Only a quarter of evangelicals in the United States believe abortion should be illegal in all cases, according to a new poll showing that a majority of self-identified Christians in the U.S. identify as “pro-choice” and less than half of evangelicals identify as “pro-life.”

One reason for the sad result that most evangelicals in this survey were “pro-choice” is that lack of understanding and truly living out the value God places on life. Sign up for  The Immense Value of Children in God’s Eyes. This 5 day devotional is profound, provocative, and powerful. You won’t want to miss these testimonies.

Save the Storks, a pro-life organization that partners with pregnancy centers to provide women with free ultrasounds, released a new survey this week that it sponsored through the research firm Magid.

The survey is based on online interviews with 1,000 adults nationwide ages 18 to 69 conducted in May to gauge Americans’ opinions and attitudes on abortion.

There’s a disconnect in our culture right now,” said OB-GYN Dr. Karysse Trandem, a spokesperson for Save the Storks. “The majority of Americans believe that life begins at or before the heartbeat, but the majority of evangelicals and Catholics identify as pro-choice.”

While the research breaks down data by religious demographics, it should be noted that religious classification for the survey was done by self-identification. This means that evangelical respondents were self-identified and not determined by belief qualification.

The data shows that 25 percent of all respondents identify themselves as “pro-life” — a political term used typically to identify someone who opposes abortion — while 40 percent identified as “pro-choice” — a term typically used to identify someone who supports abortion rights.

Twenty-nine percent of respondents said they were “neither or a mix of both,” while 7 percent said they “don’t know.”

When broken down by religious background, 47 percent of self-identified evangelicals, 33 percent of mainline Protestants and 27 percent of Catholics identified themselves as “pro-life.”

Meanwhile, 30 percent of evangelicals, 33 percent of Catholics and 26 percent of mainline Protestants said they were “neither or a mix of both.”

Less than two out of 10 (18 percent) of evangelical respondents identified themselves as “pro-choice,” while 34 percent of Catholics and 36 percent of mainline Protestants said the same thing.

As for respondents who identified themselves as “non-religious,” only 14 percent identified as “pro-life” and 53 percent identified as “pro-choice.”

Although the plurality of respondents that participated in the survey identified as “pro-choice,” only 27 percent said they think abortion should be legal in all cases, while 14 percent of all respondents said that abortion should be illegal in all cases.

Thirty-four percent of pro-life respondents said they think abortion should be illegal in all cases, while 52 percent said it should illegal in most cases. Ten percent of pro-life respondents said abortion should be legal in most cases and 4 percent of pro-life respondents said abortion should be legal in all cases.

Of the 40 percent of respondents who said they were pro-choice, 52 percent believe that abortion should be legal in all cases, while 36 percent said it should be legal in most cases. Seven percent of pro-choice respondents said abortion should be illegal in all cases and 5 percent said it should be illegal in most cases.

For respondents who said they were “neither or a mix” of pro-choice and pro-life, 30 percent believe that abortion should be illegal in most cases while 51 percent believe that abortion should be legal in most cases.

Only 25 percent of evangelicals believe that abortion should be illegal in all cases, while 33 percent of evangelicals said that abortion should be illegal in most cases. Fifteen percent of evangelicals believe that abortion should be legal in all cases and 27 percent of evangelicals believe it should be legal in most cases.

By comparison, 16 percent of Catholics and 18 percent of mainline Protestants believe that abortion should be illegal in most cases. Thirty-one percent of mainline Protestants said they think abortion should be illegal in most cases, while 28 percent of Catholics said the same thing.

Thirty-eight percent of Catholics said abortion should be legal in most cases, while 28 percent of mainline Protestants said the same thing. Nearly one-quarter (23 percent) of mainline Protestants said abortion should be legal in most cases, while 18 percent of Catholics said the same.

Nearly one-quarter of respondents (23 percent) said that “yes,” they would consider abortion to be an option if they or their partners became pregnant. Meanwhile, 21 percent of respondents said “maybe” and 50 percent said “No.”

Twenty-percent of pro-choice respondents said they would not personally consider abortion an option while 6 percent of pro-life respondents said they would consider abortion to be an option.

Only 10 percent of evangelicals said that abortion would be an option for them personally, while 17 percent of Catholics and 15 percent of mainline Protestants said the same. Eleven percent of evangelicals said that abortion would “maybe” be an option while 72 percent of evangelicals surveyed said that abortion would not be an option.

One quarter (25 percent) of Catholics said that abortion would “maybe” be an option, while 54 percent said it would not be. As for mainline Protestant respondents, 57 percent said abortion would not be an option for them while 22 percent said abortion would “maybe” be an option.

The survey found that non-religious respondents (36 percent) were more than twice as likely than Christian respondents to say that abortion would be an option for them if they or their partners got pregnant. Still, the plurality of non-religious respondents (42 percent) says that abortion would not be an option for them personally.

God help usA. We have each made ourselves God by declaring our belief instead of Yours. You are holy and we are holy only by the sacrifice of Jesus for usA.

Don’t be sure, at least 80% of prolifers would force that child to give birth.

It difficult to understand how people, especially Christians, don’t see the wrong, the tragedy of abortion, a precious life not given the chance to live I pray that all realize that it is more than a child life; it is a soul (even though God ordained to live forever regardless) who is not allowed to be part of a living person and the breath of God that gives that life being rejected by the so called right of a choice. How tragic that is. It brakes the heart. “Father open the eyes of people who do not see the wrong in this choice of terminate life at will especially the eyes of people who claim to be believers help them to see the value of life as the precious gift You give unto us, Lord I pray for our Nation that has approved this procedure to be legal even at late terms please forgive us for this national sin and help us to revoke it. In Your wrath Lord remember mercy. So I pray

What about the ten year old in India who was denied an abortion? It’s fetus vs. a real living breathing child who in this mess through no fault of her own? You have no logical explanation or a way out of this. It’s a catch 22. If you put the fetus above the ten year old, then it’s beyond hypocritical.

Lord God, Jesus Christ, I repent for the sin of my people! I pray you open their eyes to the horrors of this evil in our camp. We have opened ourselves up to the Baals in the sacrificing of our children. May it not be so. Lord forgive us and have mercy on us! In Jesus Name, Amen

Father, open blind eyes, so they can see what You want them to see. Open deaf ears, so they can hear what You want the to hear. Remove the fog from their minds so they can understand what You want them to understand about the horrors of abortion and how You are so against it, because each and every life beginning at conception is so very precious in Your sight and should be in ours as well.

Thank you Father.
In Jesus’ Name I pray Amen.

As a retired public school educator I am not surprised at this figure coming from Evangelicals. Public Education provides anti-Christ alternatives which War for the control of the hearts of children.

Out of nearly 50 million USA children in education, 10% are in Private schools, and 75% if those have Religious Affiliation. 9% of all pre-school kids are in private education.

Simply put, the Church has been bulldozed by Progressivism. The Leftists knew back in the 60’s, they could not win on merit alone, that social engineering must take place. 50+ years later, it has.

We need Revival, which will be followed by an enormous dose of Godly Sorrow and Ruthless Repentance on the part of the Church. Then we will receive our vindication, there we will find Salvation!

The Evangelicals are doing a fine job of killing off the mainstream religions. Church attendence has been steadily falling. Most young people are turning their back on the church because of they see the behavior of the bad apples. Young people are far more tolerant and accepting of LGBT, abortion, and other hot topic issues.

Dear Father GOD, Speak, I pray, to the pastors that they would educate their congregations on the evil of abortion! My own daughter was raped and conceived and carried that little baby to birth, but sadly the baby was stillborn. He was given a name, and dressed in beautiful baby clothes, and given a decent funeral and burial. I visit his little grave and lay flowers there and thank GOD that my wonderful daughter who was so brave now lives without the guilt and pain that abortion would have caused her. We look forward to seeing the precious little innocent baby in Heaven one day. To GOD be the Glory!

Father God, as Your children, we are to love what You love and hate what You hate. Please open the eyes and hearts of those who say they are our brethren but who are blind to the sacrificing of innocent blood to Baal and Moloch that is also abortion. You hate murder and the killing of those innocent ones is abhorrent to You and to all who are Your children. Lead us into victory over this ABhORfenT sin and let us value human life as You do. In Jesus’name we pray. Amen

Lord, God, I pray that the conviction of the Holy Spirit fall on us, all of us in this nation, those who profess to be believers in Yeshuah and those who do not. I pray that You move by Your Holy Spirit to bring this nation to humbly submit to Your Word Law and to repent of their sin of turning away from Your Word. I pray that we would see clearly our sin, be appalled by the ugly horrors of this abortion and come to You in repentance. Only then will America experience true forgiveness of our corporate sin of accepting and approving of this sin. In the name and power of Yeshuah HaMachiah.

Lord, You are aware of the entire prayer typed out that was deleted. Lord, I pray for those trusting in an act, words, or covering of water for their salvation. Father it is only Your blood that covers our sin, trusting in You alone as Lord over our lives. You have given us a standard by which we will be judged. Woe to those accepting of sin within their lives, their church and within this nation for You will not be mocked. Let us not confuse Ypur patience with us for a toleration, You are immutable/omniscient and omnipresent. Sin is not hidden from You.
The murder of a baby to cover the sin of sex outside the marriage covenant, including rape, incest, wanting a different sex of baby, or maybe test results aren’t favorable, financial reasons are all excuses to tell ourselves we know better than You, making ourselves into our own gods, worship of ourselves. We must repent of this sin, remembering You in wrath. In disaster let us remember Your judgment, and before the day strikes, let us repent and have faith in the only One that saves from sin, death and hell.
Therefore, our God, hear the prayer and the petitions of Your servant. Show Your favor to Your desolate sanctuary for the Lord’s sake. Lord, hear! Lord, forgive! Lord, listen and act! My God, for Your own sake, do not delay, because Your city and Your people are called by Your name.
