with no inhabitants. I have asked myself if I would/do have the courage to stand up for what God says for me to do even if I am alone. I have SINCERELY PRAYED for the courage and to act in a Godly manner through God’s Word and to OBEY God’s Word. Thank You for giving me guidance and encouragement through this time of unrest in our beloved country! You have given me a “hard copy” to my thoughts and beliefs and prayers and placed them “in order”. God revealed to me the Elijah prayer and the power of God about to be revealed again and for the same reason.
1 Kings 18: 21
“How long will you waver between 2 opinions? If The Lord is God follow Him: but if baal is god follow him” But the people said nothing. (The same command and response today.)
1 Kings 18:37, 39
“Answer me Oh Lord, answer me so these people will know that you, Oh Lord are God, and that You are turning their hearts back again.”
39 When all the people saw this, they fell prostrate and cried, ” The Lord–He is God! The Lord — He is God!”
He is doing everything to turn a people that are clueless about who He is into a people that will shout “The Lord–He Is God!”

Things believers endured: “Others were tormented, not accepting deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection. Still others had trial of mockings and scourgings, yes, and of chains and imprisonment. They were stoned, they were sawn in two, were tempted, were slain with the sword. They wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, tormented-of whom the world was not worthy. They wandered in deserts and mountains, in dens and caves of the earth. And all these, having obtained a good testimony through faith, did not receive the promise, God having provided something better for us, that they should not be made perfect apart from us.” (Hebrews 11:35-40). “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.” (2 Corinthians 4:16-18). “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” (Romans 8:18). “Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.” (2 Timothy 3:12). Really, is the Church in America suffering persecution or are we being inconvenienced for a season? Christians in other countries, who don’t have the freedom we have, are dying daily for their faith in Jesus. They cannot even pray in their homes, much less assemble. Father God, help us to realize that it is All ABOUT YOU!!!

It is a time for true repentance. We need God and the saving grace of Jesus back in this Nation. May there be a turning of the people to seek God with their whole mind, body and soul. The truth must prevail. God is in control! May our Nations leaders seek the wisdom of God and walk in truth and integrity. May all people walk in love and kindness having compassion for others. I pray that we are blessed with wisdom and patience as the Holy Spirit moves across this Nation!

I pray for discernment. As our churches begin to open I see the offense of dictatorship. Each of us has a unique role in these times. Still together we make a difference.
We see Mr Bonhoeffer did not stand alone but joined together and brought his gifting for a stronger body. Perilous times means there are dangers. The Holy Spirit knows our every future moment. Listen carefully as He leads. Jesus’s prayer before being taken to be crucified was that the Father would be glorified. He prayed in John 17:15 not that His disciples would be taken out of the world but that they would be kept from the evil.
When fear begins to come in we must do as Jesus did, lift our eyes to the Lord. Stephen as he was being stoned, lifted his eyes and beheld Him standing…
Perilous times…. let us lift our eyes to Him, standing together to glorify His name. For such a time as these we are called.

The moment we became Christians we entered the war, spiritually. We are now prepared for the actual war. We stand on the solid rock of Jesus Christ and shall NOT be moved. We must understand that we MUST be willing to die for the gospel if and perhaps when it comes to that. We must be bold as a lion and roar in prayer, praying with expectation for if we do not expect anything we will not get anything. We are one in the Spirit and one in the Lord. Stand in faith, be bold, be courageous for the Lord our God is with us, we shall NOT fail.

That was Jesus’ prayer in John 17(21) “…that all of them may be one, Father, just as You are in me and I am in You…” The entire prayer is for us. I am so grateful that we can put aside our differences and be one in The Father and The Son.

I have been praying and working to urge pastors I know to take a stand in these times. If they refuse, yet will I stand. When I left my beloved church last Sunday, the Holy Spirit said, “You can’t go back.” So be it. In Christ we triumph!

Yes, I prayed this prayer and do want discernment to know where to stand. I am out raged at the loss of freedom we have acccepted, especially in light of the founding of this nation and the sacrifices that have been made that we might be godly and serve our Lord in spirit and in truth. Let stand for our Lord be clear and may we fight the good fight in this hour. Let God arise and his enemies be scattered!

Oh Lord, here are prayer, equip Your Church to stand firm and to speak boldly just as Peter and Paul did. Set Your Church on fire with the Holy Spirit taking Your Truth to many who are seeking! Gather Your own and grant us courage and confidence, discernment and grace! Forgive us of our sins and strengthen our passion for You. Let Christ reign over us as we prepare to join Him in the sky! Maranatha, Come Lord Jesus, Come! In Your Name I pray!

Thank you for this information and scriptures to help with discernment. Especially for those who believe we should just listen to authority regardless of the word. If that was the case, we would not be living in the U.S. I was part of a resistance in MA without realizing this. Only 1 church in MA stood up against Gov Baker and I attended worship not knowing if we would be arrested. Praise Jesus we were not arrested but shined a light on the subject so that Baker allowed places of worship to open in the first phase of openings. God Bless Lastor Casey and Adams Square Church in Worcester MA for standing up against the tierany of many! In Jesus name Amen!

What a timely prayer for me, as I just finished reading Bonhoeffer yesterday. I was not totally comfortable with his decision and was still mulling over the question. I had not decided what I would believe to be the right way. I kept going back to “our weapons are not carnal,” and was leaning toward prayer only. You greatly helped me understand. Thank you. I prayed the prayer. Blessings.

Father, give us all the strength to stand up and be counted and use us to bring Truth into our families, neighborhoods, communities and the world as You guide us by your Spirit.
Thank You Lord for every opportunity to serve You.
Amen and amen.

Yes! I agree in the mighty name of Jesus! Give us the courage to stand up in the face of this tyrannical deep state government. Give trump the ability to rise up and break it as we come alongside him and show him that we are the church and we are standing up and standing with you God to do what is right!

I know it is no coincidence that I was stirred to read Bonhoeffer by Eric Metaxas just a few months before the shutdown. It was eery to read about what happened then, while sensing we would be facing similar things here in America. Dietrich Bonhoeffer came to love Jesus more than anything or anyone; sacrificing to the point of losing his own life became something he did not fear. He counted it all joy. He knew that to die is to live. He inspired me to achieve that within myself.
I cried through that prayer. I know God is preparing me. That book and this article are confirmation. I fear what is to come as I pray for courage to stand and be heard. Oh God I believe! Help me in my unbelief.

It’s sad to see there is no addressing of the racial injustice that many minorities in this country face or the recent murders of Black men. Do their lives matter? Where are the prayers for racial justice and unity? I searched your whole prayer list and none! Hypocrisy!

It is a very horrendous thing that has happened to these men. Injustice must be addressed. I pray to my Father God that truth and justice prevail. Also Lord I pray for healing so that all of your children may continue to be united. Satan is crafty and would certainly receive a victory if this evil act devides us.

Dear friend, as believers we should be grieved by the loss of Mr. Floyd. I believe that this prayer chain does not exclude the evils of racial injustice. Keep in mind, Bonhoeffer stood again the evils of the Nazi’s against the Jews. These prayers include under the umbrella of all injustice. I caution all of us not to slander brothers and sisters in Christ. Pray for unity in our love for Christ and for one another. Until Christ returns we should be prepared that much evil will increase and intensify. We are called to stand against such things.

    Annette,

There is no Hipocrisy here, truly.

This article addresses the temperature of the Church. Bonnhoeffer’s book, “Call to Discipleship” is a mirror that we can hold up to our “fallen state” as believers and see if we measure up to Christ.

The Church is to be the Standard of Christ in the earth, the “Light upon a Hill”, high on a lampstand. The true injustice? That anyone steps into eternity without the knowledge of Salvation through Jesus Christ!

I am a retired public high school teacher who taught in Cook County Illinois for 27 years. Twelve or more people groups represented.

In 1974, mostly European (Italy, Poland, German, Lithuania, Czechoslovakia, Jugoslavia, Serbia, Croatia) with a scattering of Mexican, Korean, Chinese, Russian, & Scandinavian. Total about 7,500 9-12 children. Surprisingly, no racial tensions or discord. One aspect, the Church was active in family & community. There was an overwhelming sense of belonging, purpose, & hope.

Fast forward to 2012. 75-78% Latino Mexican (Zacatecas & Durango) with a scattering of Puerto Rico, Costa Rico, Ecuador and South America. Korea, Russia, and about 6-8% Black. In 1994 we had 54 gangs in the community, lost children in following years to gang murders & drive-by, rumbles in halls and gym classes. In 2010 I had three different students come to me distraught. All had family gunned down in Mexico by drug lords. In two instances a family of four at dinner, a family of five in a car, including grandma, and a father. The tip of the iceberg.

The greatest tension I witnessed? Godlessness! No sense of purpose or hope. Breakdown of family evident everywhere. Jesus was not on the lampstand in the community.

After 1995, churches throughout the district played an active role in the Gospel, many coming to Christ bringing the Holy Spirit into the midst, causing transformation of the Human Spirit & Soul. Today the 90’s is a by-line for students today.

Our Hope is in Jesus. I run into many students years later, and a common theme is that my classroom was their safe space, where they felt safe, knew they were loved, protected, cared for, they had value. I’ll take that.

His banner over my life and classroom was ‘Love’. The Call to Discipleship is where it all began. Salvation gets us through the front door. Discipleship let’s Jesus into all the dark corners of our house (our heart).

Having been a reader of Bonhoeffer it has always been plain to me that I do not serve man but God. And the God I serve is El Shaddai amongst many other names, but Almighty places Him above any government now or ever. The God that lives in me; Yeshua ha Mashiach, is my righteousness allowing me to approach the Almighty without fear of anything man can do to me. It’s like being arrested for murder and standing before the judge Who is my Daddy. It’s the same boldness the 3 teenagers chose Nebuchadnezzers furnace without fear.

The Lord is pouring out this graceful anointing of DB on his believers. I read that book several years ago, thought to myself, I’m glad that would never happen in America! Boy was I naive!
My family is speaking up, we are not Pastors, but we are HIS body. The church is without walls now and will grow bigger, deeper and stronger. I ministered as a living epistle to 250 neighbors this weekend online!

We are well able to take back our land, the spirit of Caleb & Joshua are brooding over us, the body of Christ!

Rejoice NOT over me, my enemy, though I fall, I will rise.

I have followed IFA and prayed about the world’s brainwashing over this. This article gave me HOPE that there are other Christians out there, who are seeing the real picture, and are committed to follow God and stand up for righteousness and liberty. Thank you for renewing my hope and May God’s blessing be on us as we go out to harvest and to stand for what is right and true!

I prayed and shared this with the verse Matthew 16:15, when Jesus asks His disciples, “Who do you say I am?” If my answer is Lord, then I submit wholly to Him. I cannot claim to be His disciple and do less.

I pray God give us courage, strength, wisdom and perseverance in His righteousness to stand firm on His word and rise up to stop those who want to destroy our nation and faith. I pray His army to stand strong, speak boldly and with confidence. I pray God’s hedge of protection over every Christian who steps up, over every person fighting this battle. As Christ followers we must not cave to fear, we must pray hard over elections, run for offices and never back down from what God has given us to do. We must be His shining light, showing His love throughout the world. I prat also that God keep shining His perfect light and revealing all corruption and every person involved in it and restore our nation and world.

I prayed this prayer with believing faith. I know now is the time for the church to rise and shine. Let’s point the world to Jesus, our victoriously reigning King! May He Holy Spirit be poured out afresh upon our lives so we speak and act with boldness, bringing Heaven’s solutions here so our nation can reawaken to her God-breathed purpose and destiny!

A long time ago, I went to a church that split,. As we were leaving the church a lady asked me who I was going with and all I could think of saying was, ” I’m going with Jesus” and I left. These two churches have never grown very large, they have stayed the same size since they have split. I have seen this over and over. YHWH God is calling for unity.
